I think this review reflects my experience and personal thoughts very well.
I love my Eris, even from the first listen right out of the box. I listen to them for nearly 8 hours a day 5 days a week while I'm working. I have OK hearing, but yes I add a little bit of EQ to compensate for my hearing issues and preference... getting old sucks, and the military will expose you to some unique sounds that change your hearing for life ;) I simply don't understand the negative reviews that I've seen, it's like they have a totally different headphone, and I can't relate to a single negative thing that has been said.
I know that we all hear things differently, we all have different preferences, and we all have different equipment that we listen on, so that's my only explanation. The negative reviews probably come from people who have exactly the wrong combination of those things... and I suspect that very often they are probably the type of person who listens for different reasons, preferring to analyze the sound more than enjoy the music. There could also be variations due to quality control, so I'd love see two people with opinions on opposite ends of the scale sit down together with ONE pair, ONE source chain and the same music. Then I'd love to hear them discuss in depth what they experienced.

I have a 30-40-30 theory. 30% of people will love it, 30% will hate it and the 40% in the middle are flexible either way. We all perceive things way differently than I had anticipated even doing this job for years. I hated Asparagus when I was young and now I love it if its cooked the way I like.. I won't blame someone for disliking Eris so long as they don't discourage others from even trying it.

I tried these headphones at Capital Audiofest 2024 by chance. I wasn't looking for them. They just happened to be connected to a Black Ice FX10H that I heard about and wanted to hear. The source was a laptop and the media was a movie, not music. The movie sounded fantastic. All of the rumble was brought to life. If I were a headphone movie watcher I would have purchased a pair. They were that good. I'm not sure I got a true impression of the Black Ice amp, but it and the headphones made that movie sound awesome.

Review is right on the money, I love it with EMD and it still sounds good for other types of music also. Driving it with the M15, as it does sound slightly better on a desktop amp, one can’t beat the easy of using a dongle.

Tried it at the Toronto Audio Earvana show, maybe the most impressive headphone I tried. Its secret weapon: it actually has bass. Comfort was good, unlike the Abyss stuff it can fit an adult's head, which was a nice touch.

Excellent review. I've mentioned this in a few other places, but if you're particularly treble sensitive Geekria makes a round tuning pad that brings the treble spikes down a few db. I tend to enjoy mine a bit more that way, personally.

The Eris sounds better to me using my Topping G5 which is connected to my Qusetyle QP1R than it does with my Questyle M15. With the Topping it has deep bass and clean non-fatiguing treble. Medium gain sounds best. Your right in your review, the Eris is picky about what it pairs good with. Most reviewers that don't like the Eris always want sterile headphones with all treble and no to little bass. Every headphone shouldn't be based on the Harman Target Curve. Your either a basshead, treblehead, musical or you like dead neutral. You pick your poison that's best for you.

Yeah, ZReviews, New Record Day and A/V Showrooms started this shit ten years ago on RUclips and it's nuts to see how far some of them have come in the last decade. I'm not even that into headphones vs. speakers, but I find the headphone content funny and interesting anyway!

Voices of fire ,Joy (ft. Farrel) sounds boring on my Sennheiser HD660s. But on headphones with bass (my Ultrasone) sounds exciting. But Windrose with Diggy Diggy Hole (live) sounds disoriented on the Ultrasone and great on the HD660s.
Eminem - Killshot needs bass and a clear midrange for his vocals. My Ultrasone delivers that, like my Denon headphones. Maybe the Eris can do this too.
For very specific music the Eris is fantastic. But I need to try this myself. I do think warm classA amplifiers will work with the Eris.
