I will agree that with Holo Red on Red OS and Roon, it is kind of grainy. UPnP was better, but you should really compare OS to OS. All you have to do is pop the micro-SD card out of the Mercury 3 and pop it into the Holo Red. The only change you need to make in the Red is set Volumio to USB out. And if you are going to do a proper review and make blanket statements, then take the time to do it. I got stuff to do too as we all do.
Well one, I never made a blanket statement. I made a qualified statement - quite clear with the OS I was using, which what they shipped with. I also made it clear that I did not explore all avenues of the Holo Audio Red. Popping in Volumio now.
@@marvdunn I was mostly trying to help out with insight and switching OS's might be easier than you might realize. I was also pointing out that your preferences of the V3 over the Red might have to do with the stock Red OS and not necessarily a hardware thing. Both have excellent build quality for sure.
Yeah, kind of sick of jumping through hoops to get the "best-est" sound quality, especially for pricey gear. I shouldn't have to DIY my way to great sound paying close to $1k.
