- This is the theme song to the 1998 adaptation of the Chinese classic Water Margin.
Water Margin is a Ming novel written by Shi Ni'an, taking place in Song dynasty China in my own home province, Shandong. The novel has been adapted into several shows, and this is the theme song to the 1998 version, famously written by Liu Huan. He now teaches at University of International Business and Economics in Beijing.
Water Margin is an excellent and very culturally significant series, and I cannot recommend it enough. Here it is, avaliable in its entirety (except this song which they removed for copyright on the reupload) with English subtitles. Enjoy.

Chinese TV in the 90's was the best, when the government actually sent 100k soldiers to help film these epic battles.

Becoz of this great movie I wanted to learn Chinese. I liked this so much that I made the characters out of clay 😅..That time I was a little girl in grade 5. I feel so sad and happy in the same time. Old memories are old! 😊

I remember watching the Water Margin as a child. I loved it!
One of my favorite drama from China, one of the massive works in scope, production value, and moral values. It is so hard to find such good works these days. The villain Gao Qiu stereotype is still very relevant in modern day.
