NEW Fast Sinking Dropper!!

- This is a variation between a two-bit and a brassie; not really sure if it has a name yet. However, this is a little pattern I like to use to represent small midges or caddis pupae on my local blue line trout streams. As waters warm up, I start moving to fast-flowing, spring-fed runs higher in elevation. This little pattern makes for a perfect dropper that keeps the size small while sinking quite quickly in the water column. Pair it with a double nymph rig or use it with a hopper dropper setup, and it will be sure to catch you some fish. As always, there are no set colors. This is one I like, but don't let that stop you from mixing and matching to find what you like most. Good luck out on the water, everyone.

That would be basically indestructible.
I have never lost any of these to anything but a snapped line. Very cool pattern, just for the durability-super handy when you don't have too much time to tie.
The Sno-cone!
I might have messed up on that one. That's what I have always called it, but I'm not sure what the true name of the two-bead fly is, I guess. Tried to find it but didn't come up with much. I'm sure someone will chime in with it. That's the great thing about posting these-I learn a lot too.
Looks good brother 👍 do you use barbless hooks? Much better for the fish and also much better when you hook yourself up.
I'm curious if Your lures work in Europe as well, we have different fishes so maybe they wouldn't know what it is
This is my favorite fly pattern and weirdly the only one I know how to tie
If you can tie this then there are about 100O other midges that you could do no problem at all! It is a great pattern though and will do the trick in most cases anyway
@@MainelyFlies yeah I know and I’ve tried tying them, but for some reason, I just can’t
@@MainelyFlies also do you sell the realistic mealworm flies on your website
Not currently but I mostly do custom work. You can submit a form for that on my website
Love watching these videos! Yellow from seacoast NH! Caught my first fish on a fly rod yesterday (big old sunfish, but a fish is a fish!) wasn’t pretty, but I’m getting better. #flies
Keep up the awesome content!
Dang autocorrect. HELLO, not yellow…
Just keep on working on it and it just gets better as it goes! Now, while standing in the stream, add two feet of 6X tippet to your leader…now that was a challenge the first time I had to do that! Have a great day!
Yellow from Maine, haha! I like visiting your part of the world. I have some family near Portsmouth. I learned how to fly fish with chubs and yellow perch as a kid. With these species, you'll pick up on how to hook and land fish much faster than with the finicky trout or salmon. More opportunities mean more experience, so I generally try to encourage people to start with species like this before coming on a guided trip for Landlocked Salmon with me.
Absolutely agree, plus it’s good for some initial confidence building! I’m in Portsmouth a few days a week for work, but I’d much prefer your neck of the woods over it. Cheers!
I have a few great ideas already brewing off this like imagine an egg sucking leech pattern with two different color beads
Thank you for sharing this pattern! Would you recommend tandem rigging this with a dry fly? Tight lines, I always appreciate the new uploads! 😎🎣
My pleasure as always Zachary. Yes, I pair it with a foam dry when its sized to 14-16 and a high floating dry when under 18 how I normally fish it size 18-24
I just got a fly rod! #flies
Time to take it out on the water! Good luck!

Stunning! What gauge wire do you use to get them so tight together on such a small scale?
I use small, to help with that but XS is needed to slim down the profile at this size. The way this one’s looks reminds me more of a caddis pupa than a midge
@@MainelyFlies thank you!
