Caesar Kluck, soft-drink magnate, is found dead in the office of a big radio-broadcasting company. Benjamin Franklin Butts, a sound engineer, discovers that Kluck met his death from cyanogen gas, administered in some mysterious fashion. Harry Jones, head of the company, fires Butts for making the public. Kluck has made many enemies and there are numerous suspects, including Christina "Steenie" MacCorkle, who is in love with Butts; her brother Alexander; radio announcer Dave Chapman; Tony Lisotti, the janitor who had discovered that Kluck was making love to his daughter Maria' Kluck's physician, Doctor Leonard sylvester, and Joe Carney, a racketeer who had been doing Kluck's dirty work. Butts pursues his investigation and his only clue is a deflated toy-advertising balloon he has found next to Kluck's body. Later, Butts discovers Tony;s body in a broom closet and, nearby, finds another deflated balloon, a straw and a pin. He then calls all the suspects together...and solves the mystery.
Your channel brings to life many of the lesser known movies that came to signify the Golden Age of Hollywood. Those that contributed to making movies the art form of the 20th century. A classification sadly now expired. Keep these movies coming for all to enjoy in the 21st century!
Nearly 30,000 (29,993) views, and 4 thank yous...if you include mine. Thank you for taking your personal time to make these available for me and everyone else who comes by...I appreciate it:)
For those who might not have recognized him, the young man who did all the imitations was Peter Lind Hayes, credited here as Lind Hayes. By the early 1950s he and his wife Mary Healey were omnipresent of television both on their own show and guest appearances on many others
They also co-starred with Hans Conried in the 1953 fantasy film, “The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T”, which was written by Dr. Seuss.
@@13thwho Just try to find a video of that film today. I have a VHS copy.
Great info. Thanks.
Thanks for the upload. This is a great old movie.
Ahhhh PizzaFlix...the Sauce Source Sublime! Grazie!!!
Couldn’t take my eyes off gorgeous Nan Grey, and a bright funny film. B movies have more fun....
2 snaps up!
We were warned of that chemical mixture. My daughter was born on April Fool's Day!
Good movie
"I was the only one he REALLY cared for" 48:36... Out of the other 7 Prostitutes...they smudged tThat line
Love these black and white movies. Thank you for making these available 🙏
radio engineer turns detective & solves mystery w/out ever calling cops; maybe he was in the wrong line (w/ Lee J. Cobb in cameo role)
The old movies-the best movies,thank u♥️♥️♥️
That's Lee J. Cobb playing the janitor. I remember Peter Lind Hayes from '50's tv. He sounded like Rudy Valee singing Your Time is My Time. This was so much fun, Pizza, thank you!!
Hi Kathleen 🍕thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you 🍕
I loved Lee in The Virginian TV series.Halcyon days!!!!
Thank you for your time in bringing these wonderful old movies to us. You are appreciated😊
Good movie thanks 😊
thaks pizza flix for all the fine videos...
A little IMDb work shows that Lee J. Cobb, who plays Tony the janitor, was less than 4 years older than Louise Stanley, who plays his daughter Maria. It was only Cobb's fourth movie role, and his first credited as Lee J. Cobb.
I love these old black & whies. "Panties" on a censorship list. A fabulous look at our grand & greatgrand parents world. Men wore hats, skirts below the knee, etc. Film making techniques, plots, dialogues, how much fun to watch
Men wore skirts below the knee? I didn't see that.🤔
Very enjoyable comedy crime thriller. Well acted and plotted thanks for posting.
Lee J. Cobb....early days of his march toward
Oscars
@@robertwalker5521Lee never won an Oscar.
I've watched this at least 20 times and it doesn't get old. I hear or see something new that I missed each time.
Radio Station/Programs are great locations for mysteries.
This one had an interesting twist.
The blond cutie Nan Grey has has her Goldie Hawn moments. Fun movie.
Wow, was surprised to spot Lee J. Cobb as Tony @ 29:11
This movie from 1938.
Great old classic!
Yeah, and with a full head of hair.
@@leelarson107 And a marvelous characterization.
Well, dang if it isn't. I knew he looked somewhat familiar.
He had about 40 years of film-making ahead of him.
It's an A+ grade movie and my favourite film of all...thank you for the wonderful movie! :-)
You have to love these old B movie mysteries. They had a way with pacing that is lacking in most modern films-- 66 minutes and none of it wasted.
Wow Mr. Altier...so well said! Huzzah
Wow, I've never seen Lee J. Cobb this young before! And playing an Italian, no less! Also, Edward Van Sloane (Dr. Sylvester) played Professor Van Helsing in the 1931 version of "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi.
Edward was in Frankenstein as well.
another feel good movie thanks
A crime mystery with a decent sense of humor. Thank you.
I 💕 them too! I like murder mysteries with some dark comedy. Try Arsenic and old lace and A slight case of murder both excellent and funny. There are so many!
Thank you so much for posting your movies. I love the older shows.
Two voices I recognized and I had to look them up is Nan Grey and Donald Woods who were both in "The Black Doll" great movie!
It is an amazing pleasure to watch films where the script keeps moving and the product contains more than the marathons of the 21st century. Thanks for posting another fun film.
Thank you so much!!
I'm sure the hotel doorman was a cop in a Laurel and Hardy film.
Thank you for your wonderful uploads, Pizza Flix! Very much appreciated.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX
I have just discovered your channel and fell in love with all these oldies. Thank you so much for making them available. I have always loved the old mysteries.

GLORIOUS! Thanks!
Very entertaining and lots of kluck klucks LOL. Many talented actors. THANKS Pizza.
Thanks for the upload.80 years on she is still a stunning looking girl, but i guess saying that sort of thing these days isn't "PC". We've lost a lot in those 80 years, not all of it bad.
You're fine in my book w your complimentary statement!
Berton Churchill. A talanted actor!
He was nice in The Dark Hour.
@@keithharvey7230
He was truly the killer ...not that poor Chinese guy. Hedda Hopper lied!
Wow, what a Great.Movie! I've watched quite a few during this 'lockdown' (several I had to deep six!) and this one - this one was especially good. Beautiful blonde, clever engineer with super-hearing - countered by the type 'A' big-shot sponsor. Clever writing and hilarious moments - laugh-out-loud more that once (the doorman admitting that he too was in love). Excellent, thanks so much for the upload - may the 🍕 sauce be with you! 💖
Thanks for showing us this great old film...👍🏿
Thank you so much for keeping these going!!!
What a delight to watch. What a classic, good comments everyone, x
"Where are you?"....Ah, this is good! Good for a laugh. What a fi!m.😀
The movie sounded like it was dubbed over with other conversation than what was playing

❤❤❤❤ wonderfull movies we would never have seen .thankyou.so much keep bringing them to us.better than todays movies. Great actors.❤❤❤❤❤
Great show! This show teetered on the edge of corny, but managed to maintain my interest. Thanks.
It's more than just a little corny, but Nan Grey, the sinister George Meeker, the agreeable Frank Milan, and the 'Dr. Van Helsing' Edward Van Sloan make it worthwhile.
That was an interesting movie, thanks for sharing this with us 😊
Thanks for the movie, one of my favourites... I wish Nan and Donald had made a series of these films!
Yes, they really had 'The Chemistry', muahahaha!
Oh these old movies are fantastic they are really great underrated 100 I mean this is bloody this is a bloody four star movie there's no question about it maybe it's a plus plus plus plus plus got to see absolutely got to see
Nan Grey -- married to Frankie Laine (the singer) ... berry interesting ....
Highly entertaining. Recommended.
Not just a good story but some genuine real life Art Deco architecture and interior decoration.

That one guy played Van Helsing in the 1930's Dracula movie.
Edward Van Sloan.
Frankenstein.
@@keithharvey7230 Both!
He also played him in Dracula's Daughter, which also has Nan Grey.
Super little film. Give it a whirl.
Thanks for posting--very entertaining.
Thanks for uploading all the content I definitely have an old movie abuse problem
Luv these classic films! A movie NEVER seen is a NEW movie!!!
thank you!
Thank you 💖💖💖🤩🤩
That's a good one
thank you.
thanks for sharing
excuse me but his name was johnnie Arthur not jack daves
Peter Lind Hayes. I remember that name. Don’t think I ever saw him perform. He nailed Bing Crosby! Some of the impressionists of the 60s have to have been inspired by him! Great little film! 💛
I'm on 🔐 👇 no cable I on iTunes my 📱 😂
Mom put us young children to bed quite early. At the age of 6 I was up at 1 a m each morning to watch "The Late Show", and then, "The Late Late Show". Totally hooked on retro entertainment since 6 years old.
