When I was a kid, I would stay up late just to try and catch Esteban's infomercials. I was amazed at what he could do on the guitar. Outstanding. Simply brilliant.
You wouldn’t think rock ‘n roll could mix with flamenco, but these masters somehow make it work amazingly well.
I used to go see Esteban at the Gainey Ranch and the Royal Palm resorts all the time when I was a kid! I was telling my husband the stories of Esteban, and decided to look him up! I'm glad to see him still active!
For those of your who don't know, Esteban had the privilege of studying under the great master, Andre Segovia! Then, after an automobile accident, Esteban nearly lost everything. His accident recovery story is amazing. I suggest you look into it.
His music is amazing, and he's also an amazing human being!!

we did too! We lived at Gainey in the mid 90s and could hear him from our patio. A wonderful memory of the Hyatt. Just saw him last night in Prescott :)

I was at the Gainey Ranch spring of '98 on a business trip with my wife who was was 7 months pregnant. She was unable to eat her meal due to morning (evening?) sickness, so instead we went for a walk outside, heard the band setting up and decided to take a look. The great music transformed her miserable night into a magical experience and became a cherished, great memory. We've been fans ever since.
We walked into Gainey 20 plus yeas ago, and heard this FABULOUS guitar playing . Went down stairs and had the time of our life, have been HUGE fans ever since. Meet him and he signed some stuff doe me, great guy.

You know what? I like Esteban. He has found a niche in a really competitive and notoriously cruel business, and he can obviously play really well. The technique is there, and there is no arguing about it. His detractors are completely missing the point. I have been playing guitar professionally for 42 years, so I know a little (very little, mjnd) about music and guitar. So I say: more power to you, Stephen. You are obviously doing the right thing, judging from the number of fans and their devotion to your performance. And you know, I am a little envious too....
