Leftenant Commander Adam, I absolutely love your delivery style. My favorite presenter on TC. Keep up the damned fine work. Oh, and the Titan-A is a kickass ship worthy of the storyline.
I gotta say I love the Concept of this Post-Dominion Ship being a ship more focussed on Exploration and Science (like The Nova Class) And still have Speed and Size of a heavy Cruiser (At least thats what I gather from what It's Captain says about her in Episodes 2 and 3). HOWEVER, the notion of it being Visibly armed with Old Style Phaser Emitters together with more modern Phaser Banks is just absolutely bizzare (The Designers probably wanted to evoke the same Design elements from the Constitution Refit, but still...). After The Introduction of the Amabssador class EVERY new ship Design (excluding Kitbashed things like the Centaur or Curie) we saw had propper Phaser Banks, not even the smaller Ships...
Perhaps they are a new and improved emitter, or just more economical. I don't think it was designed for combat first and foremost. Which makes me wonder if the Shrike would handle a more beefy Star Fleet vessel...
@@andromidius yeah, while the Shrike is described as a formidable warship, I think it would be outmatched by a Starfleet Main Line Heavy Cruiser like the Vesta, Odyssey or even an Inquiry or Sovereign.
If you look closely it has three dual phaser banks on the dorsal and ventral of the saucer as well as three phaser strips as well, so six phaser type emplacements on the saucer alone. Why have both strips and banks, no clue considering we only saw ship with phaser banks be ships of late 23rd or early 24th century design thrown into service or extended service during the Dominion War.
@@kaltenstein7718 I think it would take a number of vessels to take on the Shrike. I imagine an Odyssey could be likened to the Enterprise E v the Scimitar in Nemesis
I was wondering why they had retina scanners when every camera on the ship, on every Starfleet ship, which were in every room corner, were able to retina scan without the person being scanned's knowledge. Did Starfleet take some kind of security step-back as some new "privacy" thing that played in the canon's background?
@chrismills2439 The Enterprise A was a renamed ship, though there's some debate over what the original ship was. The second U.S.S. Defiant was also the renamed Sao Paulo, so it does happen.

Another great video, Commander Adam. BTW the way how the main deflector dish is sunk in, it reminds me of how the Enterprise-B is. I definitely love how the ship has a mash of the Refit Constitution and Excelsior class designs. Bill Krause did a fantastic job designing this ship. I know it is a variation of the Shangra La class but still. Edit: I also still have the Star Trek TNG Tech Manual (signed by Rick Sternbach) and love reading it every now and then.
It is growing on me. Still a bit of an odd design, but it looks good in motion. It strikes me very much as being... kind of a support vessel. The way its talked about is its not especially well armed, just really fast - so its like an improved California class.
It does feel like it's not top-of-the-line, but it seems to have the same role as the original Constitution: long-range exploration with a certain degree of scientific analysis. Not the best at fighting, not the most detailed science vessel, but it IS able to fulfill the basics of either role for a long period of time without much access to starbases. As Mark Southwell said in another comment, it's also designed to have relatively fast sublight speeds; while it isn't necessarily going to overwhelm foes, it can swiftly disengage from threats.
@@TheZacula plus, maybe they've upgraded it's defence and offensive capabilities after its recent conflicts . ( They've had a year to undertake upgrades) It has phaser strips and phaser turrets. They upgraded the Lakota in DS9😊

Before Shaw, it's probably that Commander Tuvok took over after Riker retired. Tuvok was Riker's XO in the novels and probably got promoted to Admiral or went to teach in Starfleet Academy just like a lot of Voyager's officers.
Agreed, but I really hope that next week is the last episode spent in the "nebula," and that they advance the story. We'll already be at episode 4, and by what has been uncovered by Worf and Raffi, and what's going on onboard the Titan, and we still haven't seen the other 2/3 of the expected cast, they need chop-chop and get moving.
It's a nice ship. While the inside does look futuristic compared to the enterprise D the outside looks to me like it belonged in an era between the Enterprise B and Enterprise D. Rikers Titan looked more upto date with the rest of the fleet. You can tell alot of inspiration came from the original Enterprise Refit. They even had the view screen sound effects off The Undiscovered Country lol. This ship is a small Frigate type of ship most probably replacing the Miranda class. I think it would of made more sense it being built from and old constitution class. I personally believe that was the plan but they changed it for scripted purposes.
Look it's not terrible but I for one was hoping to see the Luna Titan. It's a really cool design and I've been looking forward to seeing it in live action. Kinda feels like a bait and switch for nostalgic fan services 🙁

@@chrispekel5709 i didn’t care for the Luna, but it was internally consistent and proportioned sensibly, unlike this Frankenfuq of a disaster “NeoConstitution”
My understanding is, in universe, the bulk of the Titan-A is the original Shangri-La class that was repurposed (and updated) after being mothballed for a very long time. It’s not designed to look old, it is old. Similar to a resto-mod of an old muscle car. Just put big ass engines on an old ship.
I agree, the official log states that the A is build using the spaceframe of the 'original Titan' which could honestly be both the Shangri'La or Luna, but looking at the very clear design influence and the fact it still has TMP phasers alongside the phaserstrips seems to support the idea of it being the spaceframe of the Shangri'La. Even the saucer windows match up. I'd imagine any size difference could be because of the nacelles and their placement. There is mention of internal components from the Luna class being integrated, but as far as I can see the spaceframe is clearly the Shangri'La OR an almost 1:1 copied retro redesign (which seems a bit silly to me, especially adding the old phasers ... For nostalgia?)
Perhaps because the Neo Constitution (there, I've made my choice on the name) design is fundamentally similar to the original Constitution layout, I can not help but love it. I know several here have already stated their disagreement, that the ship's layout should have been more similar to the Titan when Riker commanded it, but that design never grew on me. I prefer my Federation ships with the saucer section leading, connected to a lower main hull by the dish or a "neck", and two upright pylons supporting twin nacells.
Love it! Thanks for the vid! I notice alot of comments about the Titan being weak, but the Shrike is armed like a super ship and has more armament than a scimitar. I want a model of it. 1701-A has always been my favorite and this, especially the saucer, borrows heavily from it. She looks familiar but new a nice mix of new and familiar which is what they were going for.

The Esthetics are very appealing and looking forward to this ship becoming a model to be purchased to build and admire along with many of the other starships within the Star Trek Universe
I personally love it. My favorite ships of all time are those mid-tier exploratory/diplomatic cruisers like the Excelsior and the Ambassador. This fits that philosophy of ships really well. Jack of all trades, master of none.
You know, at first, I really disliked this ship. Not because of its design, but because I felt it felt out of place in the 25th century. But after seeing it in action in the first three episodes, I've fallen in love with it.
Personally I think this is one of the best looking ships we have had in Star Trek for a long time. There isn't an angle that looks awkward. Love it. How many decks does it have?
It reminds me a bit of the Excalibur, Exeter and Vesper class ships of STO, although I have a bit more of a sentimental attachment to the Excalibur class. I think I liked the Stargazer more and would have liked to have had more continuity between the seasons of Picard but I am enjoying what we have seen so far.
They built up the TOS Enterprise to the TMP Enterprise. Still didn’t get an “A” until it’s a different ship. If it’s built off of Saaviks Titan. It should keep the same registry number of 1777 It didn’t. It keeps Rikers Luna Class registry meaning it’s built from the Luna. Or at least that’s how it canonically goes. It didn’t. Because they goofed and now make a bunch of canonical inconsistencies while explaining it’s origin.
@@akjackhd5804 Where was it stated this was Saavik's Titan rebuilt? What was said is the Titan-A had incorporated some of the Luna-class Titan (Riker's) internal systems and is otherwise a new vessel. That still does not qualify as a refit but that's another debate..
Other than some slight modifications it's basically the same as the Shangri-La class and looks very out of place in the 25th century, especially compared to the luna class, the Voyager B, and the odyssey class Enterprise F. Also why is the original Excelsior still in operation with what looks like a major refit (picard season 2) and the Enterprise F is going into early decommissioning?
What you say is true. Nothing makes much sense with regards to ship aesthetics and evolution in this series. It's all over the place, as if they're trying to please everyone and failing at it.
NEO Constitution Class... That's what Riker called it. I call the title ship for the series the "HERO" ship. I really love the design of the ship. Harkens back to the more classic look for the Starfleet. Some designers really getting their retro looks in! But can they turn up the frigging lights on the bridge????
@@jamin4556 Maybe. I thought that was like a cinematographer's choice, but I can see that. Still not good for TV though. I know they like to take advantage of the HDR sets but some of us don't like to sit in a dark room to watch shows.
It was a awesome to watch "Vadic" Amanda Plummer to mimic her famous actor father Christoper Plummer's Admiral Chang from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
If I understand this correctly, the Titan-A is using some of skeleton of the Luna class. But instead of refitting the ship back its Luna-class silhouette, they create a new class. Call it the Neo-Constitution. And in that, it's design is based upon the Shangri La class. Now, unless the show runners state that the Shangri La is a sub-variant of the Constitution class and that is why Titan-A is a Neo-Constitution class, the design history of the ship is convoluted as hell. First, why would Starfleet outright change the design profile of an entire ship during refit? Refit the ship like we saw the Constitution from TOS to TMP. Secondly, if the show runners were dead set on using the Neo-Constitution design, a better way to go about it is in an effort for Starfleet to continue rebuilding its fleet after the synth attack 20ish years ago, Starfleet has decided to: A: Take a decommissioned Shangri La classes and refit it to 25th century tech. B: In an effort to save time, instead of designing new classes from the ground up, they are revisiting older classes from Starfleet's history and giving them a 25th century makeover. That is why we see updated designs of the Nebula and Galaxy classes from Season 2. To rebuttal myself, the reason why the Luna Titan had to have a refit was because it was badly damaged. Maybe it's frame was damaged enough where Starfleet decided to save what they could from the original Luna frame and build a new ship on top of it. For me, as of right now, the design history of the Titan is too complex for the sake of being complex. I hope there is still time to recon some of the supplemental information that was released about the ship. Please correct me if I am off base here.
My understanding is they were just doing a straightforward refit of the Luna-class Titan following its significant damage, like the original Enterprise was refit but retained its class. As they were going through, new technologies were made available and they decided to build a new class out of the ship, reusing the original frame of the Titan and some interior components, which qualifies it as a "refit". In designing the refit, they wanted to move away from the Intrepid-class inspired design that had heavily influenced the fleet post-Wolf 359 and the Dominion War. They looked backwards to the 23rd century for inspiration and seemingly looked back to the original Titan in particular. I would guess that, instead of going with a new Shangri-La or Shangri-La II class, they probably went with Constitution because it was arguably the most famous class of the 23rd century, if not potentially in all of Starfleet history. So, they designed something that looked closer to the Shangri-La class Titan, which itself was a bit of bridge between the Constitution-class refit and the Excelsior-class ships, but named it in honor of the most noteworthy class from that time. You can see the Excelsior II-class ship in Picard Season 2, which clearly takes its design from the original Excelsior class. Also, the Stargazer refit -- which was also said to have taken the original Stargazer and built a new ship out of it -- and whole Sagan class looks back to the past for design influence. I'd be curious to see a Constitution II-class ship. Post-Enterprise-B, pre-Enterprise-C era, perhaps?
I feel like not using the Enterprise E, even as an older ship was a missed opportunity. Shes still gorgeous, underutilized, and starships should last a good 30 years and get a refit! Real life ships serve decades longer.
8:57 wait a minute, the 3D viewscreen was shown plenty of times on the enterprise D bridge. Notice how the angle of what’s shown on screen changes when it’s viewed off-axis? that’s 3D.
I can't get over the size of over 550m for this thing. The windows just look off for that size, I at first thought the Titan-A was more like 400m in length. She also reminds me not only of the Excelsior, but much more the Obena-Class from Lower Decks.
Yeah, that's a head scratcher. You can clearly count the decks and it looks nowhere near that big. The saucer edge looks to be the same number of decks as the Enterprise-A.
I like it a lot, but I don't watch any of the series. I'm waiting for them to end so that I can buy all the seasons and/or the DVDs. Yeah, I still shop the cutout bins.
the titan-a's dedication plaque says constitution lll class on it neo-constitution is just a nickname the refit team gave to the class not the offical class name
I have Paramount, but I can't find Star Trek Picard. I keep getting the older series, that ends with the destroyer being shut down. So how do I watch the new series ?
The only other handle bar ever In a turbo lift, was TOS when you had to grab it prior to voicing a command. And you really think adding handlebars would really be a good idea...remember that episode when the turbo lift went haywire and threw Geordi all over?
So much work also went into the USS Enterprise interior for Season 2 of Discovery, so that being said, perhaps they had always planned a spin-off series from Picatd to continue using the interior sets for the Stargazer. In Season 1 of Picard, not much was shown of the interior for the Inquiry-class as all we get is Riker sitting in the Captain's chair, so obviously no interior set was built or needed for the the Inquiry-class on screen. But with wanting to introduce the new USS Stargazer, they built interior sets, which I would think they wouldn't spend all that money and time building if their wasn't plans to use the set more, like in a new series. I truly hope plans are in the works for a series with the USS Titan-A, so they can get some use out of the sets they built. The La Sirena interior sets have been used in practically all 3 seasons of Picard, getting it's money worth in spending to be built. We know that Star Trek sets from bridges to quarters have been reused and redress to represent other starship, because it is probably a lot cheaper to just redress an old set. makes me wonder if the USS Discovery interior sets won't make their way, redressed, for other series.
Why have seats on the bridge at all? Should be using body contouring and force fields that act as dampering fields for when the ship violently shakes in battle.
I feel like they just didn’t want to build a set for the Enterprise F so they just made this the Enterprise. I guess I just wasn’t excited or emotional about it.
I didn’t think I would actually LOVE the original Luna but I really love it. I am a real basic “constitution class “ lover. Big saucer and a main body. The Luna class didn’t have that, but this new one does and it doesn’t work for me. I really hoped that they would have a show that had a hero ship that wasn’t a standard trek ship. Edit: Those nacelles are too chunky!
The Luna design wouldn't work as well from a cinema photography angle, plus it's an odd looking ship and doesn't have enough interesting angles for it to work well on screen. That's one of the reasons why they've gone for the neo constitution design as it works well on screen
Oh well, you are at engineering then, Mr. Adam. What I didn't like is the fact I believed that ship was a heavy cruiser 🤔 not a heavy cruiser but TOUGHER because of its design, but it wasn't. Anyway I love the design. And I hate the lack of lights specifically on the bridge 🤨 with those steps and darkness, the probability of accidents gets way higher
it looked very...serious but as starfleet goes is it very low on the combat scale? i know they said it's designed for exploration, but i thought all starfleet vessels could claim that no matter how powerful they were..so it didn't seem very significant to me...also if it was meant to be a truly nerd ship wouldn't it be named after some human or alien scientist? titan sounds like a "strong sounding" name one would give a good combat ship.... [also the dark bridge made it seem on the tough side too...unless it has different modes like a more cheerful bright peaceful lighting one]
She is gorgeous. I have a question : Why was Riker's ship, the Luna class not called USS Titan A if there was a previous Titan captained by Saavik? By the way, that too is a gorgeous design.
It's interesting that no one picked up on the old phaser arrays on the saucer of this vessel from TOS series. Not sure why a ship in this era would have them. I picked up on this fact as I have built several Star Trek models.

You know, at first, I really disliked this ship. Not because of its design, but because I felt it felt out of place in the 25th century. But after seeing it in action in the first three episodes, I've fallen in love with it.
Greetings Commander, Fleet Admiral Unity here, can we have a break down class starshipof the Elios ?
There is a pic of the ship's dedication plaque somewhere. "Constitution-III Class"
Personally I think this is one of the best looking ships we have had in Star Trek for a long time. There isn't an angle that looks awkward. Love it.
How many decks does it have?
1:58 looks like 7 to 9 decks
Is it me, or does the front of the secondary hull of the titan look similar to the secondary hull of the uss vengeance?
Yes
I really loved the Titan-A! I thought it was a very cool, and charming design.
Great video - thank you.
Makes no sense for me that a refit changes the shipclass and adds an A to the regnumber. Its a Lunaclass
@@akjackhd5804 ok this clears up a bit for me, I forgot they took the original and beefed it up
@@akjackhd5804 than this would be the Titan B if its the 3rd and this was the luna because the captain said he had to erase all of rikers music
@@Starch-Wreck yes and saaviks titan would be like 110 years old :D and they didn't want to give a 50 - 60 years old enterprise another chance
@@akjackhd5804 Where was it stated this was Saavik's Titan rebuilt? What was said is the Titan-A had incorporated some of the Luna-class Titan (Riker's) internal systems and is otherwise a new vessel. That still does not qualify as a refit but that's another debate..
It’s a nice blend of the old and the new.
Adam is the best!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
build a starship/warship that has borg dominion klingon romulan breen and husnock technology all in 1 ship.
What I’d like to see is a breakdown of the different bridge controls through the many years/many ships . . .
We’ll add that to our video list and see if it’s something we can accomplish this year :)

NEO Constitution Class... That's what Riker called it. I call the title ship for the series the "HERO" ship. I really love the design of the ship. Harkens back to the more classic look for the Starfleet. Some designers really getting their retro looks in! But can they turn up the frigging lights on the bridge????
Tell me about it! Why are they all stumbling around in the dark?
Its modern day submarine dark on those ship. Maybe one
Of the designers served in the Navy as a submariner!??
@@jamin4556 Maybe. I thought that was like a cinematographer's choice, but I can see that. Still not good for TV though. I know they like to take advantage of the HDR sets but some of us don't like to sit in a dark room to watch shows.
I love the ship. Looks great
It was a awesome to watch "Vadic" Amanda Plummer to mimic her famous actor father Christoper Plummer's Admiral Chang from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
The bridge looks nice with the lights on.
Love how it looks like the 1701A but with improvements
Secondly, if the show runners were dead set on using the Neo-Constitution design, a better way to go about it is in an effort for Starfleet to continue rebuilding its fleet after the synth attack 20ish years ago, Starfleet has decided to:
A: Take a decommissioned Shangri La classes and refit it to 25th century tech.
It's all a mess. This is what happens when you have people running things who don't really care
@@Playhouse76 Constitution II is the TMP Connie, I think.
@@midnightlumina7 No, it's still the Constitution class. They just tag it a refit.
@@chrispekel5709 Disagree on both points.
It looks 😎 way to go startrack
Most ST ships have always looked somewhat out of scale for the stated sizes IMHO.
Windows are bigger, original connie has been similarly upscaled anyway to 450 M. Size makes sense. Things fit better especially for the refit now.
Personally I love this version of the starship! I hope they put out a model kit of this ship at 1/350 scale!
Palpatine said “Dewit” when you requested to subscribe. So I did it.
I guess that's the 24th century version of steampunk aesthetics? Love the ship.
Maybe including decks 12a & E1 were the writers way to either fix or poke fun at the mystery of how many decks the Enterprise-E had?
I like it a lot, but I don't watch any of the series. I'm waiting for them to end so that I can buy all the seasons and/or the DVDs. Yeah, I still shop the cutout bins.
Is it bigger, faster and more powerful than the Excelsior that could fire at warp?
the titan-a's dedication plaque says constitution lll class on it
neo-constitution is just a nickname the refit team gave to the class not the offical class name
Thank god, it's awuful
@@chrispekel5709 it is just a silly nickname no need to get bent out of shape over it
@@chrispekel5709 at least it is a actual nickname instead of a description being used as a nickname like the great experiment
Wasn't the titan re-named enterprises to honor picard in season 3 or am i remembering that wrong
Is there a good explanation for why Riker's Luna-Class Titan was not the Titan-A if it was the next ship in the line?
Thanks a Lot, Frasier!
Your mentioned a Greek restaurant in Big Sur, CA.
Good narration. Better than the kid.
That was amazing!
think in my heart is place for both Titan`s. Buit have to see more of the Stargazer
The Luna class Titan is so much of a nicer-looking ship
Love the new ship. She has beautiful lines. 😘😘😘
it looked very...serious but as starfleet goes is it very low on the combat scale? i know they said it's designed for exploration, but i thought all starfleet vessels could claim that no matter how powerful they were..so it didn't seem very significant to me...also if it was meant to be a truly nerd ship wouldn't it be named after some human or alien scientist? titan sounds like a "strong sounding" name one would give a good combat ship....
Very nice starship new hero starship USS Titan-A Enterprise F this is the federation & Starfleet. ❤😊🎉
It's interesting that no one picked up on the old phaser arrays on the saucer of this vessel from TOS series. Not sure why a ship in this era would have them. I picked up on this fact as I have built several Star Trek models.
Why does it take so long for this ship to go to warp if at all? Seems to me they could've jump to warp to get away from the Shrike, don't you think?
