Max you are absolutely right, this gen M3/M4 looks so much better in real life than on photos because I saw an M4 G82 in Isle of Man Green driving the streets in my village and it looked so damn mean. And in this case I think it looks so much angrier and better than the F82 M4.

Just drove it 1 hour ago, literally the same car (competition), same color, same wheels same everything! The car is an absolute beast. Interior is sexy as hell, the outside is sexy as hell aswell (I like the grill a lot tbh). The way it goes from 0 - 200 in a matter of seconds is brutal.
I’ve driven the previous M4 on track and I can safely say doing high speeds in these cars feels kind of underwhelming, meaning you’re going much faster than it feels because the car is so stable and so effortlessly picks up speed
Well he’s used to it for sure but above all, high-end BMWs go to these speeds so effortlessly and which such stability that it makes you feel quite confident behind the wheel.
I saw it 3 times now in real life . 1 time while driving and 2 times parking so I could take a closer look at it . The M3 is a really good looking car , until I see that way to big grille. It just is hideous and I can't talk myself out of it no matter how often I see it . That would be a reason for me not to buy it
@@DrKampfpudding thats fair, each to their own. But I highly highly doubt they'll turn away from this grill now that its implemented meaning you'll have to turn your back to the m3 for some time. Either way the bmw im planning to purchase is a M140i hatch and that looks stunning in white with black carbon touches. The real m140i not the new xdrive 4cyl one.
The comparisons with the M340i are really helpful (and reassuring in that there needs to be a clear difference between them, as there is between the M340i and F80 series). The comparison with a 911 Turbo S are very flattering - cannot wait to test drive this car!
13:15 : the older gearbox was not compatible with the 4 wheel drive control which will be available in few days. That's why BMW have to change its gearbox.
@@ndj4267 the only drawback the zf8 brings is slightly less response in manual mode, slightly slower shift times, and maybe slightly more drivetrain loss. other than the first reason, the other two reasons are barely, if not, not even noticeable. now if you want a good performing transmission that is as smooth as a torque converter, but as fast shifting as a dct, merc’s MCT is the answer
@@AutoTopnl It is not as exciting as the previous one BUT I never liked the slow change to reverse gear and sometimes at lower speeds it had a kind of hiccup... so I am happy with the new one. I just dont know which color to chose for the new M4. This brooklyn grey looks a bit boring in real life and you can see finger prints everywhere. But a lighter color is a must to see the contrast with all the black accents. So maybe the famous yellow...
0:30 It looks so aggressive, yet beautiful and modern. Leagues above the previous models which looked like a constipated iguana at the front. The grille here leans forward but now is big and aggressive like a big and aggressive sports car should be. Not a tight letter-box opening
DCT changed due to reliability and budget reasons. For me I can sacrifice a tiny bit of performance for better normal performance in M3 - M3 often used as a family supersedan. What can be considered a positive for some is more shift feel compared to the dct train like shifting... For me better even though really some performance is down just a tiny bit.
I just bought a dravit grey one … carbon seats black interior and blacked out every where else ,x drive as well … I dropped out of a brand new rs6 for it …: can’t wait to pick it up ! Good review

In my opinion this is one of best looking BMWs in last decade,really don't see why all bandwagon hate for looks,it looks so original and different. Also i almost always buy coupes,but i think M3 looks better than M4.
The DCT contributed to the unsettled nature of the previous car, I would take the ZF over the DCT. I sold my LCI F80 after 9 months because of poor driveability

I was thinking about getting a M4 a couple of months ago. The car is really nice looking from the outside, but damn that grill. I tried to like it, but it just never grew on me. It's horribly exagerated and it seems to have no harmony with the design. Not a fan of the interior, but it's ok. Anyway, this is just my personal opinion. Went with Audi all the way. Gorgeous interior and exterior on pretty much all of their cars.
Cars drive straight without wheel input. The more speed the straighter it wants to drive, least resistance. Reaction time without hands is not that much worse too. I remember though when I first started driving how frightening it was letting go of the wheel. With time you get the feeling for it and it makes no difference to you whether you hold it or not as long the road is safe and you don’t have to turn.

Totally agreed! Rear end is very floaty and playful even with warm P4S tyres. Miss the old DCT gearbox though. Love it in my Portofino.

It took me exactly a week to change my mind on those grills. They're fire, especially in person.
They didnt go for DCT because of the increased torque and AWD... ZF is also better for tuning, the DCT's in high powered F80's have a lot of slippage!

I would go for this Competition model. I'm in it for the speed not the driver engagement a manual provides.
To have an all-wheel drive requires the competition model. The other M3s have only a rear wheel drive.
