    Thank you, this worked for me. Samsung told me they would have to wipe all my data to update. I have At&t S22U that is now on T-Mobile that hasn't update for over a year.This method preserved everything and I'm now on One UI 6.1 and the last security update is Aug 2024. I did get this warning message "be sure to delete your google account(samsung account) " that I wasn't sure what it meant, but found out. Samsung devices have a security feature called Factory Reset Protection (FRP), which is linked to your Google account (and/or Samsung account). If you don’t remove your Google account before flashing the device, FRP might kick in after the process. This could result in the device being locked, requiring you to sign in with the Google account. I went in Settings > Accounts > Google > Remove Account. I then added it back when I was finished.

    • @ExplainingAndroid
      @ExplainingAndroid  9 месяцев назад

      there are times when those OTA updates just do not register properly. so if, for example, you buy this phone from Verizon Wireless, those OTA updates will not be sent to your device unless the phone has a Verizon SIM card and is active on the network. so if you switch carriers (or just don't have a SIM card for any reason) then you can't get those updates
      just one example, but it's helpful for a number of others

I tried reading forums from reddit and xda but gotten no answer for this particular issue and also when I searched through my CSC (WWD) it is an unknown code in many sites that I visited, maybe this could be the root cause that I couldnt receive monthly security patches? I am considering to try this procedure but hesistant that I might brick my phone.

    My question is, can i chance the software from USA to Indian variant. Is there a way? And if, how?

    • @ExplainingAndroid
      @ExplainingAndroid  Год назад +1

      you would need to check and see if the hardware used in the India release of the phone is the same as the USA release of the phone.
      sometimes Samsung uses Qualcomm in the US while using Exynos in other parts of the world
      if that's the case with the india/us GAlaxy S22 plus, then it is not advised to change the firmware regions like that
      I would suggest you use the steps I show in this video to manually install the April update. and then just keep manually updating it each month with Odin

      AT&T is really bad with their updates and their own software lol. I have an s22+ and its got the same problem. its currently stuck on one ui 6. at&t's updates are glitchy so it might be best to go ahead and try Samsung Smart Switch to update. if all else fails, odin is the way to go.
