Thanks for this. Im a newbie. My cactus looks similar and it yellowed from the bottom too. I saw this and immediately watched it. Now to the rescue of the cactus lol
So if I don’t put it in the pot with water to begin with.. how long before I should water it? Once it has roots. Someone else asked a same question and all you said was yes.. yes to what 😅
Will this work if the green part of the cactus is mushy but not overwatered type or mushy like it feels like a thin layer on the outside and mushy ish in the middle and the top part has a black part but it’s tiny will it still work
Thank you po maam Gina. I hope everything goes well with your cactus. I used to conduct free seminars re cactus grafting when I was still in the Philippines.
So... mine's rot too, i did just like in your video, all i gotta do it put it in a clean pot, put it under bright shade, water them a little, and if it starts to rot again, i cut the rotting part with clean knifes/scissors, right? All while waiting for the roots to regrow?
Do you have any advice on a pereskiopsis graft stock rotting? I cut it and there’s about an inch or inch and half of pereskiopsis still attached and the scion has grown a lot so it seems like it’s stuck good on there. Im not sure if I can try to get the pereskiopsis to root and wouldn’t want it to rot. Or if I were to graft the top half of scion would the bottom half be viable at all, would you happen to know? Thanks
Possible reasons: 1. bacterias (roots are stronger and will look good until all rootstock rotted out). 2. Temperature change. 3. Too much water. Mine got sick after a sharp temperature decrease. It was dropping from 82 to 39 within 6 hours.
Hi Sarah. Yes I let it grow roots without the soil. In this way I can tell that the wound had totally healed. Sometimes rot may reoccur and you will notice it right away without the soil.

Moon cactus can get stock rot with out any reason. Better to keep other type of gymnos in your collection 👍👌
Can a scion feed on any other green plants?

My rootstôck has gone bad, but my scion is good, what can I do to save the scion? Where can I get more rootstôck only?
I will try this!
Hello! Did you put the new rootstock in an empty pot or should I add water? Thank you very much
Just an empty pot to keep it upright. No water.

Can i use cinnamon as a root hormone for moon cactus?
That would help, plus cinamon has antifungal properties.

Don't add water while it's growing roots

Do they need to be in soil to grow roots? Can they?
No. It will grow roots without soil. Just make sure not to place it in direct sunlight.
Until I notice that new roots have begun to grow, do I water it in any way?

Hi, 2 out 3 of my cacti like in your vid have root rot. Did you just leave it out of soil to re-root???
Hi Sarah. Yes I let it grow roots without the soil. In this way I can tell that the wound had totally healed. Sometimes rot may reoccur and you will notice it right away without the soil.
