    I’ve found that the main thing is cut the plant until there is NO BROWN OR YELLOW! The vascular bundles run thru the branches and trunk of any plant, it’s a ring inside the plant, roughly halfway thru you’ll see dots or an entire ring but in succulents it’s often dots, the rot will advance up those first and fastest, the rest of the tissue may be healthy but if there are any yellow or brown dots then you need to cut further up the plant and hope it not may it too far

    Anna, you are the queen in raising your beautiful cactuses with flowers. Pls. help me. I finally bought the Levington Tomorite Tomato fertilizer. It was delivered today. I have only six cacti plants so far. I have plants for six years, but only once i saw a few little flowers. i never gave any fertilizer to them.
    So please give me the exact amount of water I should use and how many ounces of the fertilizer. There is 1.3 ltr in orange bottle. I have not watered for about five weeks.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  3 года назад

      I only use half the strength recommended in the bottle. Then use it on the first 2 waterings for spring. Alternatively, you can just mix 1/3 strength and use it every time you water during spring.

    Hi there Cactus Caffeine! I wanted to know how this pup turned out after you repot it, I’m planning to propagate a rattail cactus I adopted that unfortunately has a split and blackened base (not mushy or smelly so I do not believe it’s root rot), I figured I could cut that blackened section and regrow.

      This cutting was doing good at first and looked like it rooted. But then it got sick from the top and got mushy. Must be bacteria of some sort. It succumbed to that. 😔 But all the other cuttings are doing great and have all flowered this year.

    • @CactusCaffeine

      Yes! Cinnamon has anti fungal properties so it helps stop rot. Some say it helps form roots as well but I have no proof on that. Rooting powder is really optional. It can speed up the process but Cactus will form roots just on their own. 🙂

    I have a bishops cap Cactus. It is like leaning a a tiny bit soggy but not black.. it kinda looks like an elbow at the stem. Should I cut it or try sunlight

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  4 года назад +1

      Is it leaning because it is following the direction of the sun? If so, try turning the pot around so your cactus will straighten. But check the bottom and make sure it is not soft and browning, in which case might be a rot (hopefully not). If your cactus is still growing then it is not rotting.

    • @ashlee3156
      @ashlee3156 4 года назад

      Sadly his stem is a tiny but brown and looks like an elbow and is a lil soggy. I sat him in the sun yesterday and it didn't help so I'm gonna try to remove the dead tissue let it callus then add rooting hormone. Thank you

    • @ashlee3156
      @ashlee3156 4 года назад

      I didn't realize when I potted him that he had soil real compacted around the root but oddly all roots look healthy. I think it jus cause moisture to collect around the weak part of the stem idk. I bought him at CVS lol so he was probably real neglected. It's crazy because it was perfect until I put him in Schultz soil. Even tho it was fast draining for seedlings it jus had the original soil so compact in that area ... I hope this method helps me save it
