  • Welcome back to the channel, on this episode I deal with some root rot and show how to propagate a cactus if you do need to cut off the rotted roots. Near the end of the video, i share some care tips and watering guidlines.

I found this video to be very helpful! Thank you! I do have one question. I have read that when you cut the rot off the cactus, you should let it sit and dry up for a couple of weeks before repotting it. Is this just an alternative method that works just as well?

Hey Lacy, sorry for the delayed reply! I put the corn starch on and then let it sit in the dry soil for a week or so to callous off so to speak. The cornstarch seems to help for whatever reason. I’m sure there is science behind that but I take it at face value since it works. I think that corn starch or not, dry soil or out of soil, it is a good idea to avoid watering and let that happen as you read. Thanks for you comment as it provides some insight I didn’t explain in the video! Much love

I reported my cactus into 2 and the 1 I put into probably a too large a pot, I touched it and it I came off its "leave" separated and they all smelled rotten... do u think I can let thr main cactus let it try and then????? I have no experience with cactus help?????

My cactus is three feet tall and possibly a young saguaro or a Mexican cactus I don’t know. It’s turned brown an hard like wood in the middle. I’ve had it a year n watered lightly four times. Gets good sun. What to do? Poor soil… I d k.

Might be corking? Three feet is a fair size. Don’t stress and see how things go. Much love 🤙

The culprit is the plastic pot, you need something way more porous lire terracotta pot or something

Good tip for sure. Yeah if it’s not breathing it’s more likely to stay too wet, I agree with you

MAKE SURE!! to cut until all of the brown is gone, you want to see only healthy green flesh for success, these cacti did not survive.
