Proper casting has taken many a movie from "good" to "great". For those of us that have played the dickens out of Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands 3 this movie is starting with a casting handicap.
which is sad, NONE of them are inherently bad actors, and in fact several of them have taken bad scripts and made them bearable with exemplary performances but theyve been given roles that just... dont match up with what theyve done in the past OR the source material; its literally just corporate looking at what actors are available and within budget, and rolling the dice on what theyll play. I would have no problem with any of these actors in a borderlands movie, just not as these characters
Nothing here showcases the genuine insanity of Tiny Tina. Roland was the closest thing to a serious character in the first game so having Hart play him is… interesting. IMDb writing credits are provided by the WGA, but Joe Crombie has no WGA link. Maybe it's a pseudonym of Zak Olkewicz, who wrote some pages for Tim Miller's reshoots.
So yeah...I'm not saying there isn't a significant probability of it being trash, because there definitely is. There's just only one way of knowing for sure.
If Nickelodeon produced Mad Max.
YIKES! best casting choice was Claptrap.
Me: Mom, can we watch Guardians of the Galaxy?
Mom: We have Guardians of the Galaxy at home
Guardians of the Galaxy at home:
Alternate title: Actors That Needed a Paycheck
Kevin Hart is a deal breaker.
Lilith is a 21 year old in the games any reason why she’s played by a 54 year old?
Because this is another Trash House film full of corporate garbage.
Zero idea. Blanchett is a great actress, but imagine how much better of a Lilith Anya Taylor-Joy could have done. Also helps that she's believably within the right age range lol.
How the hell did they blow this opportunity!!????
I love this game and i know its to early and dont wana be a hater but this already feels like one of those movies where the director never played the game and they could have gotten better costumes and actors at a comicon convention than who they used. And i love Kevin Hart but is he supposed to be Ronan in this? Thats ... why?? That doesn't remotly fit... what makes sense because this kind of feels like Jumanji
Can they use the original song please…. This ain’t place for no hero.
It’s hard to imagine worse casting decisions than the ones represented in this trailer. It makes me hope that this is a parody.
It’s giving more of a Valerian vibe I think than GOTG
Proper casting has taken many a movie from "good" to "great". For those of us that have played the dickens out of Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands 3 this movie is starting with a casting handicap.
which is sad, NONE of them are inherently bad actors, and in fact several of them have taken bad scripts and made them bearable with exemplary performances
but theyve been given roles that just... dont match up with what theyve done in the past OR the source material; its literally just corporate looking at what actors are available and within budget, and rolling the dice on what theyll play. I would have no problem with any of these actors in a borderlands movie, just not as these characters
Oh look, Kevin Hart is finally an action hero. I’m sure the Rock is so proud of his little buddy!
Sullying Borderlands with Krate Blankcheque. After watching that, think I'll go purge the games from my rig.
I love this! I love the game
Look good! When is it out?
Another Strong Women movie, Great.
Usually trailers get me excited for movies. This had the opposite effect. Love the bordlerlands game. I hope the movie is better than the trailer.
“God I hate this trailer” really felt that.
Nothing here showcases the genuine insanity of Tiny Tina. Roland was the closest thing to a serious character in the first game so having Hart play him is… interesting. Blanchette is obviously very talented but I DON’T see her in this role. Jack Black is arguably the best casting in this movie but even that’s a little frustrating because there already WAS a perfect voice actor for the role, the guy who already DID it 😂 just seems like a lot of weird decisions
someone has to say it, since everyone else is saying the opposite. 😂 So glad they didn't cast the rock or terry crews for this movie. the same 2 guys literally play every "big guy" in every movie. Crazy how nobody complains about that!
I'm sold. I was prepared to be annoyed at ClapTraps voice not sounding right, and then realized it's Jack Black and I no longer worry.
Love the actors, love Borderlands, i should be absolutely hyped for this movie.
And yet i feel absolutely nothing but complete indifference...
Wasn't this called Guardians of the Galaxy?
Thought the same mate 🤷🏼♂️
No, is Borderlands from the 2009 videogame, with original costumes and characters. Not even the 1969 comic from Guardians of the Galaxy resembles nothing like the original Borderlands. Maybe the soundtrack confuses you.
Sets, art style and costumes look good. Writing (dialogue) seems suspect? Casting Agent should be turned into a Meat Puppet.
There is nothing original in the minds of anyone in the US film industry, is there?
Why do they feel the need to spoil everything?
"Mom! I want Guardians of The Galaxy!" "But we have Guardians of The Galaxy at home."
No Elle? No Scooter? Catcha Riiideee. I'm passing this. And why is handsome Jack in this? He's the sequel. No Dr Zed?
They've got Scooter and Ellie on the IMDB, no handsome Jack though, the villain is Atlas.
So Suicide Squad meets Guardians of The Galaxy topped off with some Mad Max.
Yup, a mixed bag
Kate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis are bold choices for this. Doesn't look particulary good though. Replacing Claptraps voice actor with Jack Black was a bad move. Time will tell but I don't have high hopes for this.
"Let's make a dystopian film."
"Like 'Mad Max - Fury Road'?"
"A funny 'Mad Max - Fury Road'..."
"Can we get funding to get it off the ground?"
"We could get an Oscar award winning actor on board - money will flow in."
Brilliant
You do know this is based on a videogame right? This ain't its own thing!
@@6Vlad6Tepes6 He's making a joke that it's just a hodgepodge of bullshit thrown together, but i think it went over your head.
And he's right. They added big names and clearly are going for a GOTG/Mad Max vibe.
@@fedbia2003 it's borderlands homie that's what borderlands is a hodgepodge of cluster chaotic bullshit.
@@6Vlad6Tepes6 Uh huh… sure.. that’s what it is..
This isn’t a cash grab at all. You’re right
still one of my favorite game i still play
Casting Kevin Hart as Kevin Hart is tight
I've loved Borderlands the game for years, so seeing this kinda makes me sad. I've always hoped someone would do a movie based on it, but this...what IS this? These actors are awesome...some of them legendary...but NOT in these roles. The casting makes so little sense it makes me think the movie is garbage without ever having seen it. What a wasted opportunity.
Nope Sir ... I didn't like it :(
And what do you want us to do about it?
Pass !!
kevin hart got to do what everyone who plays borderlands wants to do: give claptrap a good kicking
Fifty cent should play as the character Roland.
Oh, so they've remade tank girl then !!!!!!!!!!!.
This was the whole movie...
Yea they showed the Graphics and scenery for all the pivotal scenes. Looks like theyre begging people to watch it
WOAH JACK BLACK AS CL4P TR4P, PLEASE DO! I LOVE THIS UNIVERSE SO MUCH
I'm glad I've never played the game. Everyone who has in this thread seems to be so upset. I'm glad that I'm not upset. I'm sure I'll enjoy it lol
Half the cast should of gotten their children casted instead, claptrap i wish sounded like claptrap, and was roland 4 feet tall??
It isnt the book its the movie, a visual representation of the source material, it should matter that the cast, visual doesn't do the characters justice
Yeah roland is supposed to be a beef cake and a professional soldier. Terry crews or idris elba wouldve bene my first picks off the top of my head
they can't have strong men, only women who wish they were men. They ruin everything
Definitely a movie that's not on my watch list.
Cate Blanchett would have been OK for the role 15 years ago...
Who else would have been a good casting choice? Aubrey Plaza? Evan Rachel Wood? MacKenzie Davis?
Why do they use a song from the 1970s in a futuristic sci fi film?
This is gonna be a dumpster fire with expensive scenes
This has original mario bros movie energy. Weaksauce.
Wait, where's Brick and Mordecai?
It looks close enough to the source material. Lets see how they screw it up
