Unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the technologically advanced 918 Spyder was produced from September 2013 until June 2015. While the body style and interior design paid homage to Porsche's supercar lineage, the drivetrain was completely reimagined into a true gas-electric plug-in hybrid, which Porsche engineers created to be the most compelling choice for their clients. The 918's 4.6-liter naturally-aspirated V-8 engine operates in tandem with two electric motors, one mounted on each axle. The combination is so powerful and intuitive that a 918 Spyder became the first production car to lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes, achieved through an exquisitely engineered balance of combustion engine and electric motors for maximum torque, handling, speed, and endurance. The Weissach edition features an additional 90 lbs of weight-saving enhancements, including BBS magnesium wheels and carbon fiber for the rear diffuser, windshield frame, roof panels, and rear fenders.
