Texas PCHC Monkees Podcast Isn’t that note hit by Laurel at the end the greatest thing when she smirks as if to say “quit freaking out. It is just a note that I sing everyday”. I would hope that Laurel is the same genuine and sweet person when you meet her as her stage personality indicates she would be.
A throwback to the golden sound of LAMBERT HENDRICKS AND ROSS And DOUBLE SIX OF PARIS........the early 70s had many 40s influenced performers ..POINTER SISTERS FIRST TWO ALBUMS and BETTE MIDLER. Amongst others..
I was 6 when Pastiche came out and I used to love hearing those songs. Walk in love will always give me goose bumps. That high note at the end of this is fanfu@kintastic. What a band!!!
@@toddburton6570 My wife snuck backstage after a concert and got to meet them…. actually the longtime line-up of Tim, Alan, Janis, & Cheryl, and they were absolutely as kind and gracious as could be imagined. It was a great experience for her.
★🎵If asked which one the best of MT,I'll say this one without doubt, ・・・For high beats, rhythem ,perfect harmony ,each solo presentations , This is nothing but a real JAZZ chorus! Perfect! 🎵
The beautiful Laurel Masse hitting that great high note at the end. I agree with @Wombat - as a teenager listening to The Jam this shouldn't have worked for me but I bought Pastiche and the follow up album. Used to ease me through my homework on an evening.
Cheryl's not in this video though - that's Laurel Massé. She left the group after the album that this song was on. She was in a car accident in 1978 that sidelined her from singing temporarily, but she also had become disenchanted with all the touring and the business aspects of being in the group and wanted to pursue a solo career, which she ultimately and successfully did.
MT brought me to Woody Herman and the 2nd Herd (those hallowed saxters). The 2nd Herd brought me to the Thundering Herd, etc., etc. The great continuum.
Sorry - this was NOT a Woody Herman song... it was written by the great Jimmy Giuffre and Woody's 'Second Herd' recorded it... as a result, the Second Herd became known as the Four Brothers Band but I have a version recorded by Giuffre in my father's orchestra, the Harry Babasin Orchestra, in 1948 at Jubilee...
It was a hit for Woody Herman's band though, which is how most people would know it. It's not unheard of for people to introduce songs via their well known interpreters rather than by their writers.
Such a pleasure to listen to……and watch
Beyond the obvious talent, they exude class...
I watch this just to hear Laurel's last screamer...and I love how she smirks after its over, like...that note?? No big deal at all!! lol

Love this performance very much! Laurel Massée very impressive voice, I am sorry she had to leave ManTran after her car accident to early…..
This is the best Four Brothers presentation I've seen and Laurel Massé's masterful closing, simply wonderful. I love this video.
Has there ever been a better group than these four? Not that I've seen.
Laurel Masse...…….. what a beautiful woman...oh yes, and she could sing too!!!! AND of course the rest of the fabulous crew!!!...YA!! RIP TIM HAUSER>
Great number! RIP Tim Hauser.
Laurel Masse just bossed that last note 👍
Obsessed with this song! They´re all great artists, and sound perfect.

I have no idea how they remembered the words! That was such an amazing performance. We saw them at the Festival Hall here in London.

It's Fab to have this high quality video with the original line up including the ever-so-swingingly talented Laurel Massé.
Holy shit screaming trumpets come to the vocal world, thanks Laurel for that! Tim, you're lookin snazzy!
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Saw them 9 times and for live singing you cannot beat them!
I think I also saw them nine times, and met them all once. Janis and her son Gabriel met me for lunch once...

Let’s get their 1975 CBS television show (4 episodes) restored and released...Someone must have the masters somewhere...???
It's just mad how good they are
Great.. Saw them in the 70s
Notice Alan has the hand movements in perfect sync.

Who in their right mind gave this a thumbs down. Brilliant
Dungannon Man There are haters that would give God a thumbs down.
They would give themselves a thumbs down.

Igen. Sajnos a Macskafogó amerikai változatából a négy gengszter dalt kivágták.
SUPER!!!
Thanks to OGWT ! OMG so many new bands
Nobody like them 💗
CAT CITY! :D
Úgy látom te is a kultúra embere vagy. #MACSKAFOGÓ4EVER
i presume the guy trying to get in on the act was ira newborn (who wrote the great "police squad" / "naked gun" theme)?
He wasn´t that bad. Not at the level of the group, but he sang his part pretty well!
Hope they play that at my memorial service
Apparently this is sung note for note with the original 4 brothers
Big fun! ... and I've fall in love with Cheryll!

Janis ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Különben mehetünk vissza a balettbe ugrálni...
Az később volt... de számomra sokkal jobb is :)
WOOT!
Laurel decided the name of the show was actually The Old Gray Whistle Range Test.

What beats Laurel's high note at the end of this performance?
terrific!
Was that a whistle tone??
@@hellogoodbye637 Yes. Yes it was.
Thats an a''' (Helmholtz) or A6 (scientific) = 1760 Hz. Really terrific. And beautiful, of course :)
素晴らしいパフォーマンスだった👏👏👏 さすがマンハッタン・トランスファー😃
Ki van itt a Macskafogó miatt?
MT brought me to Woody Herman and the 2nd Herd (those hallowed saxters). The 2nd Herd brought me to the Thundering Herd, etc., etc. The great continuum.

About 1977?
What style
Words by Jon Hendrix.
Ladies are remind me the picture of Mucha. It is like they are jumped out from the pictures

This makes me want to smoke cigarettes and drink whiskey.
not Four Brothers, but Four Masters ;-)
I mean Laure l!!!
What year was this?
1978
オリジナルメンバーですね?
Sounds a lot like Jon Hendricks lyrics. He was the genius of vocalese.
Liked Cheryl bentyne but more laurel
C'est quand même autre chose que " La nouvelle star" ou" The voice" et autres stupidités de la télé française .
Soyez rassurés . On sait où finissent ces "produits " jetables !
