    It’s so wonderful to read all the supportive comments here. Thank you all and thank you Wendi for creating the platform for us to tell our stories and to hear & see ourselves in other peoples stories. Leaving is the bravest and hardest thing that we can do. I am so proud of all of us!

      Aaaaawwww. "Leaving is the hardest thing that we can do." This struck a chord -- to someone who has zero family in the organisation but one who has been a people pleaser for most of my life and therefore fearful of hurting the friends that I made over the 27/28 years that I was in

      I'm sorry, but it was your fault that your marriage failed, not your husband's or the organization's. The Bible says that wives are to submit to their husbands' headship. (Ephesians 5:22, 23) The Bible also says that spouses shouldn't withhold sex from their mates without mutual consent. (1Corinthians 7:2-5) You're more concerned with your own interests than the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4) You disregarded Your husband's suggestion to train at home. You're too ambitious, headstrong, and independent to be a good Christian wife.

    I’m very impressed with Avi. Like all of your guests, Wendi, what a brilliant person with so much to offer. I wish these videos had been available 40 years ago. I recently tried to explain to someone that jw members are not allowed to search for information online for fear they might think for themselves. The person was gobsmacked.

    • @WendiRenay

      People pleasing is very common in situations like ours. We are conditioned to put people’s opinions over our own and there can be a balance.
      Even though you don’t have family in the organization, the pull is still there and it is fear-based.
      Once you decide to take care of and love yourself, things will start moving along for you! People pleasing is a trauma response. Somewhere alone the way, you received the message that your own internal wisdom doesn’t matter. It’s a false message. ❤️

      @@WendiRenay you're right. I defied my family and friends who told me I was joining a cult and here I am nearl 30 years later . I didn't totally abandon my outside network who accepted my decision to become a JW, but I enjoyed the friendships I made inside the JW organisation and didn't want to leave once I felt I was at odds with the constant "new light"

    I’ve just started watching this channel so I’ve only seen a couple of interviews but I have to say I absolutely loved this interview with Avi as her story is so very similar to mine, including her story about her daughter. My daughter went through this as well and I feel so blessed I left this religion and was able to be there for her through all that. My eldest always tells me that the best thing I did as a mother was to get them out of the JWs. I would love to connect with Avi.

      Yes, and to be clear, getting out of victim mindset doesn’t mean you weren’t a victim. It’s not meant to invalidate your experience. It’s a step we can take after accepting what happened. Acceptance is “this happened to me, it wasn’t my fault.”

    I have found as an elderly person and been one of Jehovah's Witnesses for51 years that human nature does not change.People are the same in all religions.As a child I was raised up in a number of different religions.And the people did the same things.These religions scared me to death as a child and young women with their teaching of a burning Hell and the end of the world the earth being destroyed by fire and the Rapture teachings.I smoked nearly 4 packs of cigarettes a day before becoming a Witness.If I had of continued smoking I would have been dead by now.Im no longer afraid of death because I know the dead are not burning in He'll that it's the grave.The truth set me free in so many ways .I think the things you people say in my option are slanderous.Satan is jumping for joy over you're videos.

    • @annabizaro-doo-dah
      @annabizaro-doo-dah Год назад

      Many people give up smoking who are not Jehovah's witnesses. To your point about hell, I lived my life terrified of Armageddon. Now I know the horrible thought of my friends, neighbours, non JW family and all the millions of non JW children & babies will not be murdered by giant fireballs slung by Antony Morris, I feel so relieved. A benevolent God would never do such an evil thing so I know that story is false and is merely a physical place in the middle East where a particularly awful battle happened.
