i love this mod. for ppl who doesnt know how to make lots of power without any needs of maintenance: create a ton pf thermoelectric generators, yellorium blocks and packed ice. a t.e.generator surrounded by 2 y. blocjs and 2 packed ice block gives 80rf/t if im correct. 52 generators enough to run this excavator. and its also not laggy as the wind and watermills
sooo...is it actually mining, or just outputting ore based on a simulated estimate of what's in the chunk...is it physically leaving underground voids where materials have been removed?
It's not leaving a hole in the ground like a BuildCraft Quarry does, so it won't leavy any visible traces. The other part... I don't know for sure, but I don't think it actually interacts with the veins underground based on that I ran this world in a superflat world - which does not contain ores. But I was still able to find them.
You might know by now, but you didn't find many mineral deposits (surprised you got any) because it's a creative world ;) Great overview of the mod, thx for the tuts! :)
I'm trying to do everything exactly as you do, everything followed down to the letter, and still nothing, it's baffling. Everytime I use that engineer's hammer to turn the converter on, it either does nothing, or switches to some kind of different function that I know absolutely nothing about.
Hi! I understand this is 5 years old video, but I'm wondering how can I enable mineral deposits which is not automatically enabled. (Such as slit - clay + sand + gravel) It seems like some people raised questions in the bugtracker but I could not find any meaningful result.
@@therealtkh Thank you so much for your reply! It is 1.16.5, and I was creating a custom one for myself. If I'm remembering correctly, minetweaker could add custom mineral deposits but not sure about crafttweaker...🙄
@@saewings4963 I started up a 1.16.5 instance and added only IE. After that I went around and took lots of small samples (using Mineral Survey Tool), finally I found a Silt deposit, as we were talking about that. Did not work in flat world for some reason, I had to be in a regular world. So I took a core sample and had a 98% Silt concentration, built an Excavator and put it to work. Seems to work fine as it output Sand, Gravel and Clay. However, I didn't find the ore concentration in the config files so I can't say how to change them. I haven't used Minetweaker/Crafttweaker so I'm not sure if they can help out with enabling/disabling/changing rates. Sorry!
@@therealtkh Thank you so much again for investing your time for this question. It really helped me a lot! Maybe they changed things in 1.16.5... (I saw many complaints for previous versions saying 'some mineral deposits are not present despite the output minerals are all from vanilla minecraft' and the author just dismissed the issues saying 'less desirable minerals will not be added') I really appreciate it, and I hope you have a great day! :)
+Just Four Seconds I would like to, but no news at all.... The thing is that I would love to do so much in this area, but it's so hard to take things the whole way. And I'm afraid of making promises I can't keep, I would hate to make you guys disappointed.
+Just Four Seconds However, a few guys are playing around with mods on a server. Find the info in IE video #2 in the comment section. Haven't had time to check it out myself yet though.
Yes it teaches you how to make the multi-block structures, it does not fail to do that. However, it kinda holds back on some information that I may find rather useful, for example, what type of power should I use, they have LV, MV and HV. Why should that matter? what's the difference?
Again I did everything to power that Excavator, and it still does nothing why. i'm using the High Voltage. but it has these multiple functions that I still know nothing about, and the problem still persists. what does the blank mean? What does the blue light mean? And what does the red light mean?
Please note that this is the fifth video in this series, and power systems are covered in earlier videos. On a capacitor, blue means input, orange means output. It's important to have them configured correctly when powering machines.
The handbook has a lot of text and sometimes there might be minor things missing or perhaps not explained enough. That's one reason for making tutorial videos :) Hope you got things working.
+TKH Yes I liked the video: it was instructive for me to understand how to use the excavator in survival. But I've learned that there is an: "/ie" command (in 1.7.10 at least). If I type: /ie mineral set Iron then it "overrides" the minerals in the chunk to iron. Unfortunately this doesn't synergies with the excavator (and it just scoops air) thus I was wondering if you or perhaps someone in the comments section knows any thing about how this works, if I got it wrong, there is another step to this, etc. Anyway I hope you have the time or energy to supply me with an answear or propose an alternative. Again, I would like to crontrole the location of the excavator placement and still get the minerals I want. Thanks again. (Btw I wrote this on a mobile ergo I feel like this comment is prone to mistakes, so don't hate me for that). (Bbtw, should I have spelled prone, proned or was it fine?)
Ok, then I understand how you mean. I've never used or seen that command, so in that case I recommend asking BluSunrize for an answer. I have only tried what I did in the video, and in that method you can't chose what mineral a chunk should provide. If anyone knows it would be interesting for all of us.
Surveyed over 200 chunks and still no quartz I must have the worst luck. Also I am consistently finding Mineral Deposits in neighboring chunks, I've found up to 12 spawning together.
Are you playing in a modpack? It might be that config files changed where minerals can spawn....? I only played this in a test world so I don't know if that is common.
I'm just saying, if Redstone is the base source of power in the world of minecraft, why should there be more than one type of power source? I'm having trouble with that one.
Before strutting your stuff and telling everyone how amazing you're I won't deny that, everyone's amazing. but maybe it's a good idea to thoroughly test and double check the mod for it to be fully functional.
Im am building excavators EXACTLY the same way you did in this video, but they simply will not form when using the engineering hammer at the end. I've tried with and without the wheel present, they just don't form.
Please note that this video is over two years old, and things might have changed. What version are you using? Double check versus the manual if anything has changed.
the block that you hit matters. if it doesnt work, craft an engineers manual, search heavy machinery and the excavator. it has a nice tutorial for building it.
lol me to.. glad the book did not point you in that direction what so ever... you would think it should be quickly mentioned right from the start of the excavator section.
I don't get the point of Immersive Engineering. I've been playing it for 2 days, and it takes too much time to get everything working. But, when you do, like those Excavators, what will be the point of all your industries? Not that Minecraft has an objective, but IE really is complex to achieve nothing besides having it working.
Well, as with many mods I think it plays best together with other mods. And you can choose what style and method you want to use. However, I think it's fun that some mods makes things "harder", looking at the power system for example, how to distribute in low, mid or high voltage. Multiblocks instead of one-block-fixes-all etc. It feels more rewarding (sometimes).

Do you know if there is a simpler way? Im playing 1.18 rn
Lol I was so confused when it started mining Nether Quartz xD

GretchenDawntreader no. its just "spawning" in tons of ores. more than a doublechest of the ores of that deposit. op af.

Another Immersive Engineering tutorial: How to set up automatic mining of mineral deposits.
TKH I tried to turn it on it was at full power but it didn't work does it matter if I'm in a desert or not
Great tutorial for a very cool and awesome looking mod. cheers :)

does it work on skyblock?
Don't know, one you've tried feel free to post your result here :)
He didn't post his result
If the wiki is right then it does work on skyblock. You might have to troubleshoot it a bit but it should eventually work.
How do you pull items from chests or GUI's with items (i.e. Thermal Expansion) with conveyor belts?
you can use a hopper

Thanks for the videos man, very informative!
+Digan Cool, thanks :)

oohh
Yeah I haven't found that in the Engineer's Handbook so I wondered.

Can someone explain to me how the /ie mineral set ... works because for me the excavator scoops just air.
Did you do like in the video? Take a sample and then place the machine within that chunk?

with what mod did you see the chunk ?
NEI (Not Enough Items) has this functionality.
Where? I can´t find it
The default key is F9 if I remember correctly.
It's the same thing with Thaumcraft for me, try as I might, I could never make that Matrix core alter, with the Vis Wand.
I'm just saying, if Redstone is the base source of power in the world of minecraft, why should there be more than one type of power source? I'm having trouble with that one.

Where are diamonds? In which vein?
Hmm, in normal diamond veins? minecraft.gamepedia.com/Diamond_Ore
"its not very expensive" try on TFC iron is super expensive
My excavator doesn’t want to turn on
So hard to help if I don't know what you've done. Did it form correctly? Is it in a good spot (where it can find minerals)? Does it have power to run?
Im am building excavators EXACTLY the same way you did in this video, but they simply will not form when using the engineering hammer at the end.

i have no idea i needed core drill XD
lol me to.. glad the book did not point you in that direction what so ever... you would think it should be quickly mentioned right from the start of the excavator section.
yea the excavator page didn't tell us anything about suing the core drill
lol me too, I ended up building the whole damn thing in most probably a mineral deprived chunk :-(
Yes I used the Engineer's Hammer, yes I used that Core Sample Drill, and still nothing.
I'm the kind of fella that enjoys getting to the point, not playing around.
excellently done
Just put it on there and power the damn thing right?
awesome thx for the tutorial is realy useful for me
+Edison _EF Good to hear that, thanks :)
just food for thought.
that is another version

As a tutorial. Not good.
A lot of rambling and you didn't do a step by step explanation of how to build the excavator.
Oh that is cool. :D
I hate these fucking machines so much. Takes so long to build but then they don't run.
Shunk
And the engineer's handbook is not helping at all, that information is too vague for me to put together.
In conclusion, I have'ts say three simple words for these mod developers, " fix yo shit"
Not immersive at all I mean...
omg get your mic out of your mouth
