- The invasive Burmese Python, native to Burma, is a huge problem for Florida's Everglades. For the last 20 years there has been an average decline in 98% of the everglades' small mammal population, and the Python is suspected to be the root of that.

Pythons Devour Florida: Help Wanted | TIME
/ timemagazine
Put a decent bounty on them, allow people to hunt 365 days a year and watch how quick they can be eliminated. Mankind is real good at wiping things out if there is money involved so lets put that talent to work.
RIGHT
just import some Indonesian python hunters and the government should support luxury bags made from python skin, and the problem is solved.
Yes, why would this be so difficult? Put out traps with live bait say a chicken or even a dead chicken in a trap along places where gators are unlikely to travel. Hunt them with infrared or whatever it is, heat seeking, sell the hides and give the meat to the other wildlife. Above all just kill them. Don't worry about the conservation nonsense. When they run out of prey, by wiping them out, they will die off anyway so who cares.
Florida's fault they allowed exotic animal into the state now they pay the price idiot state
Jon Stearnes whatever
Man no foxes or rabbits. Wipe these snakes off the face of the planet
Just out of the environment
98% of small mammals gone?
Burmese Pythons should be banned in the USA . What an incredibly stupid situation.
Yeah like I would believe you and a orange dufus over scientists all over the world regarding global warming.
Why did he in un ban Burmese pythons?
I agree . Burmese pythons are well represented in the United States . A ban , whether permanent or temporary , is a very good idea . Because right now the population is big enough .
Its too late..
Boaman5435 TheAnacondaLover You are a MORON.
Need a massive hunt daily. Start wacking this menace. Stop the bs. Create jobs!
This *is* already happening.
@@hoptoit5910 yeah, no it's not. It should be, but it's not. Don't see it changing anytime soon either. For some reason "IDK" Florida Fish and Game don't want to stop it. Just think if they hired people from the 2 Native American tribes to hunt them and paid them per snake. Now that would at least be trying. Instead they bring 2 guys from INDIA. What a load of crap.
Just tell the Chinese that that python meat can cure cancer. Thats what happened with Rhinos in africa
@IAmaPersion lmao, well, just cuz!
Johan Gotta specify only the Florida python though and that all others will cause impotence and infertility.
100,000 Burmese pythons = 2e10 calories or 20,000,000,000 calories! That would feed the entire population of Florida in a day. 1000 calories per person, give or take!
Catching them seems to be the only issue!
Thank you for your Service
If Florida officials really wanted these snakes gone they would not require licenses to hunt them. Also they would put a good bounty on them. Stop complaining unless you get real about getting rid of them.
You dont need a license to kill a python
Simple Stuff.....15 Watt Blue Laser. Will cut them in half without needing to get closeup, quiet, accurate, and no guns involved. One more slice for the bounty head and on to the next. 👍👍
THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE...If it can eat a deer, it can eat pets, small children, adults your grandmother...
Agreed but no snake in USA can eat a deer. Do you know how big deer are? Snakes in the USA can eat small alligator and maybe you need to research deer and not snakes?
Ryan sharlotte ...I live in Kentucky and have seen hundreds of deer. Deer size run from new born fawns to large bucks..Pythons grow each year of their life. So if they grow to 15-20 ft...they could easily eat pets, children and deer...Each year these intrusive snake grow bigger......I think if people would stop and think about it and think ahead in years they will get what I said....Thank you for your reply.
Mother in laws? Lets hope so.
But can they eat democrats? Best case scenario, that will Def kill the pythons
Jeff you rock man. I used to watch your show all the time.
they're in TX too. I saw a pic of a big one on the banks of the Trinity river
I was thinking they could be used for their meat and skin. I'm not one for eating or wearing snakes, but I'm sure it could help some people while controlling the snake population.
Thats a good idea, but making it profitable may just lead to farms of snakes rather than hunting
You can't eat them but the skin / hides have value
@@michaelthorpe1869 You sure? I've heard of people eating snakes. It's no wonder I had no clue what your comment was about till I looked at the video. My comment was from 5 years ago. lol
@@CherokeeMaiden81 mercury levels are 2 high for consumption I believe
Python Patrol, a group of very brave men & women!
P.S. Jeff. I really miss Venom One!
Florida needs a blizzard!
bud1014 😂😂😂 yeah that's about as likely as the government giving out free hd tv's.
bud1014 it's gets cold in Florida about 26-27 in the Orlando area not sure how cold it gets further south in the infested area with pythons, might not last but will slow them down enough to make them vulnerable
Boaman5435 TheAnacondaLover I hate to be that person, because I certainly hate it when people correct me. But man I'm telling ya I live in Sarasota and Florida 100% still has a Burmese python problem also here is an article just in case you don't believe an anecdotal scenario. It was posted April of this year and it gives citation to credible resources.
www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2018/04/16/a-burmese-python-with-a-tracking-device-led-florida-officials-to-a-record-breaking-sex-party
Boaman5435 TheAnacondaLover yeah..... did officials also plant pythons in my cousin's washing machine pipes? Sorry man but that sounds about as likely as the drainage of the Okeechobee NOT being the reason the new alge is blooming and why we are seeing the worst and most deadly red tide in years.
Nothing wrong with pet snakes, but bad people STILL dump them in the our swamps when they don't want to take care of em. That's how things go.
Boaman5435 TheAnacondaLover Did i ever say ONCE that i wanted to ban them?😂😂😂 omfg you are ignoring facts and then putting words in my mouth. I have a pet corn snake as well. I have nothing against snakes at all, I love them. I am just telling you the fact that there IS still a problem. Ok if it's a "fact" cite your work, show me the facts. Show me links to the proof you got bro. I will admit it's true, if I see cold proof.
Hounds with protective gear . Not one single python can hide from hounds. You can hunt them to extinction with hounds. You can find them in the water, on the shore, their nests. Everything . They make jackets for pitbulls , just modify those a bit and you'll find every snake in the Everglades.
Thanks to all the Snake Hunters/Nature Preservers! Florida is a beautiful place.
Redbug 3, no it isn't a beautiful place. Florida is the trash can of the south. 90% of the people who live there are complete fuckin trash!
Yeah . Thanks . Your efforts to save Florida's indigenous wildlife is appreciated .
Yeah
Yes, I don't know what I'm talking about but why take all the time, money and energy to relocate them? Everyone carries a machete or a .22 rifle. You locate the snake, chop its head off or shoot it and then move on. Much more efficient.
I think you are sensible and have the right idea. I really would like to know what is positive about having all these snakes around. I can maybe understand if you are overrun with small animals but I really don't know what else. I am an animal lover but they are times when you have to go back to the basics and just destroy them. On some of the survival shows they are cooked and eaten quite a lot.
the only way to truly get help is to have the government give tags or bounties on the snakes.
its how they combat pigs, and it creates jobs.
start a petition. all land owners and people that live in the state or community can sign it.
i dont know how it works you might be able to get people from around the country to sign using the internet.
frostedcube56
Simple feed them poisoned rats, and destroy their nests.
Trent Puelicher
Hunt them, and if people see a python appearing to be guarding a nest. Kill her and destroy the eggs.
Get rid of them all
I would love to help...where to begin?
2:49 Alligators could be in the water too....
They spend way too much time capturing each snake when they find them. This is a very serious situation and there is absolutely no need to play humanitarian with snakes that have wiped out two indigenous animal populations. If they have a hard time shooting these pythons then experiment a little bit and find the appropriate size shot and best distance to dispatch these snakes with a shotgun. After it has been shot then chop its head off and bag it and leave the rest of its carcass behind. But don't waste time because those creatures are running out of food and when they do move on someone's child may very well be next.
Leaving the carcass of dead pythons would develop bacteria, etc. that feed off pythons and would infect living ones.
El Tigre - animal carcasses are left behind in the wilds all the time without causing any problems. So if you have evidence to back up your claim then I would like to read it. Thanks!
Boaman5435TheAnacondaLover - And serial killers are more dangerous than pickpockets. So your point is exactly what?
both need shot @Boaman5435 TheAnacondaLover
When the pythons run outta food, they will have to branch out, and you could very well find them in your back yard, a hazard to pets & toddlers. Python hunters are handicapped by bureaucrats - i.e. No guns in Everglades Natural Park....so, the very people who have allowed the situation to become critical are the very ones calling the shots...crazy
Python Festival in Homestead, and have a massive party. cook and eat!
I have had all the largest snakes in my breeding facility for years and the thing that's overlooked is pythons are food for lots of natives to I would guess less than half are surviving to age 3
Good job guys good job getting that monster out of the the Everglades you guys deserve a metal
They make it this far north to citrus county I won't hesitate.
I'm glad they are "putting them down".
Interesting
A $10 bounty and a pack of Beagles. A couple Jack Russell Terriers as muscle for the beagles. A couple Black & Tan Coonhounds and Airedales would be a good team also.
Don't fergit the gators in that thar swamp. Hell on the doggies if you're not careful! But a sound solution, anyway.
The price of snakeskin shoes should be plummeting!
What will eat them?
Why don’t they make a living by catching them and take their skins.
He said they may eat everything and move on 😁😂🤣🙄where does he think there going to go? Coach flights to the Amazon 😂
Can foreigners volunteer?
I currently live in Arizona but I have family in Lakeland Florida, if I wanted to come to Florida and hunt Pythons while visiting my family is that legal? And if so does anyone here know who I should contact? Thank you fellow RUclipsrs 👍🏽😎
Milspecmachine miami Dade sheriff office could help you. If your serious
Milspecmachine: Florida Fish and Game as well.
Make products out of python skin and then watch human greed make them an extinct species.
Human greed would increase the snake population, not decrease it.no snake Wrangler who makes his living supplying snakes to the boot factory is going to want to see his cash cow disappear. He'll just illegally breed and release.
Might work .
Best comment here
No, it wouldn't make them extinct. There are plenty left in their home country.
Real good fix Homey....can I get a matching pair of Cowboy boots, Belt and monogramed bill fold on that one ....Real Talk
Man I'm on fire :D
I wrote about this could happen when I was in Jr. High School in the 70's. My biology teacher told me I was stupid that these snakes could not live in Florida. He also said that these snakes couldn't swallow a person. And if 2 people have been recorded killed and swallowed. Then there have been more.
BlackAnvil47 they cant get passed the shoulder the only damn way they can eat a adult human is if they are lying on their side.
Rochelle Wilson bullshit.
Matthew Maxcy Tell me how they get passed the shoulders when it has been proven that the human shoulders pose a problem as they are not colapsable. So the only way they can eat a human is by manoeuvring the person onto their side. I gather your a wise know it all who actually knows f all
There have been 2 recorded deaths of these snakes swallowing people...are you that Damn dense? Look up the freaking videos. Unless the people obliged the snakes while they where swallowed....damn
@Rochelle back in the 20-30's people also believed sharks teeth where unable to bite through human bone...until river in New Jersey
As with most problems the reason it exists is because a certain group of people want it to exist. The Florida Game and Fish Dept. have guaranteed jobs as long as the snakes, pigs and lion fish exist. Another job well done by another Government agency. I wonder how fast these "Problems" would disappear if the people of Florida got rid of the G+F and took care of them themselves. I know, just dreaming. Carry on G+F. Promotions and bonuses all around.
check out snake traps from parts of the world that deal with them. put a bounty in the DAMN MONSTERS
If they invade my yard they are going to become pieces ...
Hello there is NO hope of eradicating them Dam people are DUMB As a shake expert, a python can go as long a 6 months or more without eating and usually only eat once every 2 weeks Meaning they eat approx 26 times year to live
Once they eat everything they might move the guy says?? Where are they going to move to residential neighborhoods. No mammals seen in two years. Last time I traveled from Miami to Naples I kept my eyes peeled in that canal that runs along 41 and I didn't see a single alligator the whole time. I can remember making that drive in the 80's and 90's and the gators were everywhere. Underneath that swamp, unseen, are monsters getting bigger and hungrier.
I personally keep a look out in GA and TN for these snakes. I grab them up when I get the opportunity.
These folks that breed hybrid snakes or snakes period at home are mostly to blame for this crisis. Life has its ups and downs and folks financials change drastically, like losing a job or a home. When that happens people leave their pets behind. Or the folks that are releasing animals into the wild that are not native to the region. This is all humans faults. So I will do my best to right those wrongs!
Stop breeding snakes for
financial gain! Living in a shoe box isn't a life worth living! It's cruel and unnatural! Picking a mate isn't natural. Forcing 2 different snake species isn't natural or right. Thats like forcing a human into a shoe box and picking them a mate to procreate with so you can make more money selling the babies! The whole practice has to go!
Can’t you trap and bait pvc pipe. Oneway valve with wires.
What's the pay I'll come and help
Let the locals have an open season on them.
Make snake skin boots and handbags cheap and fashionable again that will control em
I believe there’s no getting rid of them. I mean how could you..?
We just have to write them off as newly native just like brown anoles
Of course keeping their population somewhat under control
Have to watch this vid for school🙄
can anyone tell me how they got in south florida
Enijah Daisey from people releasing pets
@@Therealjoeycallen Yes, that's what started the problem about 10 years before Hurricane Andrew. Pet owners and exotic wildlife exhibitors who could no longer care for the pythons released them into the wild. Then during Hurricane Andrew in 1992 thousands of specimens of exotic species, including Burmese pythons, escaped from not only homes, but also from exotic wildlife facilities.
any other non native venomous snakes loose in Florida?? mamba??.........tiger snake??
All the training you need is how to handle a good stout sharp shovel. Remove head from it's body. End of nasty snake.
Kill the people who brought them here assholes
Except a snake can strike a 1/3rd of their body length. Fine for most pythons but with a big snake (15+ feet)if you can get it with the shovel it can get you.
@@jacobcarolan1172 So, bring a bat and a shovel.
Why not use snake traps?
I've eaten rattlesnake, one of the best dishes ever. Would there be a market for eating these snakes?
I just read that these Burmese pythons and other top predators in the Everglades contain high levels of mercury, so the meat would be unsafe to eat.
Should be .410 Gauge Patrol.
rabbits are natures gardeners. the correct rabbit count will keep the correct plant count in the environment. not only do rabbits eat plants, they are required for plants to grow.
there are more pythons in private homes than outside. When these pythons are getting real big the owners release them in the Everglades.
Sometimes, if a species has created such an upset to the lands and wildlife, then it is a smart option to open a hunting initiative. This initiative, in the case of an invasive species such as this, should prove to have value on a market for snake skins. This is a positive way to create the necessary licensing or certification programs for humane hunting, killing, and utilization of the meats & skins that this snake offers. Proceeds from selling skins can be then allocated back into new revitalization programs for species fallen due to it's respective rise. IDENTIFY-CONTROL-PROCESS-REVITALIZE= JOBS!
Caught two 8+ footers on lower Alabama on hog hunting trips
Lower Alabama ? How'd it get that far west ?
Those snakes sure don't care about the suffering they cause their victims..so don't worry about hurting then..they are cold blooded..they have no feelings.
We need to build a wall and make the snakes pay for it.
Boaman5435 TheAnacondaLover You’re name says it all.
@@Ac42567 never trust a snake lover..
lol dude they're fuckin wild animals, they're not doing anything wrong, they're just trying to survive. blame the assholes who let them out in the wild in the first place.
I have a cure just get your gun out and shoot the bastards
They do have a big hunt every year where they big money for every one of the snakes killed and they have people who hunt year round...but when each snake can lay up to 100+ eggs a year and eats any and everything it is almost a loosing battle plus they are so well hidden in the underbrush that you never see them!
Yep get em
More Govt/Media B/S!!!
Gucci needs to invest in these snakes as their leather other than the Reticulated python. That’ll help if there’s an industry for it
Put a bounty on them .... create an income stream even if you have to licence hunters.
Wow I didnt know it was that bad.
What is the penalty for releasing an exotic snake into the wild? Is it legal to own this kind of snake inside Florida after ll the damage done to other animals?
Hi Rilla -
We know that the septic bed was extended when the addition was done. We have had it pumped regularly; most recent was last Nov. At that time we asked for report card from their perspective. Happy to scan and forward if requested. There is a backflow valve - had in installed a few pump outs ago.
The dock is secured with 6 point anchorage and remains year round. (12 years).
The wall unit downstairs will stay.
Keep us posted and thanks for your efforts.

another way is for places to start selling the meat. if people will buy it then people will catch them and sell them to the place that sells the meat.
I'm pretty sure Snake meat is not a big seller in America.
i agree but neither were tacos till people started buying them.
its not the taste of the meat its how it is cooked and what its in.
take beef and make a burger using 0 salt and its not as good. add equal portions of bread and beef together then and salt its much better mix the salt with the beef instead of sprinkling it on the top its even better.
first person to make it taste good in some way and to facebook the results with reviews of a 3 star or more will bank. considering people dont want to eat snake right this second.
***** Unfortunately, neither hunting them or eating them will work as they are virtually impossible to find. The everglades, where the pythons are an issue, covers and immense swath of land and is nearly impossible to traverse. The only time people find them is when they venture on the periphery of the everglades - soaking up the sun on the sides of roads. The actually did a hunt for the pythons not too long ago, and it was generally a failure for the reasons above.
Protin Pictures pigs are impossible to get rid of in the south but they have people that catch and kill them. usually its 100 bucks per pig and they get to keep the meat. alligators are dangerous and protected so people farm them and let them go. on top of that they have people get tags and catch so many a year for meat and hide.
the python being a problem creates economic demand and the people hunting them will come up with plenty of ways to find them. it would also bring down the cost of snake skin things.
so we do nothing and cry about it or bank on it like the capitalists that we are.
saying we cant do anything because one person tried, is not how life works. you adapt an understand you have a million more options. did apple make a great iphone yet? nope but they never gave up and still to this day people buy the crap.
imatelly: stop telling us we should eat filthy things. We are humans, not dogs!
Just an Idea. What about snake birth control or sterilization via air born delivery via aircraft?
DNA analyst would possibly be the key in controlling or diminishing the snake population.
Wow already 8 years but the problem still remain.
They need to come out with a reward big $$ for the best idea to eradicate these snakes. I don't live in that state but do have an idea that may work. I'm just waiting for them to put out a reward for the best idea. Is it worth a couple million to eliminate the snake?
Cook and eat all those pythons
Like when Columbus and his cohorts landed in India ... I mean America.
Like when Cortez and his cronies went after the Aztecs ...
And we call these snakes apex predators!! 😂😂😂
bring the african honey badger and the indian mongoose to south florida and watch how fast the python population goes down!
Tommy Antonacci 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭 they won't be able to kill the fatties
Nope. they feed on baby pythons. before they become Fatties.
Then the badger and mongoose will eat our flamingo eggs.
The python is to fat they would eat them,
..The mongoose and badger can only kill the smaller Pythons, for the larger ones the only known land animals to kill large adult Pythons are Tigers and Leopards.
365 day hunt to eliminate them. That's the solution for these predators.
Boots
Drones and underwater drones
Are they edible?
R McShan
sure! nutritious, too! all snakes are. They are rich in vitamin A, D, and E. They have a high grams of protein also. eat them with fries.
I just read that these Burmese pythons and other top predators in the Everglades shouldn't be hunted for food because they contain dangerously high levels of mercury.
Use a Black Light when you hunt at night
I afraid to go in Florida just for Pytons.Brrrrr….
When pythons eat porcupines, they die! Plant large amounts of porcupines in the areas where the snakes live and they will eat themselves too death
How about open season, at all times, with no limits, ever. Florida's dicking around with this situation too much and too slow.
Bounty on the pythons = Cobra Effect all over again.
Introduce the honey badger
Tell Cajuns they taste good.....end of problem
No cajuns in Everglades.
Hunt and destroy
This why Australia has stricked immigration laws.
Maybe Burma has a solution
stricked? Do you mean strict?
ppl that feed live animals to these beasts n call them "pets" should be charged with cruelty to animals.
SICK.
Lk4ahro Cal me a wimp I dont care I cant bear such a horrible scene kill these evil creations of lucifer I dislike mice but I cant watch the poor creature die but I can sure take pleasure in chopping these snakes to bits!
That’s easy one just get some honey badger they eat snakes like kids eating candy
They should also train people how a python nest looks like. If you destroy their nest with eggs, that is dozens of future pythons killed on spot.
Health care system tells the public python will cures erectile dysfunction and there's a limited number of snake then people will take care of the problem.
Bounty time
A sad story
This situation has existed for 50 years now. 50 phukin years! The people in charge only work 30 for a career and retire.
Im looking to get down there and hunt for pythons. I have raised pythons and ball pythons most of my life . im looking for someone with private property that would like to have them removed from there property.
Why don't they start baiting them with smaller hooks like they do on the TV show "Swamp People"?
If a Zoo here in California had its snake enclosures destroyed from an earthquake or a storm like how Florida had from a Hurricane that started all this mess, along with the public letting loose their over sized Pythons they could no longer handle, here they would have no where to breed, California is a semi tropical state more towards the arid side because of its large lower and high deserts that take up 1/4 of the state while the rest of the state has no swamp lands at all and is mostly the wrong climate for such snakes.
We did have about a thousand different species of tropical birds let loose from our Busch Gardens back in the 1970's when they were removing the rides and some piece of a roller coaster hit these enclosures perfectly letting free Macaw's and all kinds of Parrots now making Los Angeles their home with no affects on the local habitat. But can they be noisy!
