- The Burmese Python Problem In The Florida Everglades And Iguana Problem In South Florida. Travis from iwonder TV went to the Florida Everglades to meet Trapper Mike Kimmel aka The Python Cowboy. Python hunter Trapper Mike Kimmel is a well known trapper and has been on the news for many of his captures. The Burmese Python is an invasive species that has eaten its way though much of the native wildlife in the florida everglads. A spike in the number of green iguanas in Florida has also prompted an increase of calls to the python cowboy to come hunt iguanas. Florida iguana hunting is spiked because the climate change is contributing to their growing numbers. South Florida has not had a cold snap to reduce the number of iguanas. The Python Cowboy has dedicated his life to Python hunting in hopes that one day the native wild life will return once again.

Bitten By A Snapping Turtle Gone Wrong... the snapping turtle would not let GO!!! ruclips.net/video/j5ScORJTWt0/видео.html
He really tied their hands behind their backs like criminals Lmaooo....that one iguana was like "Get me a lawyer this is bullshit!!"
He should have said "you have the right to remain silent anything you say or do can be used against you in a court of law".
@@shaundouglas2057
He did say that. Did you not watch? Lol
@@mattwestcigarreviews My computor has no sound.
the iguana was probably yelling 'I'm a sovereign citizen you can't stop me'

I have a tremendous amount of respect for you trappers who capture pythons and iguanas. I grew up in Casselberry until 1963 then we moved to California. You people are "very brave."
That snake definitely acted like it had been a pet. I think he's spot on with that guess.
That's exactly how my big ones act when I take them out of their cage.
Also, most of the pythons found in Florida are not from people letting pets go. A large breeding facility was hit by a hurricane at one point. That's where they came from.
Good to know. I assumed it was pets let go.
Really?! I lived in Florida years ago in Palm Beach on the island… But I have been in the Everglades, and went to the University of Miami also… Lived in Zolfo Springs on a small pond, in a tent, right across from a resident alligator, who was pretty large! Think he had his gator hole right there… He would sunbathe right across from us during the day and cruise around and hunt at night... A bit scary. I named him Barney google! You know, with the Goo goo googled eyes!! At night all you could see were the red eyes with the flashlight pointed his direction, sticking up from out of the water as he cruised around in the pond! This is so fascinating about the pythons! And the iguanas also in this fellows video! I had no idea! That wasn’t a problem at all when we lived down there years ago! The thing then was the killing of the gators and the populations going way down, getting close to an endangered species… But then they clamped down on that and the gators came back, right?!!
Note: he doesn't just hunt snakes, he hunts " big ass snakes". Sounds like pythons to me.
the only big ass snake I know of are the politicians sitting at their computers all day and making laws that take away a litlte more of our freedom!
I imagine "BIG ASS snakes "would be easy to find. just look in the tall grass for a big ass Butt Crack!
Lol
Man it may be minimum wage, but it’s an honest living and you are doing something good for the community and environment. It’s an important job. I wish they paid you more but please continue the great job, you make a difference.
minimum wage for hunting iguana is better than mc donalds. I use to catch iguanas when I was a kid
Well I mean, PLUS 24$ a foot, selling the skin, wallets, food..... Makes WAY MORE then min wage after all is said and done!
@@incidentalist Gas probably consumes alot of money though.
I'm cracking the hell up..."um I read them their rights in Iguana court...I restrain them...." ...that was Hilarious!!!
hell them Iguanas have more rights then the local criminals
did youhold their head so as not to injure them as they entered the cruiser?
I didn’t hear that part yet. But it’s crazy because I’m sitting here saying “this guy wants to be a cop so bad. “
Right!? Was fkn hilarious!! Their little legs lmao!! Nice wallets im sure though!!

A pack of smokes - no lighter
How is this guy supposed to rest!!
Me a Trinidadian hearing about a iguana infestation: That would go down good in some stew with some dumplings.
It's amazing to me that these iguanas are this comfortable strolling in people's backyard in large groups. Get about 12 Trinis out dey... Population controlled.😂😂
checking back after the cold snap and seeing all of them falling out of the trees. he called it
I'll take iguanas over the New York city rat infestation
Nicholas Gonzalez, I never thought of that. There’s a lot of rats in NY. I walk by these big iguanas several times a week and they scare the hell out of me. I live in a HOA so there’s nothing I can do except see their population explode.
Rats would eat them instead
How about we ship the snakes caught in the Everglades to NY to curb the rat problem ?
@@Just_Brigood nope wont work the Rats and the homeless will eat them all .
Nothing but meat
Nicholas Gonzalez: The fat lady says NO!!
I am someone who loves and keeps reptiles of all Kinds. But doing this is incredibly important to the natural Environment. It truely is astonishing what a big Problem the iguanas are. Using as much of an harvested animal as possible is so important in my opinion and he is doing such a good Job, not just killing the animals but being respectful with them, not wanting them to suffer in any way. Lots of respect!
LMAO he had those iguanas tied up dead like a cartel killing
I wanna come to USA and hunt !!
I’d well enjoy this , if I was American I’d be all over this 👍🏼🏴
Those airboats look so fun. God bless you guys.
They are! but can be dangerous
1.54, santa clause certaintly seems to enjoy em.
Been watching for a few weeks now. Really enjoy the vids. Would you consider posting on Rumble? I’m Sick of the RUclips bias and would like to totally boycott this venue. Thanks for your work!
That last snake that was letting you handle it... tears me up thinking that it might have been someone's pet at some point. Totally sucks that this problem is do to irresponsible pet owners.
Yep totally sucks Its not the animals fault they are where they are, stupid ass people
Too bad we can't harvest the pet owners. Their skins would make good lampshades and bones would make great knife handles, their guts good fertilizer
The other comments are fucking weird.....But I was going to say, some pet owners, shops, and sanctuaries lost lots of animals due to hurricanes. Which as a pet owner, breaks my heart. But that's why we need to work together to solve the problem of invasive species, wherever you are. We can't just hope someone else will do it,because that's what happened here and why it's gotten so out of hand.
and it amazes me we couldn't see this coming?
I also heard a zoo of some sort was destroyed in Hurricane Andrew which freed multiple snakes
Put a decent bounty on the pythons, iguana and feral hogs....the problem will go away quick
People raise them, and then turn in their raised specimens for cash. Your idea isn't thought out
@@kentfink9509 hehe
@@kentfink9509Kill them by any means possible and let the native wild life make a comeback . So folks think more of snakes and alligators than they do humans .
@@kentfink9509 You are joking right? Do you realize that would probably cost more than you would make from the bounty? Bounties are actually usually too effective and almost put the animals into extinction. Just look at the Thylacine/Tasmanian Tigers that were bounty hunted to extinction not to mention tons of other examples that are now endangered because of bounties.

@Tyrone Notwatson Oh, now you're pretending to know "my type". Aww, the name calling is just so pathetic and low IQ.
I'm a reptile breeder (don't deal with any of the species invasive to Florida), and seeing the big sweetheart of a snake he caught breaks my heart. She definitely has the temperament of a former pet.
The idea of someone just releasing her into the wild is such a cold thing to do.
Well, they are cold blooded animals.
@@enofzeworl What. How is that relevant to what I said?
Great jog Wiz! Thank you thank you for helping to clean out these invasive top predators. None of our wildlife stand a chance agaist these things. Clean them out with no mercy. I hope you make a good living at this.
Dude what you do is amazing. Keep up the fantastic work
The burmese python is the largest predator in Hong Kong. Gets your attention if you almost step on one.
So if this guy catches just 2 of these per day, 5 days a week, it’s $130,000 in a year... not too bad

🇨🇦 Hello from Ontario Canada. I'm a new subscriber, just came across one of your videos 2 1/2 hours ago! I've been watching steady since the first one I came across. Your videos really are "GREAT"!.
Thanks for keeping it real. These are no small pythons that your catching. I've been going south since being a small child. I love the everglades. It's beautiful. So so happy I came across your videos. Looking forward to watching more and following along to see where your off to next to pick up more of them. So happy to see people out there doing their best to get them out of there. Thank you so much for what your doing! Best of luck and plz stay safe! 🙏👍🐍🐍🐊
This is amazing!! Not sure if I could eat iguana meat, but I love how he tries to use every part of the animal.
Greetings from south central Kentucky. Impressed with your work! Very interesting! Fortunately, we don't have pythons or iguanas in Kentucky. Just coyotes.
You are freaking nuts dude. God bless ya !
Not only will we never get all the pythons out of the Everglades, we will never be able to even control their expansion! With all the python hunters we have out there and the contests we have, we wind up killing a few hundred snakes a year. Meanwhile, every single female python out there -and there are tens of thousands- lays hundreds of eggs a year!
Your best video to date .. in my opinion. I didn't want it to end.
With so many channels of python hunters, the problem must be huge. Thank you for your work. NE FL resident.
These snakes should have been outlawed and never sold as pets.
right! lol
It's all about the money.. and making money.. that's all that matters..
For real. I bought a 9-foot Burmese , and he was an unruly bastard. Don't even remember how I got rid of him. Saw 3 guys bring a 24-footer into one of the reptile swaps I used to go to. Ginormous. Half her body was at least 15 inches diameter.
You breedingshould be outlawed as your just an idiot for commenting that. Do some research, alot of the wild pythons werent released by pet owners. There are pictures of men holding burmese pythons back in the 40's the US customs had released some from confiscation shipments of imported pythons. Then a few hurricanes had deatroyed some facilities releasing some into the wild.
@@inescapableutopia4505 obviously your an idiot for getting it because burmese pythons are pretty docile even wild caught ones settle down fairly quick once it realizes your not gonna eat it. So obviously yours was unruley because you never handled it or gave it enough enrichment. Thats not the snakes fault
i love what y'all are doing for the native wildlife and the humane method of it. keep up the awesome work!
Your video makes me feel so happy, I've felt for years that this invasion of pythons in the everglades needed to be handled just like you are doing it. Their leather is so beautiful, makes good jeans, jackets, vests, even coats, not just belts boots and wallets. I didn't know about the invasive iguanas, but I was familiar with their beautiful skins and edibility. Keep up the good work. I love snakes when they are friendly, but then I like chickens too, doesn't mean I think they are not edible.
That’s terrible. What we do to these animals for our materialistic pleasures.
Trapper Mike is a total bad ass! I saw him on a "Barstool" (YT Channel) episode. He's awesome & I am so thankful for people like him that have made it their mission to help get a hold on these invasive species down in the Everglades.
Much respect to u bro u seem like a VERY busy guy!!!Thank u for getting those snakes that idiots let loose
You're doing a fantastic job out there! I wish there were more people like you trying to get rid of those invasive creatures destroying the everglades.
Wow! Thank you from Mount Dora, Fl. Subscribed!
Man, all the power to you. God bless you on this perilous job.
Hey man, I like what you're doing. Those pythons can really hurt a person if they don't know how to handle a python or anaconda. As for the big lizards they look like could be a pain in the butt. Just be careful and safe. ❤
this seems like the coolest job ever! I want to do this!
outstanding video...most enjoyable. you know we see these steve irvin/turtle-man wanna-be's show up all the time......but ray charles could see this guy is the real-deal holyfield for sure....and the iguana harvest was too much too...kutgw!!!
good to see so many humans concerned about wildlife and conservation across the world rather than the thrill of the kill
That was crazy 😜...I couldn't do it LOLLL but I'm
Glad someone does...
I'm right there with lol
I’ve known of this python problem for 20 years. I’ve written to state and federal congressmen but to no avail. You’re the answer to prayer, Mike. If Florida had a couple of hundred just like you, we could really effect the python population. I know that biologists are working on this problem and eventually this is where the problem will be rectified. Thank you so much for your efforts, Mike, you’re an answer to prayer. Each time to pull a snake out of the Everglades, you save the life of a native species.
biologists don’t do a damn thing but write their papers and push pencils. problems like this require boots on the ground like travis.

When did the Iguana's get introduced into the Everglades. Is there any hope in the future of eradicating them.
this is the first ive heard of Iguanas being a pest and over running the Everglades! there was only talk about ferral hogs and Boas
I love them, I think they are hilarious. But I sure wouldn’t want to be mowing the lawn and have one come charging out of the shrubbery at me! 😳

Good onya mate. You are a courageous bastard. Good work!
Thank you to this fellow in this video who made this film! Collecting iguanas and pythons! Thank you so very much for your service! And you’re educating the public! Such as me! And others! And I’d love the way you talk about the snakes and the iguanas with such great love and respect! Thank you so very much… And it’s wonderful the program that the state has, and what you are doing also, taking in the iguanas and making leather out of them, or keeping them or giving them to other people or somehow trying to keep them alive, etc.
I was on a plane once, and there were snakes all over the damn plane.
you mean a plane full of politicians?
The iguanas are very common - first quirky thing that happened to me when I moved to WPB was almost hitting a large one running across U.S.1 with the moving truck. But the Curly-tail lizards are ubiquitous. For every iguana you'll see a hundred of them. I also removed a Knight Anole (Cuban Tree Lizard) from in front of a neighbor's apartment door. They have the same features and proportions as the little green and brown anoles, but almost identical in coloration and size to an iguana. Tarantulas, exotic scorpions and centipedes, assorted monitors and of course a plethora of non-native snake species - you name it. and it has most likely been inadvertently released into South Florida.
There is a 12 guage solution .
As an iguana owner myself it’s hard for me to watch this but I understand why it needs done.. I would capture a few and sell them and then capture a few more and that’s how I would go about it but I would love to snake hunt with you! If your ever do a hunt with someone let me know man I know what I’m doing and love the wild
Your work is greatly appreciated.
Gary Dasilva Thankyou!!

18:52 I can't believe the size of that snake! I didn't see a damn thing until he started pulling it out of the weeds.
amazing how they can hide in plain sight
This is so cool. Back in 1987 I used to go to reptile swaps, and these 3 guys brought in this 24-foot Burmese super ginormous old mama. Without eating she was at least 17 inches in circumference. She was so majestic, but i was totally cool with her not giving me a hug.
THIS MAN IS THE TRUTH
He's on minimum wage from the state 25 dollars a foot for a snake, 50 dollars for the little ones plus iguanas and he gets to keep the animal to turn into food and leather, he must be making a killing! Well played
Why is it still legal to buy or own these snakes?
Richard Upyurass ~ Right??! There’s a huge black market in exotic species smuggling, however. I personally don’t get owning them as pets.
The same reason you can still buy and sell cocaine
Money is mans god
These we're at one point legal to own pets, they actually aren't that hard to take care of with the proper equipment. The problem is no one does the research for the pet they want and they just kill them or release them. You need a permit to buy one of these snakes now and even then, it's a process. They are beautiful creatures when they aren't released into their non native area.
@@TheFuzzieWuzzie I would love to see your evidence of said black market exotic animal smuggling, and what that has to do with these Burmese Pythons in Florida.

Aw. I know they’re invasive but I always hate seeing death of a living thing. It’s a shame people let these out as pets and caused this problem. How many are there running around out there?
over 100,000.....wildlife is down 90 %.
Releasing an invasive species into the wild should carry with it an automatic state prison sentence. In fact, it shouldn't even be legal to keep an animal that doesn't exist in the wild in North America. But try to explain that to some clown who goes to the mall with a python wrapped around his neck, and he'll probably start spouting off about the constitution, a document he's never read.
I mean are you suggesting we get rid of our dogs, cats, and horses because none of which are native to North America and all were brought by the Europeans. Cattle too. Bison would be ok though.
Tyler Nolan is a lot more gentle when he captures the iguanas. He also doesnt just kill them.A lot of the pythons are donated to snake owners and fed to other snakes.
Love to go in a hunt with this man

He spent a lot of time wrestling with the large snakes...I would wear some kind of gloves ...and use a machete....need a daily pickup of dead snakes.
listen to what he said. He kills them on the last day. You can't keep dead snakes in the everglades with 90 degree temps every day. He wrestles them for a while because they don't have a mammal mitochondria to give them more energy they get worn out quickly.
If the meat doesnt get picked up then it becomes food for the other snakes. Why feed them when youre trying so hard to get rid of them? Plus, theyre not telling how much $ they make on selling them to colllectors.
