Absolutely. When it's cheaper to buy a whole new car than repair one with 200,000 miles on the clock that otherwise still works, something isn't being accurately priced into the cost of that new car (or perhaps the disposal of the old one).

Seeing Barron make a call on his cell phone and use a laundry machine is so alarming. So happy you guys took a break at a hot spring RV park. I lived at an RV park for almost 2years and worked a 9-5 job and felt a lot of judgement with the stigma of a RV park. Thanks for normalizing it or dare I say, make it look cool :)

Barron did a great job with his "Car Talk." I support keeping the Subaru. Even when you buy a piece of property, you can get a utility trailer to pull with the Subaru instead of a truck. I used to have a 2004 Forrester and it pulled a 10ft utility trailer with no problem at all. I still don't own a truck and I have a much larger RV than the Scamp. I find an SUV is a much more useful tow vehicle than a truck.

On cars: It really comes down to dependability and expense of repairs as to that dependability. We had a faithful 1999 4runner for 21 years that took us all over Colorado and Utah. After my husband passed away it turned over 287K miles and it just wasn't practical to do repairs as frequently. You guys maintain your subaru well. There just comes a point of " will i be stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere or do I need something more dependable". Without my husbands help anymore I had to give in and get something newer. Cool video you guys!

I know zip about camping, but watching you guys makes me want to quit my job and buy a camper. Of course, I wouldn’t really do it, but the traveling would be great. 🤔😊

My partner and I live in the wilderness of northern 🇨🇦 and we, like you, drive older vehicles that are perfect for our lifestyle, our rugged roads, and crazy winter conditions. When you have the right vehicle, you know it, therefore you love it and take care of it. Our vehicles have lasted us a long time and have taken us to many amazing places.

I've been binging on your videos for the past week and you two are by far my favorite nomadic couple. It's even got me looking in the building my own trailer.

I appreciate your car talks, Barron. I learn a lot. A lot of people just take cars, SUVs for granted and do not think about optimal use. That looked like a really nice place.

I remember when I could eat some sugar junk food...well, I can probably eat some now, but I’d feel like ick. Nice hot springs, even with the people. Looking forward to how the big snow storm affected you.

I love it... regarding the dryer -- "Why don't they make it low- medium and high instead of things that don't make sense." :) ha ha.

I love how you shared how shy you are at meeting new people. Proud of you for pushing through to say hi. I’m totally like you in regards to filming in public. You did good!! I enjoy your videos so much. You are so talented and I admire all the hard work you two put into making these for us to enjoy. Thank you.

I like that you’re keeping your Subaru. Makes sense to me. We have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee we figure we just have to do maintenance on. Still cheaper than new and we love it

Attention Barron's Car Talk: We are on our third Subaru. The first was a two-seater that we were the second owners of and we saw it through 377k miles and it was still driveable and running when it left us. It succumbed to an accident at something near 450k miles. The second was an older station wagon still going strong at 295k miles when it met a horse in the middle of the highway. The 3rd is a 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback which we've only managed to put 91k miles on in the 20 years we've had it, and only 90k because we've slowed down. It hasn't. Stay with the Subaru. One last thing Elsa is just completely and absolutely so cute.

@Mitch Hannah - Love a Subaru!!! Was your first a goldenrod Sonnet?
My current is 2009 Outback w/ 175,+++ miles.
The previous 2001 LLB Outback lasted 299,89+ miles when it was totaled and if the frame had not been bent, I would have kept it since I had recently replaced the entire suspension & brake systems and had tires with only 2 seasons on them.
The prior 1998 Outback, at just over 200,000 miles, had a similar frame issue, plus the car computer got destroyed and I let people talk me out of trying to fix it.

One thing that is really important to prolong the life of the drive train is to change the power transfer case gear oil in the front and rear differential. A lot of manufacturers claim the oil is for life, not so. Happy travels!
