This is a simple explanation & easy to follow Pierre. I don't need to touch my EHA at the moment, but I view your videos when I can.
Thank you from Australia.
Thank you esteemed sir. After working on CIS for 50 years am finally taking a fuel distributor apart for inspection. What genius design and amazing machine work. No wonder so many brands used this system. Biggest problem I've seen is old fuel contamination.
Amazing
Just did this on my 190e 2.3-16
The car is awake!
Excellent presentation, great production, and most informative We thank you,for your efforts and time.Well done Pierre.
you're most welcome!
Pierre is great.
Im a land rover guy from texas and just finished fixing up a 88 w126 300se. Thanks for the in depth explanation of how to adjust the valve i got mine just right i think. Subbed thanks again!
After this adjustment the check engine light stayed on for 30 seconds then off then on briefly the off and it stayed off. So that's interesting. I think it's fine. It readjusted itself perhaps to the new fuel mixture I think. Thank You. Priceless information.
Thanks a lot, my 190E problem is solved !! Poor acceleration and impossible to drive more than 80 km/h ... thanks to you now a rocket !😄Just 1/4 screw changes all 👍
Recently replaced my EHA and car ran good and smooth. Took out for a longer drive and then took a while to start. Watched this video and adjusted 1/4 turn in and would not start. Then backed it out 1/2 turn (1/4 turn from original position)and seems to be running well. Smooth again and guess we will see when I take it for a longer ride. Great job on the videos. Very informative.
thank you Robert and good luck!!!!!!!!
did it have any more problems?
@@MrRjnr no, it did not.
Thankyou kindly fromAustralia! stumbling on take off from lights when its at operating temp is exactly my problem!

thanks so much for this....the k and ke systems are tough for a DIY guy to understand...really appreciate it!
Just gave you a little donation. Your vids have helped me a heap and saved me money. I own a W116 280s and a w201 180e (190e 1.8ltr).

Will try this adjustment on my 89, 560SL, no vacuum leaks, my issue is very hard starting and hesitation after car sitting for 3 years, if no improvements, would love to take to you!!
Thank you for the help !!!! keep the good work ( Armando from Portugal )
Thanks for this Pierre. I've always looked at the HSA and just hoped I never had to mess with it.
don't be afraid of it
Hello Pierre,
Would you describe step by step procedure of adjusting EHA valve on 1986 190e 2.3 w201. I appreciate if you indicate on each step engine/Ignition off or on, the tester valve open or close. I have a hard time to get a right value, somehow I am not doing it correctly. If you do a video it would be by far better, but steps of process is great also. Thank you
Biggest thank you.
Great video I've watched it a couple times trying to figure out my 420sel rough running issue after warm I think I'll test it and give it a shot. The what was replaced by a mechanic and I don't think he calibrated it and then the idle speed adjustment.
Great video. My 1992 MB w124 3.0 cold start is fine but it very hard to start when car is hot (operating temperature ) , can you give me an idea what can be wrong. I did adjust pressures 5.0-5.4 bar system an differential, can it be bad crankshaft sensor?
Interesting! Glad you have new and better equipment!
well, we are trying!
Awesome! Thank you very much. Hope to see you at Amelia island 2020.
That's gold right there.

thanks Eduardo...how is the 450SEL coming alone?
@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753 Thank for asking Pierre! I am still getting all the necessary parts to make the whole job at once, need to buy now a new fuel pump and accumulator, also found out distributor has been modded to work as a pulse sender, probably will need another one too. When I arrive from the rig I am going to install the door actuator vaccum system back!
Great video, very helpful when I adjusted my EHA
My 1990 300e runs fine at first start up but stumbles after that and plugs are fouled up. New spark plugs, disturber cap, and rotor button. Now, I have no check engine light or any kind of light on the dash. So I don’t think it’s an o2 sensor since I would think it would throw a code.
Excellent information. Thank You
Great channel and great tech!
Home mechanic benz enthusiast here…inherited 1986 300 sl. 76k miles. Tuned regularly by benz shop but could never solve a problem. Every other day of driving it will drastically stumble off the line creating a dangerous drive. Then returns after feathering throttle. OR at highway speed it will buck or starve for fuel. Starts ok hot or cold. Will high idle occasionally. Puzzled then I might try this?
@0:16 no im here for your rants and the music
So interesting, Thanks Pierre!
Great info thanks
You made a comment that gave me some hope on solving my starting problems. I have replaced all of the likely suspects and still won't fire. I loosen one of the fuel lines on the top of the fuel distributor and for the first time the engine stumbles - still doesn't start, but this is the first glimmer of hope. Any thoughts?

New subscriber here just found out from a shop my sec is misfiring in four cylinders..
thanks fore the gerat tipps
I watched your video and it gave me good information!
But, I have a few questions, that you might be able to answer.
Somewhere on the internet, I read that the "factory" setting for the EHA is about 7 turns, if it's screwed all the way in and 7 out. When the car is running then and the connector for the EHA is unplugged, the cars runs bad. That, in my opinion, tells that the EHA is working, as it should. But the car is not running with full performance (with the 7 turn adjustment) the best option, for my car is 6,25 turns from bottom. Engine is fully rebuilt, bored, balanced, oversize pistons (M103 engine) and a hotter camshaft. When the EHA is unplugged, with the 6,25 option - there's no difference, engine runs same, plugged or unplugged... but why?
The exhaust smells bad of gas then, but as you are mentioning in your video, the idle air mixture should be adjusted then, because of the EHA adjustment, to compensate.
So, EHA and idle air mixture needs to be touched, when one of them is adjusted, the other needs to be adjusted "the other way"?
Very good adjusted now running can u advise as fuel pressure stays the same 5.7 bar adjustment does not raise pressure but running changes regards paul merc 300 sl r107
1988 w126 300sel.
Was replacing the spark plug wires/cap and rotor and noticed a fuel smell. Traced the fuel leak back to the EHA.
Not sure if the 2 green seals are good or not. The seals have no cracks and are not deformed.
I removed and cleaned the seals and reinstalled. Still observing fuel leaking between the EHA and the distributor flat surface (top).
I'm hoping its the seals and not a bad EHA.
There is a weep hole on the outside of the EHA but I'm not sure what its for.
I think you may have a bad EHA. I have not figured out what the weep hole is for either
@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753
Will report back. Going to replace the seals first then go from there. Thanks for the quick reply
yes, i would do the same thing.
@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753
Yup, you got it right. Bad EHA.
Is there any difference on going with a new Bosch EHA vs the Genuine MB EHA? I can save significant amount of money by going with the Bosch EHA from FCP Euro (lifetime warranty) vs the Genuine MB unit with my discount. Both are by Bosch.
I'm expecting a headache because I know that the new EHA is going to require adjustments.
Replaced the EHA today. No adjustment needed. I thought for sure that I was going to have to adjust it. WOW!!! Car runs amazing. No stumbling and no hesitation. Will report back in a few weeks.
Great!!
question : that adjusting screw can be turned 30 times around, till it sits at it deepest position. Yes , I messed it up . Can you give me an approx turns where I can have that 0.4 bar difference so I canstart from there again. Thx !!
2 years late but responding in case someone else did the same thing. Go all the way CLOCKWISE until the 2mm seats and then turn it 6 full 360’s counterclockwise and from there it’ll start and you’ll be able to dial it in

hi ... my father have a 1985 w124 230e that its not in good shape so im starting to fix what i can... the car starts every time and the engine works, but its burning a lot of gas and oil, spark plugs are carbonized, also the economy gauge is always at full even when car its in idle, so i noticed that the EHA its unpluged, pcv vent hose its loose and smoking a lot, fuel pump relay its missing insted we have direct contact with a cable etc... the car its a mess but i love it, so can you tell me what you think and what should i do or where to begin? thank you and greetings from Ecuador!
Hi, I have a 190e thats been parked up for 15 or so years... I've replaced the fuel pump and filter, cleaned out the tank and lines and have rebuilt the distributor pump. The fuel pump is working and i have fuel at the distributor pump but im not getting any at the injectors. What else should I be testing?? Thanks.
Hi. Thanks for the video. Do you have any other for my 1988 MB 300 CE seatbelts arms system calibration ?
There are two microswitches on the mechanisme. Detecting innner position and outer position. If those are not sticky or have an open circuit all the time , you best bet will then the control box. Its a simple system.
Hello, how do I know if it is a malfunction? Does the malfunction cause the engine to vibrate?
Come on, folks. Don’t mooch; join Pierre’s Patreon group. Tech question. Would this part be found on my 1992 Euro M104 C124?
yes...last year of KE system!
Could you please do a video on the 190e a good review or your thoughts on the model . There is no recent videos on RUclips and not enough I feel

@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753 I left the comment 4 years ago Pierre ! Please do a review on the American version of the 190e 2.6 . I would love to hear your take !
Pierre, I just signed up at the $10 level (under the name Dalton Jones). I had a rough idle when hot starting so I replaced the AFM potentiometer and adjusted the duty cycle. That fixed the hot idle for about 10 days but then it came back, although not as bad (it clears up within 2 minutes of a hot start). Should I consider adjusting the EHA? The O2 sensor is newish (12K miles ago) and it's been fully tuned up.
Dalton, what model do we have in question? it seems to me like there could be a leaking injector. please email me at mbownersforlife@bellsouth.net
Hi
I have a low idle issue. I get 5 Bars of pressure increasing to 5.4 bars with valve open. Does this mean my EHA and fuel mixture are good? Can I move on and look for Vacuum leaks. Very informative vids. Cheers
Thank you for this video it is really helpful
However i face the poor combustion from engine every time the fuel tank goes empty and refill again.
I have to adjust the Actuator to run again fully.
What can i do to overcome this continuous adjustments?
Did I understand correctly, if you turn the screw in, you increase the amount of fuel? Thanks for this Video ,from Germany
Time to spit some flames
so when i go eha in , i should do out for the idle so everything on idle smooth out right ?
👍💪
What is the reason for the vibration of the shop, how to fix it
Thank you for sharing this. I’ve recently acquired a 93 190e 2.3 that has this issue but the 02 sensor light is on. I replaced the sensor but the 02 sensor light remains on. Is it possible that a fuel mixture issue can be causing the 02 light to be on even with a brand new sensor?
Please make a video on how to rebuild ke jetronic
Got a 420se. Was standing for a while. Nothing wrong when I parked it. Try start it 2day. Turning but no start. Getting no petrol. Clean the valves on the petrol pumps underneath. Valves we're stuck. Nou it starts. Idle nicely. But when u exselerate it starts to miss and when u take your foot of the pedal it dies when coming down. But starts very easy. Can it also be the EHA valve maybe. Please help. I'm in a wheelchair and needs my car
After researching all the topics about EHA valve still can’t understand one thing. What happens if you start engine with EHA connector unplugged? Can I do that for quick reference test to see if EHA is over dumping fuel into the engine at idle?
Thanks for your video, i have manged to sort out some issues when setting the EHA but left with this issue, on cold start car starts first time, on hot start car needs to crank about 10 to 15 times, is the car lean or rich?
Im having the same problem. I'm curious also
Would this part have anything to do with a LOW idle? I have been through every part of my M103, and it idles and runs nicely, but the spark plugs look totally clean (almost like running lean?) after 200 miles. The idle is also around 400RPM at idle fully warmed up. The low idle is making the economy gauge read about 1/3 to the right. Injectors, o2 sensor, fuel pumps, accumulator, etc etc is all brand new. I have been thinking about adjusting the EHA about 1/8 turn clockwise. What would you do?
FANTASTIC video btw. Back when I was learning about all of this (about 5-6 years ago) it was a very elusive subject, with almost Zero content to help on RUclips. Thank you Pierre, Sincerely.
thank you.
so low idle could be caused by the following items:
-cam timing could be off one tooth....retarded
-idle mixture adjustment, which i think you have tried
-no voltage to idle control valve...icv needs voltage to open
-bad over voltage protection relay
but this is not an EHA issue
Since I am driving a 190E i am watching you and have to admit your knowledge is fantastic like no one else does. But i bought another 190E and the car does have one major issue. When you stop the car the isle rpm goes down to 500rpm and sometimes after still standing he recovers from rhis to the normal idle800rpm roundabout. But sometimes the car stalls. No matter if your are rolling or the car is still standing. I was checking the hole ke-jetronic and looking for leaks, but there is nothing. Do you have any tips or idear what the problem might be. The hall sensor behind the spedometer ais also working great. I have to say the cars nother amjor issue was, that the car didn't had the full power under full throttle. But at 75%to80% throttle the car was running great. So then i adjustest the eha with a 90 degrece turn to rich. And this problem is gone. But not the idel. When you start the car and it is not revving 2000rpm the idel of the car isn't to bad its more okey not so bad. But after you were roling some meters the idle is normaly gone.
I have a 1991 Mercedes Benz 190e 2.3 and on my car this part is leaking gas out on my car
is it really making the mixture richer or leaner or is it increasing the pressure ? debit does not equal pressure and thats my question which one?
What can cause no currant to reach my fuel pump
I have a 1990 W126. It idles perfectly but when you touch the gas pedal it falls on its face. Could this be the fuel distributor or eha a valve?
After start the it should rev higher (1100-1300rpm) for ¿4-10? seconds and then drop to a stable idle.
If not, I'd turn the c0 screw clockwise by not more than 1/4 of a turn to see if you get stable idle.
Please don't take my word as a professional advice and please write down whatever changes you've done to dial back just in case.
the other day my wife had to pull over to the side of the road after a traffic light as the engine all of a sudden stopped making power (injection system was overfuelling),black smoke coming out the back. I disconnected the plug to the EHA and the car was able to be driven normally . Still head scratching as to why it started overfuelling suddenly ......sensor ,wiring or ECU ? still searching cause
Hi I have hi 8 bar in the gayg wht can be the problem?
Hi, just to turn it 1/4 of a turn. does that mean from where the screw sits on any car just turn it 1/4 of a turn? wouldnt that make the settings different for different cars? or do you have to turn it first to a certain position and then do a 1/4 turn? thanks
I have a wideband lambda hooked up on my car, and when i start it i have about 15,5:1 and when i floor it when hot it also leans out, but normal driving and idling it adjust itself and fluctuates between 14,6-14,8. Engine has 400.000km on it and runs great but is a bit slow when i floor it and when cold. I have set the eha HZ to 48HZ but best i have done is 0.95l/km so far and its lean when coldstarted and when i floor it. Do you think its a vacuum leak (cant find any) or that the engine is worn and that we now only have e10 fuel so the eha has to be adjusted?
Just learned about this EHA valve during a smog check. Technician claimed fuel leak. Went to my shop and they found a very very small leak. They replaced the unit in 10 minutes and runs great out of the box. Is it possible for an OEM unit to not need adjustments?
has it remained good?

thanks for the video....what is the method to achieve the same outcome in gen 1 126 euro spec gas cars that i believe do not have ke jet

this is a little more complicated..but to put it briefly, there is a pressure adjustment on the warm up regulator, and pressure control valve in the fuel distributor that must be adjusted together, as well as the airflow plate height adjustment.
I agree with you that on K- Jetronic type of fuel system its a little complicated to check fuel pressure. There are at least four types of fuel pressures to worry about, the system pressure, cold control pressure, warm control pressure and holding pressure. All of these pressures are adjustable if required except the holding pressure. If the holding pressure is outside the tolerance, the fuel system must be check for internal or external fuel leak. Thanks for your very informative video. All the best and stay away from covid.
My mechanic recently replaced (and I assume adjusted) the EHA on my '91 500SL due to its fuel leak, but the rough idle continues, despite new coils/wires/plugs/vacuum hoses/oxygen sensor, and a seemingly working idle control valve (swapped in another used but purportedly-working unit). The only thing left untouched is the KE Jetronic FD; could the EHA have been mal-adjusted?
