IndyCar would be wise to hire someone like Jay who knows cars, racing, etc.

Awesome interview. Mario is great and it's good to see Jay doing something to promote racing in the US. He is definitely right about how to get more fans. People are interested in human characters and whatever they do will also become the interest of the fans. Way too much corporate influence these days, causing drivers and others to say the right things and to be politically correct and sensitive to everybody's feeling instead of speaking their minds more freely.
For example, in a driver interview after a race, I don't want to hear the sponsor corporate line, I want to hear how the driver felt about getting pushed onto the grass, or getting tapped by that new young driver, etc. I want to hear what they really think, not the filtered thoughts so their sponsor doesn't get upset. I wonder if we'll ever get there.

Indycar won't promote their drivers. Sad. Damn, Mario is old as hell and still cooler than me and anyone I know.

They have slowly started trying to do promote their drivers!
      Family Feud 2 years ago
Hinch on Dancing with the Stars
      Ninja Warrior a few times.
      Amazing Race
And Hinch again has been in all the Honda commercials this year, I know thats a Honda promotion but still.

Jeez, that Andretti don't age much! Funny as hell, Jay talking about his old man rooting for the Italians.

Jay is right!! Instead of making it accessible for anyone who is interested, Indycar makes it difficult to get news or dial up a race without "paying" for it. Develop the fan base first before charging fans for content. The "corporate greed mentality" is holding back the growth of this series IMO.

Racing in general has become too corporate and to PC!

    Yep, I agree.
The 'interviews' with drivers that just say "The Valvoline Car' was great, and "The Valvoline" team did a great job in the #21 car.
I want to hear "#42 car is a punk, he has been a bitch all season, I am putting him in the wall in St. Pete"

Entirely too dependent on corporate money. And that will never change. It's not a sport anymore. It's a business. The days of sport and real racing are gone forever.

More accessible? More accessible than what?
