The Australians literally used 1960s VWs to go around in Antarctica (-50 degrees Celsius) so yeah, pretty amazing.

This is an amazing video. First off, you need to share your knowledge on making the aircooled engine run that smooth! Also, you also edited out the right parts to make this video easy to watch without removing the important parts. Plus, you didn't give up too easily moving the car under its own power. You also did everything right. I couldn't make a single suggestion, which i often do watching other videos.

Hello, you should attach the hose from the engine ventilation to the sports air filter from behind, otherwise the intake pipe will freeze over more often👍

I made it as far as trying to start the car and knew she would not fire until the exhaust was cleared.

I admit that that is a lot of snow. However, you could have just cleaned off the car without so much drama and made sure that the exhaust pipes were free of blockage before the whole cranking thing. Even if you got the thing started you couldn't move it until you cleared more snow. I'll edit this after I watch that last 19 minutes of the video. well, 10 minutes left and I stand by my simple impression. Aside from being out of gas, I would say that this is clearly VW bug abuse. Clear the snow properly and the car will move out just fine.

Thank You for your simple impression. By your standards I'm probably guilty of VW abuse on a daily basis. JC. #goofingoff

Do your motor a favour - refit the original air cleaner with a warm air feed, and ditch the crappy aftermarket alloy crank pulley, which will inevitably fail long, long before the original would have done! VW built over 35 million flat fours - they knew their stuff - and I'm not suggesting that you carried out these 'improvements', but most tinkering with these engines is always a backwards step...

Y fck the car. Those tracks is not for this engine they have ton of grip.
