If you know me, I'm a bit picky when it comes to finding a new place. Or maybe I just know what I want, right? I looked at quite a few places until I find the perfect apartment. Do you think I choose the right one, or would you have chosen differently? And yes, I'll have an apartment tour soon!
Oh, and for those of you asking, this is in the Midwest. Lots of rental properties are this cheap in both big and small cities throughout the Midwest. Excluding Chicago and Minneapolis of course.

The artists loft was really cool, but your old place is so cute. It feels so much more cozy and has all those vintage details. Its a hard choice but maybe a loft will be available after your van travels :)
Thats exactly how I felt! I do love the cozy vibes of the apartment I'm living in now. I wish I could combine my apt and the loft vibes in one! Then it would be the best place ever!!

Okay wtf the entire first floor for $750/month. I live in AZ and it’s hard to even get a one bedroom for that, and that place is incredible. I also loved the vintage one bedroom for $650. Like, a lot.
I know! Some places here are crazy cheap! I agree, the one bedroom for $650 was so dreamy
I bet you're up in PHX huh. I'm down in Tucson and I've rented luxury apts down here in the high $700-low$800 range lol

That safe is so badass! I would have fun with it, for sure. But I still like your old apartment more than the lofts! It has much more charm and character, in my opinion. The layout is appealing. Beautiful floors and doorways. And so affordable. Wow.

I live in this city too 🤍. I used to work right by those artist lofts and have an old coworker who lives there. My home requirements were great character, hardwood floors built in woodwork and a great tub. I found that in my current bungalow. So super fun to see these local spaces! TYSM!

WOW! What is this magical city full of beautiful heritage buildings for rent which are so affordable?! Coming from a very high cost of living city, this video has blown my mind.

Oh my goodness we are practically neighbors!! I love the flat iron building!! I looked there too!
the artist loft was gorgeous, but maybe rest assured that it might not be that great to live in - we lived in an old repurposed art factory loft in montreal, and i LOVED it (all that exposed brick and old beams mmm) - but the sound proofing was horrendous! stomping overhead ALL day. drove us out eventually 😜 pros and cons to everything! new (old) place is so cute, and u wont get any rude surprises! congrats, so excited for van vlogs! ☺️
I did kind of think about that, the noise of above neighbors. Thats why I always try to live in the top floor but sometimes I think it def just can't be avoided. But it can forsure ruin a place!
@@brooklynbloom yeah, even just the walls between apts and the ventilation can be weird. things worth putting up with for *~aesthetic~* for a while, but can really ruin a nice place!

Absolutely love your apartment. The artist's lofts were cool, but I'll pick cozy over cool everytime! Plus, with those high ceilings and exposed concrete floors, wouldn't it be difficult/expensive to keep those indistrial-type spaces warm in wintertime? This are the things I worry about ... :)
i totally feel you! I wish I could like mix the loft with the place I'm at now. Then it would be perfect

I have always tripped out on the thought of moving back to my first apartment ! Would just be too cool . Even for just a month ! to revisit the ghosts ...

I love your new old apartment, it's so cute and cosy. Those lofts always look a bit clinical and drafty to me, but I guess it's nice be around other artists in a community.

I live in Brooklyn, rent is $900, apartment size: 375 sq ft./ studio with separate kitchen) (pet friendly building) You can find good places/ prices but it takes time. I don`t know about Manhattan though.

oh hey! So i'm in the midwest. It's super cheap to live here. Most apartments are v affordable and so is the price of living in general.
No contest. I loved the studio you paid the deposit on, it's stunning. Not a fan of the first apartment, but liked the arch windows one.

I'd know that Flatiron building anywhere! Don't live in that city anymore but it's a great place to live. So many cool houses.

@@edwardr6067 I’m in the Midwest. Most cities and towns in the Midwest have all similar rent and its extremely cheap to live in the Midwest - except for like Chicago and Minneapolis of course

Can't wait to see a tour of this new place. How cool that you are living in the same place as you did before. Yes....the attic kinda creepy, but we have a feeling you probably made it not so creepy! We are just like you.....we are clean freaks and perfectionists.....we also would have started putting everything away the same night we moved in!!

After the Covid thing is over, I can't wait to move. I'm in France❤️❤️, prices vary. Obviously No-one can afford Paris, but, hey, the weather is rubbish. I'm in the South West and prices are great. We have 2 houses, 1 for holiday rental.(2double rooms, big, and bathroom, open plan lounge and kitchen.) Ours is 4 beds and en-suites, 2 lounges, (1is 25ft high to beams) used to be a barn on this ex farm, big kitchen, utility, study, huge bathroom with free-standing bathroom, 5 acres land with own woods where little deer live and a pool. It has a 16th century well, still working, and lavage, an area where the crinoline were washed, so cool. It cost 345,000 euro. Is this similar price to American dollar, for this type of place? 415,255 dollars, just checked!!!
I'm dying to start house - hunting, but we're under strict lockdown and nightly curfew. Still, hope we get what destiny has meant for us, at the right time

I so admire your pluck and enthusiasm for life and yoyr6 pursuits (van life). I would go with your old apartment. I'm not an artist so the loft/factory apartments don't appeal to me, due to a lack of coziness. The only thing interested in tall ceilings would be birds and bats, lol. I truly enjoy your videos, your spirit and authenticity.
i feel you the coziness! I know with a little of my design touch thou I could make it pretty cozy but it def would be that way at first!

Some flea market throw rugs, a super comfy chair with a lamp, a table and stacks of books all over the room, thin light white sheets pinned to the ceiling and walls, quotes and favourite saying...oooh and twinkle lights!! And maybe even a small writing desk!! 😁 here I go again lol

where do you live the the rent is about 800$ a month? 0_0 the only place i know of is Ohio like Columbus maybe. I wish the rent was less that 1900.00 where I live

actually im sure ohio has rent even cheaper than where I live! But most states in the midwest have rent for under $800. Just depends on what you're looking for. And yes, the attic is a bit hot with summer time but during the cooler months it's perfect for photo shoots!
Do you still live near your parents? I can't imagine moving to a whole different state. That would be a cool topic. Also I love your channel. It's so relaxing and inspiring, definitely a guilty pleasure :)
while I'm building my van I'm around some of my family because they are going to help me build it. About every 3 years I move to a new state so I'm used to it by now. 😊 And I'm so glad you enjoy my videos!

hey! sorry rn I don't want to reveal that info but I will let you know I'm in the midwest. And almost all bigger midwest cities/towns (except like Chicago and Denver) have v similar prices. Hope that helps!

Cool apartments. The only thing I don`t understand is that you kept looking and mentioning big spaces meanwhile soon you`ll move to a small van. Why you wanted a big apartment for a couple of weeks/ months? I think to get ready to van life you would need a tiny apartment first to see how is it to live in a small space. Question: if you signed the lease for a year what`re you going to do when you move out in 2-3 months (once your van is ready)?
great question! It wasn't so much that I wanted a big space, just that like one of the apts was too small for what I wanted to use it for. So I own a vintage shop online and while Im traveling in my van I need a place to store all my stuff. Instead of keeping in all in storage where it's hard to access I plan to keep kept it in my apt. Then my assistant can easily ship orders while I'm on the road. And also then when I'm not traveling I'll also have a place to stay that isn't my tiny van. Also, I'm building my van all myself so it will probably take anywhere from 4-6 months because it's going to be have all the works! Hope that makes better sense now 😊

Wish u were still in NYC. I have zero luck on apt hunting lol. Any tips? Did you have help from a real estate agent? Any recommendations are greatly appreciate
so I always have good luck finding hidden gems on CL. Apartments.com and FB Marketplace I've also had luck with. If you're looking for a roommate i recommend the roomi app. I didn't use an agent cause that's expensive. It took me weeks of looking EVERYDAY to find this apt. Because as you know the good ones go fast! So I recommend really staying on top of it everyday for a few weeks and you'll find that gem!
