I took the small boat excursion at Hubbard glacier last year off of an NCL ship. Best decision I made for the cruise. Got up close and personal with the glacier. Excellent videos of it calving. Plus when I got back to the ship I found out from other passengers that the ship never even went into the bay, it was raining and foggy so the captain played it safe. It stayed at the mouth of the bay and waited for us. So people on the ship got a long-range glimpse of the glacier but couldn't really see it. It is 7 miles wide, 76 miles long and has a 600 ft face.
Love pea soup. Everytime I watch this series I'm so glad you're going and not me. Your Great pictures does it for me.I grew up in Seattle so Alaska doesn't jazz me nor that cold weather haha.
We liked the crows nest. We also like tea time on Holland. The cake me away is the best. Chairs facing window are never empty like lounge chairs by pools in Caribbean cruises.
Good morning. Dee you always get the most beautiful pictures. It's been a hot minute since I've been to Alaska. Need to make plans for a return trip. Totally enjoy tea when they offer it. Whale's and rainbows, Perfect! ❤ Thank you for taking us along.
Thank you for sharing! We will be on the Noordam about 1 year from now. Signed up for the excursion that takes you closer to Hubbard Glacier. Can not wait to visit!
I am loving these videos from Alaska! And I’m thankful that you’ve kept them coming without making us wait too long, which is probably a lot of work for you to edit and post right away. I’ve been to Alaska and it’s always been my favorite cruise. And next year I’m going again with my son and daughter-in-law, and we are all excited! Looking forward to seeing the next video 😊 thank you
You are right. it doesn't do it justice unless you're there! Because of your Radiance of the Seas vlog we decided to go to Alaska on the Radiance last year. Thank you! Memories galore!
When we were at Hubbard Glacier (also on Westerdam) two years ago, we were able to get much closer to the glacier wall. It’s deceiving how tall it really is. It was taller than the ship!
Google was basically correct. Your eyes can see that far with clear skies. It also helps that the mountain is 18,000 feet tall. I have seen Denali from Anchorage when conditions were right.
How close did you get to Hubbard as if I remember I was on the same b2b as you in May 2022 on Radiance and we got 6 miles away from it the first time and due to the lovely weather there was too much ice the second visit a couple of days later. It looks like you got a lot closer on this visit!!
We always forget the exact model number, but we put it in the video description for the tech-curious, ha ha. It's a small Canon Powershot point-and-shoot with 40x zoom that has served us well over the years!! :D
Love your videos , especially the commentary. I am planning an Alaskan cruise for May 2025, for our 45th anniversary. When were you guys there in this video?
Thankee! We put the date in the upper left corner of every single video, as well as in the video description, for the curious, but we’re currently still on this cruise!! :D
It's such a beautiful glacier day, perfect viewing weather, and your video looks incredible.
Great photos Dee!!!
Will be on the Koningsdam this September visiting from Australia 🇦🇺🦘🐨 so excited to visit Alaska
the "shut the box" game is very popular with the Dutch folks.
I am loving these. I have to say I've been on several Alaskan trips and I've yet to ever hear anybody use the word CALving.
When we were there 24 years ago the naturalist said that was the best cabin she had ever seen! That glacier is just unbelievable inside.
This is so amazing! Love love love your amazing info narrative 😁

LOL If I have to dress warm to go to Alaska I'm not going..... 😂. I hate the cold no amount of glaciers would change that..

Jay cruised all the way to Alaska to stand in a soup-line. 😆
