I get married in 6 days! And I just want to let you know that you have helped me so much with the planning process, learning how to plan a wedding, answering questions, etc! Couldn’t have done it without you and your videos!! ♥️
I’ve been married for 2 years this June but I will continue to watch every video and listen to every podcast episode because you are the absolute best!
We hired a co-ordinator for a 2hr zoom call about 4 weeks before and I went through everything with her. It was less than £100. And it helped me make sure I hadn't missed anything. We did digital invites and only printed them for the boomers ( at a local uni print shop), we paid for a website instead and it was better. I did my own makeup and nails, no fresh flowers, way less than 10 grand.
The MOST beautiful wedding I ever attended was done for 5 K- family member had house on Chesapeake bay, the sister was a florist, the family COOKED everything, they made their own favors etc. I remember my aunt’s getting married in the 80’s and it was truly friends and family ALL DIY’ing everything and that was the experience and excitement-all that bonding with your girls-and I personally think that some of those white prom dresses are sooo much more beautiful than the big tacky dresses!!
The 10% rule is golden! I have been following your advice but decided to lower my miscellaneous budget to less than 10% and 3 months out and I am totally regretting it lol 🥴 Those little things at the end really add up!
For my backyard elopement, we had my husband's best friend do our photos. He's an amateur hobbyist with a decent camera, but got BEAUTIFUL shots, didn't ask for a dime. (None of the photos were edited mind you) I know not everyone's best friend wants to be a photographer in their free time, but contacting a local school with students studying photography might be a good compromise. I'm sure there's students who would love to work within your budget and get a chance to practice and fill their portfolio. Just make sure they're fed for the night and have time to set up shots, and be very open about what types of photos and poses you're looking for!
I’m getting married in June of 2023 found my venue that I absolutely love! Price? $3720 and that price includes tables, chairs, decor, centerpieces, DJ, bartender, lighting, our own personal thrown chair, my ceremony will be held at a beautiful church in my town for what? wait for it! $1000! And that includes the wedding coordinator! the decor! the sound man! and the officiant! And Day before rehearsal! I think $4720 for all that is pretty good! Lucky for us we have a friend who does photography and he’s only charging us $400! We’re still working out the catering situation because we have a guest list of 190 people but so far my wedding planning is going great! ♥️ my budget is under $10,000 I think I can do it!
Already listened to a few episodes and left a 5 star review in Spotify! I cannot WAIT! I am 16 months out from my wedding and your videos/content have already been SO helpful. Can't wait to have this in my feed as I'm planning!
I’m going to have a small courthouse ceremony and focus most of my budget on food and drinks for friends and family to enjoy a relaxed meal, I don’t want to do any traditional reception activities like dances/speeches/cake cutting ect cause I don’t want to be centre of attention Attire/photography/bouquet/celebrant/documents/cake all/ hair makeup all under $2000 Food/drinks and venue is $4900-$7600 depending which venue I go with for 100 people What I’m not spending money on; Videographer Rsvp (it’ll be digital) Music (provided by venue-dinner music or I can use their speakers) What I might potentially spend money on; Venue decorations $550 (only if I am doing dinner ceremony)
I'm going to do a combination of digital and physical invites. For the younger people we'll send out digital invites to make things easier and faster, and for our older relatives that aren't tech savvy or will just not be satisfied otherwise, we'll mail out physical ones.
I've got a friend who got engaged earlier this month and is getting married mid July. I don't know what the budget is or who's paying (I think it's a pretty tight budget, though), but she found a pretty invitation design and sent invited via Facebook Messenger - some people might think it's tacky (I think it's smart), but sending invites online would save on postage, and if you find a design template that's free, that can save a little more money, so maybe sending invites electronically could be a good option for couples who are on a budget who want a little extra for something else.
I plan on doing this then when they rsvp yes inviting them to a private fb group where I can post any info I think they will need there it is going to be a small wedding less then 45 and I dont care about invites at all lol I refuse to pay anything for them in paper, all my boomer people have facebook and go on at least once a month so theyll be good and no one older then that is alive :/
@@flamesgirlable9903that’s pretty smart!! Also great depending on location would be so easy to add travel considerations, hotels, etc. adding for anyone else who might use this idea! I know I’ve gone to weddings and had a hard time finding parking near by so this could be great for things like that especially for people coming from out of town.
Thank you! My fiance and I are using this as our guidelines for our tiny wedding budget, giving us peace of mind and control over our budget. You are wonderful!!
Im in the UK, planning my wedding for next May- our budget is 9k and our venue is literally £3,900 - so a BIG chunk of it is just the venue, but I couldnt be happier, it is so beautiful and I have no regrets. And we've somehow managed to still hire a brilliant photographer and caterer for a good price with room to spare. It helps that I didn't need to pay for a dress!
Venues are SO expensive in the UK! We are getting married in London in April and the actual ceremony is £3500. Westminster registrar hire was nearly £1000. We're having the after party in my parents' garden.
@GemM-vc4qr budget was £15,000 but we ended up spending more around the £17,000 mark 😬 Ceremony venue: Fitzrovia Chapel. £3,500 Private dining at Fortnum & Mason crypt afterwards for 9 people: £1,200 One night at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel: £490 We hired a coordinator for the party because it was fairly last minute by British standards- we got engaged in November, started planning December, then married mid April. She was fantastic but cost about £2,500. Then garden party costs were DJ, marquee and picnic table hire, cake, teppanyaki catering for about 55 people, loads of booze, grazing table with cheeses etc, decorations, and fireworks. Other costs were things like transport. Platinum wedding rings were about £2,300. We went to Cartier in Selfridges to have a really lovely experience, because the price was the same as the high street for the same quality metal. My mum made my dress and I made my veil from fabric I bought in Japan- so in terms of material it was only about £160! Accessories, undies etc came to about another £250. Hair and make up for ceremony was expensive as my original booking fell through. That was about another £300. My husband rented a tux from a shop in Chelsea and that was about £100. Really good deal. I had a kimono and Japanese hair done for the garden party and that was another £300. We had two photographers, a pro for the ceremony and after dinner shots in London; and then mates rates from a pro friend at the garden party. Combined cost of that was about £1000. All in all, considering what we got for the price and the experience, I do think it was worth it. When I was looking at prices before we got officially got engaged, I was really shocked. Initially we wanted to get married in the Barbican conservatory but the packages started at £16k and it just seemed so restrictive. For that price guests got half a bottle of wine, 3 canapés, and a very strict 3 course meal. Having a party with a spread that people could return to made sense. I didn't want anyone feeling underfed or restricted with drink, haha!
This is an incredible video that I wish I had when I started planning! Started at 12k budget and actual is going to be around 14k. Less than a month to go!
Other tips: if you're looking at wedding venues, look at times other than the weekend. We just booked a great venue for the cost of $2602 because we're doing it the Tuesday after Labor Day. We feel that we're giving people enough notice that they can take off work, and it'll be a nice extended weekend because it's after Labor Day. And they understand that we're trying to save money and this is a way to do that. Another perk of the place we picked is they actually provide day of coordination for free which is huge, means we won't need to hire a coordinator at all. And just know that if you feel dejected because all the venues are expensive, know there are cheaper options out there. Just keep looking and don't give up until you find one that meets your budget! Also in terms of officiant: you can have one of your friends get licensed to do it and have them do it for you. You'll save money, plus it's a more personalized, fun option than using a traditional officiant (especially if you're not religious).
I'm putting the venue money on rentals, for a drape tent in the church parking lot, and renting prettier chairs. Got a champagne fountain for mimosa bar, and doing a champagne tower, serving brunch or pizza or chicken parmigiana (depending what time of day) and a pretzel bar, Sicilian baker for desserts, Walmart two tier cake $60. Priest said champagne or wine is fine, but will run it by once more, if not I still have my family's back yard, fiance residence recreation center (a hundred bucks for the day) or we have rental halls that are pretty decent, but my least favorite option.
I’ve looked into sooo many options! I really hate planning 😩 I’m down to a brunch wedding all inclusive for 5,300 & I need to worry about dj, photography, plus our attire/hair/makeup.
Okay, but can I have a beautiful wedding for 10-15k if I also despise the boho aesthetic (burlap, mason jars, twine, "shabby chic", reclaimed wood) and want an elegant vibe?
Just went and left a 5-star review on your podcast!! Your content is so amazing. Thank you for providing this information and showing that it is possible to have your dream wedding without spending a fortune. You do great work and I will always support your channel :)
We are most surprised at all of the extra fees for payments - 3% credit card fee could have easily added an extra $300 if we didn’t catch that in the contract ($25 wire transfer fee is still pretty steep but way better than $300!)
My wedding is in October of this year and we have everything planned, set, and are now just paying it all off. We got the venue we wanted that included the DJ, tables, linens, day of coordinator and that was a huge cost saver. Thrifted decor, planned a dessert table instead of a three tier cake, flowers are fake so we can keep them forever, catering is pizza bc it’s our favorite food and invites were bought on sale. Photographer is a professional but also our friend so she discounted us. All we had to do was skim our guest list down to 80 people and we’re having a dream wedding for 10.5k🖤
We got our invites off of Amazon custom. We’re doing mostly/all fake flowers. A family friend is the DJ 500$ another friend is the caterer 700$ the venue is my brothers back yard free$ the tents, tables, draping rentals 400$ ish. Then we’re getting disposable plates, cups, napkins etc. from Amazon and we’re DIYing our own dessert table. Everything will be about $4k in total. And no coordinator day of but we could if we wanted thanks to saving everywhere else. We had a $6k budget!
just got married using all of your videos! I actually found a venue that cost more but included all the rentals, decor, speakers, and reallocated my budget there and helped make things easier. Also used DJ griffs document and it helped me so so much-thank you! I would recommend getting a coordinator because day off all of the toilets overflowed right before our ceremony- and I didn’t even know until the issue was taken care of and she fought for us when working with the venue- best money I spent out of our whole budget! I had friend do my florals at cost, knew a baker who did our cake, and bought a sample dress. Even though it took a lot of work leading up to it, I couldn’t have wanted anything more! Thank you Jamie!
Checked out a few episodes of your podcast and will definitely be following along during my wedding planning journey. We're 18 months out from our big day! Love the content. It's been so helpful
Just left my 5 star review. Thanks for being a glutton for punishment and helping us get the details we need to not stress so much for this big day. Thanks and hope to be one of the first reviewers!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
I would look into schools, get my hair and makeup at a local beauty college. Food and cake/ dessert maybe this could count for hours or an exam. Same with floral, decorating....
in Portugal most wedding venues include food, drinks, tables, chairs and linens and some even decorations.. our venue includes all of this for 75€ per person (basic menu).. so it's really weird for me to realize that in the USA you have to get everything separate, that must be stressful
Love your content! Not sure if I missed it, how do you handle dinnerware, etc... when using a non traditional wedding venue? So far quotes are at about 1k for these items. 😬
I'm 5 months away from our wedding and this was very helpful at reassuring me that I'm on the right track. Managing our family's expectations of what a wedding should be like is harder than staying on budget and true to our vision lol
Hi there, for makeup you can make an apt at MAC or Sephora. They will do a full face, but you must spend $50 on their products the same day. They are professionals.
Just want to add here, I’ve had this done. However, they use the sample products from the floor. This isn’t sanitary, I got an infection when I had it done there. They clean the brushes they use but use the same bottles. I’m not sure if this policy has changed since 2020, but just a disclaimer to anyone worried about that or someone has has sensitive skin or allergies.
I’m so excited for your podcast and this vid 😭 about to jump into wedding planning-eek. (If things go as planned). Will definitely come back to this video soon
I got my DJ for $400 for 4 hours. It was a new company who had some limited experience but came recommended by a friend. They did way better than a friend would have done running a playlist.
I looked at a venue on a Friday and Saturday night $1000 more to use it on a Saturday. Only reason we’ve decided to To a backyard wedding is the rental time. Both our families like to party till really late at night
Wedding invites!!!! money saver!!!! Create a website through a wedding planning site totally free and you can send it out to your guests. They can keep up to date with events and rsvp accommodations and no need to be spending 300-500 on stationery.
Super happy for the podcast, unfortunately I don't have apple so I'm unable to leave the 5 stars but I gave them to you in my heart lol thanks for making such amazing content for this stressed out budget Bride 💙
@@JamieWolfer listening on Google podcasts but, can't figure out how to rate it. My wedding is in 3 weeks and our ceremony/ reception are in the same location. so the space is required to be flipped. My venue is more of an airbnb space, so there won't be any staff to set up tables, chairs, linen, and decor. I asked my bridal party and groomsmen to help with setting those up...they don't really want to. both my Fiance and I don't have big families, so we're relying on our party. That's got me stresses out, because I want everyone to have a good time, and not think about having to set up/breakdown. I've thought of hiring a Coordinator, but since they don't do set up or break down, I see no point. I'm now at the point where I wish we just elope...
I'm so techno challenged so don't know how to leave 5 star review on spotify, although I have subscribed..... love the eco podcast though, it was great. We are being more eco friendly, and some great tips on here now 6 months out from our wedding
I'm really surprised how much people spend on weddings in other countries. In Sweden the average wedding cost is about $6000, and that is including rings. I'm not sure why it's such a difference, but we do like to keep stuff very minimalist and practical. Like doing buffé food, DIY a lot and just focus on the entertainment side (like having games etc) instead of the decorations and "fancy" things.. and we also aren't too social so it's usually around 50 guests or so, which helps :P
I think it depends too. I come from a HUGE family (both on my mom and my dad's side), so it's not uncommon for weddings to have 100+. One thing that does help with the budget though is on my maternal grandpa's side, much of the work is done by the family, so it waylays the cost tremendously because of the connections and discounts that can come with a big family. I have cousins who do all the food because they're ranchers, so they know how to BBQ and most of the time I've had family members do the cakes (one cousin wanted cupcakes hehe). I've lost count on how many weddings I've helped out in. So yeah, that part of the family is very low maintenance, the only thing we don't cut corners on is the photography.
Almost all of our guests are coming from out of state. How do I make a $10k wedding worth the travel expense? I don't think Chick-fil-a in a public park will suffice. ☺
The guests aren't coming for the food, they came to watch you get married. Making sure your guests are fed through the event is just part of hosting an event, even if it's chik fil a :)
Some of these prices just aren't doable for California brides in 2022. I'm having mine at a county owned park and the rental was 3k because we have to come in the morning to set up the venue (more hours were added). Also these places require you to use their bartender services which is much higher than a 10k budget. I think 10k budget was doable a few years ago when you got married but in 2022 not very possible. I have no florist, no wedding planner, no videographer, no makeup/hair team, no catering company, been buying everything used & DIY everything, using wood flowers & using a restaurant to deliver food, only renting chairs & tables, using plastic plates/utensils. I've tried my hardest to stay at 10k but with 150 people it wasn't possible in that small budget so it more likely now 16-17k 🤦♀️
I’m so excited to hear you starting a podcast!!! I definitely see myself listening to it on the way to work !!! & the title is amazing it’s so fitting 😂😂💕🫶🏾

Jamie you're a literal angel
Beautiful chika, relatable and hilarious. Thank you!
How many people did you have?
just got married using all of your videos!
Hello Anna, how much did your coordinator cost ?
So I just found you and absolutely all love you already!!! I am attempting to plan a budget friendly wedding in 6 months lol😂
Start at 4:40 if you want to get straight to the details
Not even engaged or anything but I enjoy watching these videos 😂
Same! 😅
love your personality, thanks for the tips!
i live for your joy, its so infectious
OMG! I've been wanting a podcast from you for ages 😍 so excited to listen
This is perfect! My wedding will be under 10k! And yes it’s in June 2023! Love your content!
Mine too!!!!!!
How was the budget? Congratulations!!
Congratulations, were you able to keep your budget under your goal?
I would look into schools, get my hair and makeup at a local beauty college.
Food and cake/ dessert maybe this could count for hours or an exam.
Same with floral, decorating....
So excited to more easily be able to listen to you and your tips! Gladly listened and wrote a review ☺️
Love this video! Thank you so much for this!
Thank you for uploading this! I really wanted to keep my wedding budget under the same price point!
in Portugal most wedding venues include food, drinks, tables, chairs and linens and some even decorations.. our venue includes all of this for 75€ per person (basic menu).. so it's really weird for me to realize that in the USA you have to get everything separate, that must be stressful
As someone from the US, that’s why I’m hoping to maybe get married in Mexico where my bf’s family is
Love your content! Not sure if I missed it, how do you handle dinnerware, etc... when using a non traditional wedding venue? So far quotes are at about 1k for these items. 😬
Thank you so much for giving me better insight. I’m going to keep it small and intimate. You’ve really helped me!! 🙏🏽
Where is the budget TJs and Costco dessert bar link please?
I'm 5 months away from our wedding and this was very helpful at reassuring me that I'm on the right track. Managing our family's expectations of what a wedding should be like is harder than staying on budget and true to our vision lol
Omg I think you just saved my butt lol this is amazing!
Literally the God Sent information I needed!!! Bless you!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😭💙
Where was this video when I needed it!!!
This is a great resource! We live in CA and have a longer day planned but you had some great ideas still!
Rating. Done and done. I adore your tips. You bring such a grounded approach for planning.
I got my DJ for $400 for 4 hours. It was a new company who had some limited experience but came recommended by a friend. They did way better than a friend would have done running a playlist.
Just listened to and reviewed the podcast!!! Loved it!! Also this video is sooo helpful
Great video! Thank you so much for the advice and all the helpful links.
I looked at a venue on a Friday and Saturday night $1000 more to use it on a Saturday. Only reason we’ve decided to
To a backyard wedding is the rental time. Both our families like to party till really late at night
Rated! Severely single, but MAN I love your videos 😅💖
Same
@@JamieWolfer listening on Google podcasts but, can't figure out how to rate it. Tried on apple pod cast and wasn't able to rate it on there either, I guess because I wasn't listening in an Apple product. Still, I am loving the new platform. Now I can listen at work and on the go without wanting to watch a screen🙂
Wherever podcasts are petaled!😂🤗
You lost me at beer and wine only 😂
following NOW! love it!!
That's got me stresses out, because I want everyone to have a good time, and not think about having to
set up/breakdown.
I've thought of hiring a Coordinator, but since they don't do set up or break down, I see no point.
I'm now at the point where I wish we just elope...
This was super helpful!
I'm so techno challenged so don't know how to leave 5 star review on spotify, although I have subscribed..... love the eco podcast though, it was great. We are being more eco friendly, and some great tips on here now 6 months out from our wedding
Jamie! Need a video for a wedding under 5k!
So excited you started a podcast!! Woooo!! 🤩💕💫
Love this!
Please make a 10k wedding budget playlist!
Could you please, do a video, on family style catering.
Really fantastic video, Jamie - thank you xx
Thank you for this video, Jamie!
I appreciate your video, but the beginning was too much talking.
Amazing content! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻
Do you have a video of your wedding?
Finally a podcast! 😍👏🏻
In Florida is almost impossible to pay less than 5k for venue 😫😫😫
Video begins at 3:25
Almost all of our guests are coming from out of state. How do I make a $10k wedding worth the travel expense? I don't think Chick-fil-a in a public park will suffice. ☺
Church hall, Italian/Mediterranean drop shipping.
The guests aren't coming for the food, they came to watch you get married. Making sure your guests are fed through the event is just part of hosting an event, even if it's chik fil a :)
So so so helpful thank you 😊
Where do thank you cards fit in? Even if the invited are digital, shouldn't thank you cards be actual paper and stamp?
What about if it’s a backyard wedding?!
Just happily left a 5 star review!! :)))
So far we are at 8k but this would be so hard without help from friends and family!
Let’s just jump right into this after three minutes talking about something else 😂
Doing a $2,000 wedding... Terrified hearing these numbers.
I’m so excited to hear you starting a podcast!!! I definitely see myself listening to it on the way to work !!! & the title is amazing it’s so fitting 😂😂💕🫶🏾
We are doing ours for $3k!!!!
Same! We did it modest and very small though.
You go girl!
