    Cool result, almost finished painting my statue, for the shadows i've been using a method that's a bit hard to control, basically damping the surface, painting a wash/glaze in the areas then removing the edge with a slightly damp sponge to remove the harsh edge. This method requires back and forth with the base color and the shadow to have a nice gradient, the pastels might be better to control then just seal it with a protective varnish.
    Shading with airbrush might be the best way to go about it, so far only been using it for base colors, metallics, varnishes and stuff like that, prefer to do most of the work with the brush.

    • @evolutionxstudios
      @evolutionxstudios  2 года назад +1

      Thanks buddy! Yeah that does indeed sound like a pretty difficult method to control. It can‘t get easier than with pastels. I also prefer that over airbrushing, especially for very small areas

    • @TheIcemanModdeler
      @TheIcemanModdeler 2 года назад

      @@evolutionxstudios Yeah, saw this method before but they were using graphite from a pencil shaved off into small grains like u did in the video and hair spray to seal it.

    I noticed that dry brushing with Vallejo Game Color paints is very difficult, the paint dries super fast and when there is little paint it sticks to the brush, i tend to use paint retarder gel to increase the working time, thinking of getting some Green Stuff World paints to test, only tested one and it felt much smoother and went on great also as dry brush without any retarder.

    • @evolutionxstudios

    what kind of wood filler do you use? i made the mistake wet sanding a model after i used woodfiller and filler primer. The woodfiller absorbed the water and everything just peeled off...

    • @evolutionxstudios
      @evolutionxstudios  7 месяцев назад

      I have had the same with an all purpose filler. The wood filler I use is not from a particular brand you can only get it in basically a 1$ store here. If „plastic wood“ is available for you that should work as well

    Your video lead me to buy this model :) I’ve printed everything except the large cylinder light thing , any tips for fdm to print that ? I have it positioned upright with the closed side at the top which fills the entire model with support

    • @evolutionxstudios
      @evolutionxstudios  2 года назад +1

      Nice! To avoid that I went into Meshmixer and cut away the closed side and printed it seperately. If you don‘t care about having those rings on the closed side you could also print it with the closed side to the build plate. That might could also give you a cool surface structure, depending on your build plate

    • @kosta6137
      @kosta6137 2 года назад

      @@evolutionxstudios thanks for the info ! I thought about flipping it around but not sure how the rings would come out . I didn’t know about something called mesh mixer ! I’ll give that a go . So when I split it , it just makes 2 stls that I can print in cura ? Like they will fit back together, same size and all ? Also should I split it right at the top so it’s like a “coin” , or leave some of the cylinder part with the top ?

    • @evolutionxstudios
      @evolutionxstudios  2 года назад

      @@kosta6137 no problem pal! Should be pretty easy in Meshmixer with a "plane cut". You could also directly do it in your slicer. If the closed side is on top, just drag the cylinder down in the z-direction until only the top part is left to print. And then you turn it around and move the top part out of the build plate in the negative z-direction until only the cylinder is left to print. And then you just super glue the two parts together

    • @evolutionxstudios
      @evolutionxstudios  2 года назад

      @@alnmkecustoms The slicer program will tell you how much resin you need for your print. Just add that up for all the prints you need to finish the figure. If it's a print for a friend I personally would just ask to cover the price for the resin or just do it for free. If you are trying to sell it I would probably start with doubling the price of the resin to also include all the stuff that goes with it (IPA, paper towls, gloves etc.) and then add the hourly wage x the time you need.
