I love Vaganova so much, I’ve always felt that I did my training in the wrong country. Australians love RAD but I lived for the artistry. I just did my first ballet class in 15 years this week, my body remembered it all ❤
Such generosity, Isabella, showing us your exams and critiquing them. No surprise that your intensives sell out as soon as they are available for signing up!
I am currently working on getting back in shape. I am a 53 year old hobby ballet dancer from Germany. After a 5 year break due to family and pandemic reasons I started ballet training again this year. Although the other students in my ballet class are on average 30 years younger than me, I keep up well in class. Especially when it comes to barre work, (single) pirouettes and flexibility. My jumps and balances are still far from what I used to be able to. But it's getting better. Slowly but constantly. And I'm convinced inside that I'll get back to where I was 5 years ago. And even futher. Hopefully my double pirouettes will become better than ever bevor. It would be wonderful to get there over time. But I am full of confidence. It just feels great to be back in class practicing all those steps. My motto: Enjoy it! Be happy and thankful for the opportunity to take ballet classes again. @Isabella: I appreciate your videos very much. They are such gems for hobby dancers and Ballett lovers like me, who never would have the chance to get such deep inside views elswhere.❤
In terms of mindset I’m currently working on showing up to class earlier to have more time for a warmup, to stay after class longer to practice and to generally push myself in class more. In terms of Ballet I’m working on keeping my retire flatter during pirouettes and just generally jumps en pointe ‘cause we’ve only started them recently and I’m still really struggling with them 🫠 I love your videos! I found your channel 3 days ago and I’ve been watching a couple of your videos each night while stretching 😅✨
Hi! Advanced adult here, been loving your videos recently, especially the exams I find very inspiring. After finishing ballet grades in high school I have found it very difficult to feel inspired to go that bit extra to improve in class, but watching your videos has really inspired me. So my mindset at the moment is to try be a dancer who does even just that 10% more than required every class, every stretch etc.
Does platform refer to a website? Or a social media platform? I as well was looking for more class and technique breakdown, and don’t see many of those on the RUclips videos & playlists. Love all the other videos, but yes, would love to watch/do a back to basics class or tutorial of Isabella’s because she is very smart, experienced and articulate

Currently working on my Cecchetti Advanced 1 exam and am really trying to keep the self doubt at bay. I’ve done a LOT of work on myself and have become so much more confident as a person but I still really struggle with feeling confident as a dancer. My exam is in June - wish me luck! PS - Absolutely adored this video. You really stood out. Not just because of your height but you finish all your movements with an artistry that just pulls my eye.
I am focusing to be a more consistent with my work and stretching and exercising to lengthen and sharpen my legs 😊! I am 13 and I have been dancing ballet since I was 2.
I am a concert pianist and a ballet lover. I also studied in Russia , back in the late 70s. Your channel is absolutely wonderful ( I follow a few of them ). Would love to hear what you REALLY think of Tsiskaridze . Thank you ❤
Perhaps I am being rude by responding to your question. As you know Tsiskaridze's contract at the Bolshoi was not renewed (as a dancer or a new contract as the artistic director, which is what he wanted). He was publicly trashing the Bolshoi daily. Huge opposition when he landed at the Vaganova Academy and pushed Altynai Asylmuratova out. Turns out he's doing a great job - at least as far as we see publicly. They love him. He's an amazing choreographer, an encyclopaedia of dance. My heart breaks when he publicly pulls apart his own students by name.
@@normamimosa5991 I didn't know many of these details , thanks. He is certainly an intriguing figure.I kind of stumbled upon him on youtube and listened to almost all of his interviews. He is certainly a very eloquent and erudite person , but he also comes across as slightly arogant and self- important .
@@mackiceicukice Take a look at his boys' exams on YT. He deservedly gets standing ovations - just for an exam! He has huge potential as a choreographer. I agree that he is self-important.
Focus for me, as an adult intermediate dancer, is to really breakdown specifics & have clarity in understanding technique. Even when dancing in a pre-professional program, I felt the instruction lacked clarity and consistency. Returning to ballet, I want to be precise about movement and muscle control. I believe technique, although it takes focus & patience, should feel like a “possible” journey. Not an impossible battle of muscling through improper principles and getting nowhere.
Hi Anna! We just finished our 2 week adult intensive in London - the next is January. To be announced soon! Keep updated by following here, Instagram as well as my website 😍❤️
What I am working on? Healing an injury that has taken a year to get a correct diagnosis. I'll save the healthcare system where I am by not mentioning it. An adductor longus tear. Very painful and very debilitating. Any ideas which ballet moves could be the culprits. Right now impossible to retiré, developé and extend at 90° in second. Was close to 180° before.
Did I hear you right? You're 5"10? I realized I danced 30ish years ago, but when did height acceptance change? I stopped dancing at 14 but had given up going anywhere with it at by years before. I was told not to bother applying at any decent schools because they wouldn't take anyone over 5"7. It crushed me as I am just under 5"11 and stopped growing at 12. I continued to dance and just stopped classical ballet. Anyways I'm babbling, that's just amazing news to me! Thrilled things have changed!
Ooh nice!! 👏👏Maybe you’ve answered this in the past, but I’m wondering if you think the other girls practiced as much as you did? And did you do competitions? Prix etc. Who gets to watch the exam? Thanks for sharing! You look so beautiful.

What Western students have problematic is always the stiff torso and hands and the lack of turnout from the hip. It shows here, it is not their fault.
Your audio is very low
