I was there in 1975, It was a place with a deep heaviness as I spent some time there, I had no ideal of it's past. They still didn't treat people right then, as you would be put in a "time out" room for a couple days. I was living on the third floor in the building to the left, but had school on the building to the right. The floor I was on was for girls, the boys where on the second floor. The mental disabled children where on the third and second floors on the right, behavioral on the left. The beauty of the building was breathtaking for a child of 12, the spiraling staircase was a site to see, and the view from the balconies used to be my favor place to sit, perhaps catch a thunderstorm. When I think back to my time there it was always a thickness in the atmosphere almost like you couldn't breath, but we did take a lot of trips off property at the time. Shadow people? Maybe.... evil, yes, like woven into the concrete of the structure... I would like to return someday for a tour to see if thickness in the air remains and the memories flood me once again...Thanks for making the video

Very late to the party but honestly one of the most underrated comments here. It would be REALLY funny if a more dramatic urbex channel was somehow in there at the same time and got FREAKED because of all the rumors of paranormal, just for it to be the Proper People taking care when sketchy shit happens! I'm still in the "probably a homeless person or a junkie" camp as they would probably know the building well and if this was their primary spot with no other way to secure their stuff, they'd want to spook people into leaving them alone or at least create a barricade to discourage entry like was done here. Even way back when this was posted, I have mad respect for the Proper People being well... proper, and being aware and courteous of others possibly in the building both for their own safety by avoiding conflict and to minimally impact anyone there.
If you guys and gals listen very carefully with a headset, you can hear one of the camera guys heartbeat going faster in certain areas. What a creepy place!

But I'd say that place is haunted for sure the legend said right the doctor haunts the place and you will hear him walking and with a chain...dont know bout the chain part but yeah... pretty cool though
I have always enjoyed your videos. Huge respect for you guys going back up to the 3rd floor to investigate the noise. And even nocking on the door. The one thing I dislike about a lot of paranormal investigative content I've seen. They use thin science to "prove" paranormal activity. I hope you stay as objective as you can. I’ve seen a ton of evidence (science based) to suggest there’s something otherworldly going on, & although I’m a spiritual individual, i don’t believe everything I see & hear like a lot of people. ‘Oh look at an orb!’ No dear.. that’s bloody dust! I need evidence just as much as the next person, as well as ruling everything else out. Have these foundings been peer reviewed in official academic papers and magazines? My guess is "not", because there is simply no evidence for paranormal phenomena, the main reason being that the paranormal by it's own nature cannot be proven by science or else it wouldn't be paranormal (it literally means above nature, above and beyond what can be explained). It's a paradoxon and useless to even try, just how proving that there is a god/gods is doomed to be fruitless, because you can neither prove that something that might not exist exists. nor could you prove their existence even if they were real, because things like deities, spirits and any other faith based entitites are by nature beyond our means (and reach) of explanation. If they weren't, then they would have been natural and non-supernatural phenomena all along - science wasn't yet quite there to collect the empirical data necessary to proof their existence. But that would counter the argument that they would then be supernatural in the first place... do you see the problem here? And I know I may come off as pedantic, but I am a bit tired of people who come along with their baseless pseudoscience claims to proof what essentially cannot be proven by science, regardless if real or not. And it's not even science's job to concern itself with that kinda stuff. Save for a few charlatans and whack-jobs who throw money out of the window conducting "research" with fake statistics and lousy experiment protocols, the paranormal isn't a big field interest for science and it should stay that way and leave that stuff where it belongs, in the realm of faith and to people who want to believe in that stuff (which is their own personal right, as long as they don't use it to annoy or hurt other people) and leave science out of it.
Basically any "evidence" of paranormal activity has been debunked. And if there would be actual evidence, it would be a huge breakthrough for science, because that could change the entire view of our universe.

Door was ajar because its impossible to barricade yourself from the outside in not the inside out. door crack is for peeping aswell. There was a homeless dude in there praying these ppl would go away. trust me

I absolutely love this, your videos just feel more real and I love the raw footage and no "creepy music" a lot of people like to add when exploring paranormal places. People are complaining about "oh no now they're gonna be doing ghost stuff and do it for click bait!!1!1" if you really like the content that they put out and you know they don't ever fake things in videos, doesn't mean they're gonna do it now or ever. Stop complaining and just support them.

@@user-us6vg Doesn't matter if it looks like there is. In many buildings of that type. Large old sanitariums and such. There often is still security. Both for trespassing issues and for safety and liability issues. I've been in buildings myself that have had surprising amounts of security that most people wouldn't think there would ever be security around. it wasn't fancy high tech security either. it was old fashioned men with flashlights that physically walked the property quite regularly. One of them even had an area literally caged off to try to keep people out that was physically damaged and in danger of collapsing on it's own let alone with the weight of people in it.

content creators explore new things just like exploring new buildings, its just apart of growing, i doubt they will change everything to be about ghosts and spooky stuff, to be honest if you go back through their videos a lot of them have a night time spooky feel to them
The "logical approach" does not mean you've not captured something. Grow in the direction you need to. Folks will watch who want to watch. Your choices and direction, and need to open your mind should be your own.
if anything these guys are the most anti paranormal you can get. most youtubers would of claimed those sounds to be paranormal but upon inspection it was just a homeless person. i bet you 99% (if not 100%) paranormal activity could be investigated further and debunked but finding a "ghost" get more views
Someone is growing psychedelic mushrooms in that room. They need a damp, dark place. This would explain both the *giant orange mushroom next to the door* they didn't notice and also all of the directions someone has spraypainted for themselves to navigate the building while tripping super hard. The boards were placed in front of that room while they were running downstairs so the shroomers could tell if their secret was discovered. I bet they were being watched the whole time by someone who knows the building well enough to pick and choose when to scare them, then move the boards and GTFO via another exit.
That asylum is far too dirty and dusty to grow shrooms. They would end up cross-contaminated during the germination period and wouldn't fruit. Trust me shrooms are hella sensitive and require sterile growing conditions even though they are a fungus. Even growing them in your house takes effort so the air is not contaminating the grow.
tubs are okay but still have to be very sterile and this type of environment would cross contaminate during the germination period. They would have to inject the spores in a sterile environment and then bring the tub to this sanitarium. Its a lot of effort for something so silly. Also shroomeries are crazy. I've been in many (and trap houses) and the shroomeries are almost like labs they are so sterile. Similar to good grow houses. You can obviously cultivate in your home, just tub and black bin liner over the top and put inside an airing cupboard in the dark and with the heat but again your house has to be super sterile. Shrooms are delicate as hell when releasing spores. Even the needle being slightly unsterile on the syringe can cause the growth to fail. I learned that the hard way during cultivation as I was naive that fungus would be easy as hell to grow, I was so wrong but learned a lot from failures.
The “communal shower room” was actually a hydrotherapy room that would have been filled with covered bathtubs as well that were heated really hot for people to sit in and the shower would be turned on really hot and with super high pressure
Kinda reminds me of this abandoned hotel I stayed overnight in while traveling in Greece. Every room I could go into (front desk even had the room keys, still), beds were all made, water still ran.. And one room at the top floor was covered in boards and the glass window in the door was plastered over with paper from the inside. It was locked, and no key at the front. I slept on the bottom floor on the opposite end of the building. Got weird vibes from that one.

The story behind this place (I'm local I've wanted to explore for years) it was an insane asylum (obviously) they used to treat children with autism, mental disorders like schizophrenia, ptsd, anxiety, all types of things. Dr Joseph dejarnette not only used them as guinea pigs but some say he was sexually active with some of the patients. He put his life work into the asylum and eventually one day he passed, some say he killed himself out of guilt. Others claim he was killed for his wrong doings. Or he naturally passed. It's not entirely known to my knowledge what really happened but he was a horrible man. He drugged children who didn't need medication and many MANY children died their, don't forget about it. It is one of the most haunted Locations in the state. He the place was shut down due to Asbestos and black mold. You shouldn't go in without some sort of mask.
@@war32mec it was dark and pretty hard to breathe the lower you went into the building. I heard someone cough personally and we went through every room and saw no one. We saw a little classroom area and medical rooms but everything was cleaned out. We found an old medical document for a patient but I cant remember the date on it. There was only one actual bed in the whole facility still in tact and someone had put pentagrams on the floor. And I gaint ouija board. We went upstairs to the very top of it and the door slammed shut and we had been locked in for a short period of time. I got it open and then we just continued. Each stair case leads to a different part of the building. But I have pictures and videos from it. The most upsetting part in my personal opinion was seeing the showers 😔 there was only one that we saw and that was in the basement..but atleast 60 rooms..
@@war32mec I had a really strong sense of Paranoia as well. I kept feeling like someone was behind me and I heard whispering at one point but I just overall felt a really overwhelming sadness and anger.
I love it how both of you run after hearing the footsteps (I can’t blame you), BUT then one of you said something like ‘wait we have to go back this is not the point of the show we are trying to start’ & unlike some of those really dumb shows on TV, you actually went back! That's like.. as a child when you wake up in the middle of the night and hear a sound coming from your open closet, but you're so scared and you don't want to open it more... and so you'll just be laying there staring at the closet till you eventually get enough courage to go and check it out, but then it ended up not being anything. there is a mix of heart beats and stomach noises throughout the video, these guys have amazing mics on their cameras, you guys are trippin lol (but around the mid 17 minute mark it is sketchy)
If you consider how many people have died there, the odds in favor of haunting are indesputedly overwhelming. If I ever encountered a ghost in a mental hospital, I would tell them, "It's medication time."
No props, no build up music, nothing extra. Just pure and raw footage. Love it. However, keep to the exploration stuff and please don't wander into the paranormal department. I feel like you would ruin the whole purpose of this channel. However, if the overwhelming opinion is the opposite of mine, look into getting a FLIR camera if you haven't already.

Especially at night time when our senses are allert we could very well shoot at the first sign of a noise and in that case I suggest it's better to not do these kind of expeditions at night

This is in my town. My boyfriend and I just here recently started watching your videos. We kept saying y'all should explore this place then just so happened to scroll across this today. They do haunted tours on the grounds but do not do anything inside due to the condition of the building. But glad to see y'all have been there!

Excited to watch this, I was in college at Mary Baldwin and people would always go up there to get a scare. What a terrible past this place had. I definitely felt awful vibes there.

Look at your like to dislike ratio before throwing yourselves too much into the comment section. People will always be disgruntled around anything paranormal due to so many individuals on RUclips & shows just taking advantage of it wherever they can. I would definitely say keep this segment, maybe do it every so often (which I suspect you’re doing) to keep a good mix of your usual videos as well as this style. I enjoy both. My only suggestion, like many, is to not fabricate anything; which I know you boys wouldn’t do anyway, to be open minded (really important), & maybe even invest in just a little voice recorder to see if you pick up on any EVP’s. They’re relatively cheap these days, & you can add it to your equipment. The thing is with the unexplained / paranormal, we often can’t always hear what they wish to convey with our naked ears due to the energy it takes them to muster up. That’s why voice recorders can pick up on sounds, they often use them as a way of communication. If you ever hear anything suspicious, turn it on, & see what happens. Just a thought! You don’t even need to add it if you don’t hear anything. Great video as always guys :) x

I’m a local and used to live down the road from here. As a little kid in the 1950’s went caroling at Christmas there. It was beautiful back then. The lobby was huge with pianos and lots of couches for patients to hang out. The patients seemed happy and well taken care of. I loved the place. Much later in my life after it was abandoned but before the windows were all boarded up, I went there to explore. The place was still beautiful and the front door was ajar. Just as I was going inside, I spotted multiple huge snake skins and that was enough to stop me from going in. I always regretted not going in and then it got boarded up. I had a great aunt who was an involuntary guest there for many years. BTW guys, the doc’s name is pronounced “Duh JAR net”. Good times lol

It's for legal issues I think, if they would get caught by security or the police unarmed it's just trespassing, but trespassing while armed is felony.

A door became blocked while they were not in the same area, and whispers that could be humans living and breathing, both items could only be paranormal if they were totally un-explainable, but they didnt actually go through the door so you dont know if there were humans behind it, and whispers do not a ghost make, i wouldnt consider paranormal either, now if a door slammed behind me when i knew there was not a person around, different story.

Very late to the party but honestly one of the most underrated comments here. It would be REALLY funny if a more dramatic urbex channel was somehow in there at the same time and got FREAKED because of all the rumors of paranormal, just for it to be the Proper People taking care when sketchy shit happens!
I'm still in the "probably a homeless person or a junkie" camp as they would probably know the building well and if this was their primary spot with no other way to secure their stuff, they'd want to spook people into leaving them alone or at least create a barricade to discourage entry like was done here.
Even way back when this was posted, I have mad respect for the Proper People being well... proper, and being aware and courteous of others possibly in the building both for their own safety by avoiding conflict and to minimally impact anyone there.
If you guys and gals listen very carefully with a headset, you can hear one of the camera guys heartbeat going faster in certain areas. What a creepy place!

I’ve seen a ton of evidence (science based) to suggest there’s something otherworldly going on, & although I’m a spiritual individual, i don’t believe everything I see & hear like a lot of people. ‘Oh look at an orb!’ No dear.. that’s bloody dust! My guess is "not", because there is simply no evidence for paranormal phenomena, the main reason being that the paranormal by it's own nature cannot be proven by science or else it wouldn't be paranormal (it literally means above nature, above and beyond what can be explained). It's a paradoxon and useless to even try, just how proving that there is a god/gods is doomed to be fruitless, because you can neither prove that something that might not exist exists. nor could you prove their existence even if they were real, because things like deities, spirits and any other faith based entitites are by nature beyond our means (and reach) of explanation. If they weren't, then they would have been natural and non-supernatural phenomena all along - science wasn't yet quite there to collect the empirical data necessary to proof their existence. But that would counter the argument that they would then be supernatural in the first place... do you see the problem here?
And I know I may come off as pedantic, but I am a bit tired of people who come along with their baseless pseudoscience claims to proof what essentially cannot be proven by science, regardless if real or not. And it's not even science's job to concern itself with that kinda stuff. Save for a few charlatans and whack-jobs who throw money out of the window conducting "research" with fake statistics and lousy experiment protocols, the paranormal isn't a big field interest for science and it should stay that way and leave that stuff where it belongs, in the realm of faith and to people who want to believe in that stuff (which is their own personal right, as long as they don't use it to annoy or hurt other people) and leave science out of it.
Basically any "evidence" of paranormal activity has been debunked. And if there would be actual evidence, it would be a huge breakthrough for science, because that could change the entire view of our universe.

@@user-us6vg Doesn't matter if it looks like there is. In many buildings of that type. Large old sanitariums and such. There often is still security. Both for trespassing issues and for safety and liability issues. I've been in buildings myself that have had surprising amounts of security that most people wouldn't think there would ever be security around. it wasn't fancy high tech security either. it was old fashioned men with flashlights that physically walked the property quite regularly. One of them even had an area literally caged off to try to keep people out that was physically damaged and in danger of collapsing on it's own let alone with the weight of people in it.

Someone is growing psychedelic mushrooms in that room. They need a damp, dark place. This would explain both the *giant orange mushroom next to the door* they didn't notice and also all of the directions someone has spraypainted for themselves to navigate the building while tripping super hard. The boards were placed in front of that room while they were running downstairs so the shroomers could tell if their secret was discovered. I bet they were being watched the whole time by someone who knows the building well enough to pick and choose when to scare them, then move the boards and GTFO via another exit.

That asylum is far too dirty and dusty to grow shrooms. They would end up cross-contaminated during the germination period and wouldn't fruit. Trust me shrooms are hella sensitive and require sterile growing conditions even though they are a fungus. Even growing them in your house takes effort so the air is not contaminating the grow.
Tub method my friend. You can get some damn big rubbermaid containers these days.
tubs are okay but still have to be very sterile and this type of environment would cross contaminate during the germination period. They would have to inject the spores in a sterile environment and then bring the tub to this sanitarium. Its a lot of effort for something so silly. Also shroomeries are crazy. I've been in many (and trap houses) and the shroomeries are almost like labs they are so sterile. Similar to good grow houses. You can obviously cultivate in your home, just tub and black bin liner over the top and put inside an airing cupboard in the dark and with the heat but again your house has to be super sterile. Shrooms are delicate as hell when releasing spores. Even the needle being slightly unsterile on the syringe can cause the growth to fail. I learned that the hard way during cultivation as I was naive that fungus would be easy as hell to grow, I was so wrong but learned a lot from failures.

The “communal shower room” was actually a hydrotherapy room that would have been filled with covered bathtubs as well that were heated really hot for people to sit in and the shower would be turned on really hot and with super high pressure

Kinda reminds me of this abandoned hotel I stayed overnight in while traveling in Greece. Every room I could go into (front desk even had the room keys, still), beds were all made, water still ran.. And one room at the top floor was covered in boards and the glass window in the door was plastered over with paper from the inside. It was locked, and no key at the front. I slept on the bottom floor on the opposite end of the building. Got weird vibes from that one.

The story behind this place (I'm local I've wanted to explore for years) it was an insane asylum (obviously) they used to treat children with autism, mental disorders like schizophrenia, ptsd, anxiety, all types of things. Dr Joseph dejarnette not only used them as guinea pigs but some say he was sexually active with some of the patients. He put his life work into the asylum and eventually one day he passed, some say he killed himself out of guilt. Others claim he was killed for his wrong doings. Or he naturally passed. It's not entirely known to my knowledge what really happened but he was a horrible man. He drugged children who didn't need medication and many MANY children died their, don't forget about it. It is one of the most haunted Locations in the state. He the place was shut down due to Asbestos and black mold. You shouldn't go in without some sort of mask.

@@war32mec it was dark and pretty hard to breathe the lower you went into the building. I heard someone cough personally and we went through every room and saw no one. We saw a little classroom area and medical rooms but everything was cleaned out. We found an old medical document for a patient but I cant remember the date on it. There was only one actual bed in the whole facility still in tact and someone had put pentagrams on the floor. And I gaint ouija board. We went upstairs to the very top of it and the door slammed shut and we had been locked in for a short period of time. I got it open and then we just continued. Each stair case leads to a different part of the building. But I have pictures and videos from it. The most upsetting part in my personal opinion was seeing the showers 😔 there was only one that we saw and that was in the basement..but atleast 60 rooms..
@@war32mec I had a really strong sense of Paranoia as well. I kept feeling like someone was behind me and I heard whispering at one point but I just overall felt a really overwhelming sadness and anger.

@@charlesholmes1598 Taking a gun is indeed safer but it also poses a real risk of Injuring or possibly killing an innocent person. Especially at night time when our senses are allert we could very well shoot at the first sign of a noise and in that case I suggest it's better to not do these kind of expeditions at night

Deep down that's the only reason this kind of exploration exists, it's not like exploring an old castle or archeological site, these places have no real beauty or worth to them apart from being very atmospheric and creepy

This is in my town. My boyfriend and I just here recently started watching your videos. We kept saying y'all should explore this place then just so happened to scroll across this today. They do haunted tours on the grounds but do not do anything inside due to the condition of the building. But glad to see y'all have been there!

Look at your like to dislike ratio before throwing yourselves too much into the comment section. People will always be disgruntled around anything paranormal due to so many individuals on RUclips & shows just taking advantage of it wherever they can.
I would definitely say keep this segment, maybe do it every so often (which I suspect you’re doing) to keep a good mix of your usual videos as well as this style. I enjoy both. My only suggestion, like many, is to not fabricate anything; which I know you boys wouldn’t do anyway, to be open minded (really important), & maybe even invest in just a little voice recorder to see if you pick up on any EVP’s. They’re relatively cheap these days, & you can add it to your equipment.
The thing is with the unexplained / paranormal, we often can’t always hear what they wish to convey with our naked ears due to the energy it takes them to muster up. That’s why voice recorders can pick up on sounds, they often use them as a way of communication. If you ever hear anything suspicious, turn it on, & see what happens. Just a thought! You don’t even need to add it if you don’t hear anything.

in my opinion i would much rather watch a show that just shows how everything went WITHOUT creative editing and manufactured drama.. this was a good start because you didn't hear a little noise and then run around screaming GHOST!... Like on every other show

I’m a local and used to live down the road from here. As a little kid in the 1950’s went caroling at Christmas there. It was beautiful back then. The lobby was huge with pianos and lots of couches for patients to hang out. The patients seemed happy and well taken care of. I loved the place. Much later in my life after it was abandoned but before the windows were all boarded up, I went there to explore. The place was still beautiful and the front door was ajar. Just as I was going inside, I spotted multiple huge snake skins and that was enough to stop me from going in. I always regretted not going in and then it got boarded up. I had a great aunt who was an involuntary guest there for many years. BTW guys, the doc’s name is pronounced “Duh JAR net”. Good times lol

A door became blocked while they were not in the same area, and whispers that could be humans living and breathing, both items could only be paranormal if they were totally un-explainable, but they didnt actually go through the door so you dont know if there were humans behind it, and whispers do not a ghost make, i wouldnt consider paranormal either, now if a door slammed behind me when i knew there was not a person around, different story.
