I bought a pair for hiking/mountaineering recently (on sale @40% off btw) and love them. I’m slim so they fit great. Not having a full length zipper gives better mobility in the knee. I also like the knee pads, not for kneeling protection but because they keep your knees much warmer in driving rain. I was sceptical at the lack of gaiters initially but they’ve been ok. If it’s snowy I wear softshell bibs underneath which have their own gaiters.

Hey great comments. I think these pants do have a user case and since you are slim and the fit sounds good, I am sure that works better. The quality of materials is really good for most Arcteryx products so I always hope it will work for me. Glad it worked out well for you. Have fun on the slopes!

Nice review! Give Helly Hansen Sogn Bib shell pants or HH Odin infinity mountain shell bib pants a try. Hits all the marks you ask for

Great review Robert, question, Where did you get the suspenders? Did it come along with the pants?

      @robertesell  2 года назад

Yes the suspenders come with the pants. I think they also have a model without suspenders.

    I dont understand this review.
You say you did alot of research, and at the same time you are shocked at how bad the pants performs as a purely alpine skiing-pant, which you point out it is not made for.
Also you state that you are shocked that they dont fit over a heavy boot and that the bib is kinda short. All this information is in all review and even on Arc`s website.
And yes, you bought the pants too small.
If you were to go cross-country skiing in alpine conditions and bought a large, this review would have been vastly different.
Still plenty informative and you explaing most things in a calm and professional manner!

Outdoor outfitters/company’s most of the time have a bottom line and they sacrifice most of the time in product to the consumer to be more profitable
I got the OR FORAY GORTEX 1st gen
Mesh pockets clip for harness and two way zipper on left pocket to stuff jack it in
Outdoor research foray gortex 2nd gen
Clip for harness is now for Keys
No mesh in pockets to dump heat
    And no two way zipper
They didn’t drop the features because it will preform better for the consumer they dropped them because they would have to raise the price substantially to keep the features
Now think about $600 bibs take away features over five years or charge consumers $1000 to keep the features
It all comes down to what people will pay
And for them to still profit massively
