This is fascinating. Thank you. It's remarkable how much hubris we tend to have about what we think we know about the human body. We seem to have a predominately mechanical approach to the body (as though it were a car with inert parts that wear out and break), rather than to truly realize that the body is alive, with a dynamic torrent of biological processes always happening. Change is constant. Homeostasis is anything but static; it is a continual push-pull of active anabolic and catabolic processes.

So grateful to find you! Struggling with some pain and flare ups and getting frustrated with the best way to deal with it. I am very active (pilates, weight lifting and walking) and feel that I have my diet dialed in. Going to do a deep dive here to see any further changes I can make. Cheers!

Stephanie Seneff is constantly saying that glyphosate is causing collagen to break down. It’s discussed in her amazing book, “Toxic Legacy.”

Dr. Luks, you stress fiber in the diet being important for gut, so how did/do people on carnivore diets manage without any fiber??

    • @HowardLuksMD
      @HowardLuksMD Год назад

"manage" is the key phrase. the short-chain fatty acids created by our microbiome after they consume soluble fiber have a host of beneficial interactions in the body. The absence of fiber will have downstream consequences. Obviously, they can "manage" to exist without fiber... but to what end? What future consequences? We don't know.

@@HowardLuksMD Methinks there should be an RDA for fiber. Both soluble and insoluble.

Individuals who have been Carnivore for many many years is a 'Black Swan' for the 'fiber is essential' hypothesis.
How you respond to this verifiable observation will reveal what kind of critical thinker you are...
Are you stuck with a (faulty) group consensus appealing to authority or are you open minded to observations that challenge an existing consensus...
BTW - it doesn't really bother me personally which you choose to be

    Metabolic drift out of ease,
    like any positive feedback
loop. Something or someone touching on the
    pulse of autonomic failure
to return to the state of our
ease and the beauty of one's
    evolutionary negitive
    metabolic feedback loop..
    other words (thank you.
    You're making a difference"
