I'm a 72 year old woman who's been to hundreds of concerts starting in the 60's. Lots of legends. Jeff Lynne's ELO is the absolute best concert I've been to. Little Caesar's arena is an amazing venue. Sound was amazing, vocals up there, musically fantastic, a visual spectacle. Perfection. Pristine. Bravo Jeff. You are a genius.
I have grown up listening to the genius that is Jeff Lynne & ELO, Have seen them 4 times here in the UK & not one of their concerts disappointed. Wembley a few years ago was amazing. I am so so lucky & excited to have secured tickets for their Manchester concert in 2025. Will be the end of an era once the band stop, but we need to remember Jeff's age. Melanie is incredible with her operatic voice. We love you Jeff - best live shows ever
I’m a 75 year old life long fan from the 🇬🇧. I’m booked to see ELO in July next summer, in Birmingham,England. I originate from the same area as Jeff . I just had to see his last show here, near where he was born. Such a talent, Jeff and the whole ELO group, past and present👍. I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR REVIEW!
I was at Detroit too! Came from Stratford, Ontario to see them. I’ve been to tons of concerts too and this is right up there as one of the absolute best. Thanks Jeff for all that great music and for giving us the chance to see you again. AND for playing all those hits. A PERFECT night!!
I really enjoyed your summary. I was at MSG up in the rafters and to be honest, not a bad perspective to step back and see the crowd along with the band. They sounded great and the projected light show amazing. It’s honestly probably worth the thousands to be down in front though!
I just bought tickets for his "Final" show in London ....July 13, 3025 in Hyde Park... they went on pre-sale on the 24th and regular sale on the 25th... I missed their concert where I live
Saw ELO in Chicago United Center, unbelievable concert. I have probably seen over 200 concerts and this one was right up at top. Keep on Truckin JeffLynne, fabulous!!!
Back in the mid 70’s, two good friends and I were big Deep Purple fans. So we get 5th row tickets at Cobo to see Purple. There was this warmup band called ELO which we didn’t know much about. ELO simply blew us away and we have been great ELO and Jeff Lynne fans ever since. Thanks for your video.
They have two concerts in Birmingham Jeff's hometown on the 5 th 6 th of July Manchester 9 th 10 th July and Hyde park London on the 13 th July next year hope you get to see them again all the best
I’m 66 but I never was a fan of ELO….. until I started listening to them about 15 years ago. And then I became an instant fan. Yeah, great music. I didn’t know there was an ELO tour, but I loved every nuance of your review and I would’ve loved to have been there myself. I wanted to give your review 10 thumbs up. Thanks !
This happened to me with Queen. I was utterly oblivious to them until just a few years ago. Actually, Vietnamese food hit me the same way. Better late than never!
❤❤❤Jeff Lynne's ELO was on Tour last Summer and Fall of 2024 for 31 concerts in North American cities. It was on my bucket list... Best concert i have ever seen among so many legendary bands. Jeff Lynne is a music god.
Even his solo stuff is amazing, Arm Chair Theater, Zoom, Alone in the Universe even Wembley or bust are phenomenal. He produced, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and others. Just an amazing artist.
Steve your comments are spot on. Was at the show in Atlanta and it blew me away. Sounds like they had the same set list. This one made my top 5 concerts of all time. Cheers
My love of ELO started the first time I heard "Showdown". I bought "On the Third Day".Then heard "Eldorado" was being released. My best friend and I rode our bikes 10 miles to the closest record store to get it the day it came out. Big, big fan till "Discovery"and the later albums. But came back for his solo albums.Saw them in Boston this time after waiting 51 years...Jeff Lynne is a treasure. The restaurant we ate at was playing all the non-ELO albums he had a hand in.
I’m 72. As long as you take care of your health with some added luck, I would have ten years of performance in me. This is the norm these days. Happily.
I also was at Little Caesars for Jeff Lynnes Final Show here in Detroit. I too would agree 100% that this was the greatest concert I have seen, and I have been to hundreds of concerts over my lifetime. The closest would be Neil Diamond c.1977 at Pine Knob. I saw ELO here in 2018 & 2019 at LCA, and the main concert closed with Mr. Blue Sky and Roll Over Beethoven was the encore. Again, these were fantastic shows. Ian Hornal the background singer also is a guitarist over in the UK and has several CD's out. And finally, I saw the original ELO back on March 4, 1976 at Cobo Arena and can honestly say that Jeff Lynne has to be rated one of the greatest writer, producer, and artist of our generation and for ages to come. And, as he ends his touring just a heartfelt "THANK YOU" for all these great years of great music !!!
Saw the band at the KIA Forum & walked away feeling it was literally one of the best shows/concerts I've seen & I have seen so many over the years (18 just this year). I have loved ELO since the early 70's & continue to listen to the band today. Everything was spectacular on this night I saw Jeff Lynne's ELO!
The little gal that plays violin is an amazing talent.. I hope he featured her a little bit. She plays jazz and classical and has an amazing voice to boot. I played a gig with her last summer and was blown away.
Saw them Wed 10/23. Loved this band since I first heard them in HS in the 70s and been to hundreds of shows but stars never aligned to see them live until this show. Not necessary of course but had some shrooms around so eating a gram before the show was a must. Good decision because the concert was top notch and uplifting anyway. Seats were one floor section back from the stage. Hit after hit and the performance, visuals and especially the sound quality were off the charts. Jeff Lynne is a genius and it was cool how he let others have the spotlight. Wife and I went to a restaurant/bar in the plaza near the arena and it was great to enjoy the afterglow of the show before the Uber home. Awesome night.
Would have loved to hear Hold on Tight to Your Dreams, Rock n Roll is King, or Calling America but everything they played was fantastic. We saw them in Austin on 10/14 and I completely concur with this review.
I went to see ELO (at the forum in Los Angeles) I remember when I was 11 years old in 1977 I knew all of ELO's songs when I was a kid before the internet and iPhone! I loved the voice of Jeff Lyne from Elo so when I saw them going on tour in 2017! I couldn't believe it! I immediately called my best friend who I grew up with and I said I am getting two tickets for us. I have a photographic memory from the concert and Jeff said " Wow! I have not played at the Los Angeles Forum here in over 35 years.
There was a Moody Blues Red Rocks concert on PBS years ago that I decided to watch. I knew of the MB but this concert was fantastic! Became a fan, watched that concert a bunch of times on tape too. I got to see them in Branson MO in 2003 I believe. It was wonderful! So glad I went.
I was there at Caeser's too. One of the best shows I've seen. That older crowd was one of the nicest and politest crowds I've experienced. I missed his first go round in Detroit so it was very surreal to stand there watching the show thinking "This is it. This will never happen again".
Just saw the last show of the tour in Phoenix. This was an extraordinarily beautiful show; a description I never use to describe a rock concert but it absolutely was. Great moment!
I saw ELO initially in 1977 at Maple Leaf Gardens, I barely knew their music and it was an awesome show. I caught them a few years later for the spaceship tour and they had a new act opening which was Meatloaf, both were good. A few other bands I tip the hat to for incredible shows would be AC/DC, Rush, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Supertramp, Queen and Springstein. Worst shows were the Stones and Aerosmith (on drugs). If you like ELO watch the RUclips Documentary on the Travelling Willberries making that masterpiece album, lots of humor and behind the scenes details.
Electric Light Orchestra and The Alan Parsons Project (as well as the Bee Gees who were also big on touring with an orchestra in the late 60s and early 70s) are among my most treasured music collection. Brilliant music!
You are spot on with your comments. A couple things I thought to add was just how flawless the entire band and show was. The other is the astoundingly beautiful ending to Mr Blue Sky, it was incredibly powerful and hit me like a ton of bricks, holding my wife tears streaming. I was so moved, we bought tickets for the next closest show and brought our kids. 13 hours one way there and 13 back and I’d do it again
I caught the show in Chicago (9/28). Absolutely the best of the five iconic band concerts that I have seen this year. They just knocked it out of the park.
Agree. It was such an amazing show. Since last Friday (when I saw the show with my 20 year old daughter and who loved it), I’ve been listening to ELO and watching their videos.
Jeff Lynne with the rest of the Traveling Wilbury's is a whole new level of awesome. You've heard the term "musical genius" and Jeff Lynne is a musical genius.
I really like this band , still have my album that I bought back in 1979ish and I play it on my PioneerSX780 receiver I bought that same year on a Technics turntable my brother gave me in 1981, talk about old school.😁😁👍👍
Spot on review , I bought my ticket on the first day available, didn’t even hesitate to. I told my friend I would sit behind the stage if I had to just to be there . Couldn’t believe they did “Rockaria “ . The singer blew me away. My only complaint was he didn’t do anything from the “Time” album . So I listened to the album on the way home 😊
I saw ELO at their Sacramento concert last Wednesday and they were FANTASTIC! I too have been to many concerts since the 70s but this was probably my favorite. What a night it was, so glad I got to see them 🎉❤
I was lucky enough to see them on the Out Of The Blue tour in Denver. Absolutely phenomenal. Oh yeah I forgot about the space ship that opened up at the beginning.
I attended the L.A. show the other night on Oct 25. It was my last chance to finally see ELO, after missing the Honolulu show in January 1978. I thought the L.A. concert was amazing and well worth the train ride from San Diego. Now my interest in ELO's music has surged again. I will buy more of the CDs.
I was there as well I’m section A.. it was a great time especially when the Dodgers won and the lead singer for Rooney noticed the fans. What a show… nothing can top this!
@@ghidrah76 I thought Rooney had a very good set. Very well rehearsed power pop. They seemed ready for their moment. But I am not sure if they can still break out. They have been around for years. They do not currently have major label support, if I'm not mistaken. The music business is tougher than ever.
Saw them in Sacramento last week. I'd previously gone to The Forum to see the Robbie Robertson tribute show (which was great) but seeing ELO at the Golden One Arena was like a "mini Forum" venue. Every seat was a good seat. We've been watching the Wembley show over and over again at home so we were primed for this show. We were not disappointed. All of the band members are stellar musicians. I got a kick out of Donovan (the drummer). He was truly enjoying himself during the entire show and we could see him singing the first verses of Mr. Blue Sky (he didn't have a microphone) and again, 'truly enjoying himself while he played excellent drums. Jeff is a perfectionist and in the interviews I've seen with him and his band members, they compliment him in saying that Jeff offers suggestions for improvement but in a good way and it allows them to amaze themselves in how good they can sound together.
Wow, they're still touring? The very first concert I ever went to was ELO in the San Jose Civic Center in 1975. It would be a real trip to see them again.
I've always been a huge ELO fan but.... still remember when I was in the Marines stationed in Japan, I'd go to the library listening to Face the Music on real to real... they're best LP!
Hi Steve, I was in row 9 center stage end of the row and you are right fantastic concert. My wife was not familiar with them but after said it was top 3 for her and we have been to many shows. I am a heavier rocker so personally I rank the show in my top few with Kiss NYE 1999 at the Palace Kiss played from about 9PM until after midnight. Ozzfest when Black Sabbath reunited around 1999? The Guess Who with Cummins and Bachman late 90's. They did every Guess Who and BTO hit. This ELO show was right up there. The difference BTW 19 and 20 songs was I think that Fire on High was a partial intro into Livin' Thing which is why the violin player was front and center. Some don't consider Fire on High as a complete song during the show.
Jealous!!! Awesome hearing about my favorite artist from my favorite attorney!! Been an ELO fan for 45 years!!! Thanks for such a great review; sad to know Jeff Lynne and so many others are ending their careers, just like all of us!
I think ‘A new world record’ was my first album I bought too - funny to hear this too lol! I saw this tour in Portland at the end of August. GREAT SHOW! I saw him, I think in 2020, from row 6, not far from where you were. His voice has noticeably changed in the past 5’ish years. He acts older. His voice wasn’t as strong as it was a few years ago, but it was absolutely amazing and I can’t believe I got to see ‘him’ twice before he was done, when I never thought I’d ever see him. I wish he played twilight. I wish he played Calling America as well, but that was struck from the set list after the Seattle date. I wish he played Tightrope as he did at the Hollywood Bowl. He didn’t, but it is what it is. His band is TIGHT. They were great! The sound, overall, was amazing! Long live Jeff Lynne and this little band called ELO. Awesome!!!
Steve, I agree with you completely I had the opportunity to see them in Austin Texas with my wife. They played all the songs that I remember from the 70s and 80s and yes telephone line is my favorite.
I saw them at MSG and was blown away as well amazing musicianship, and EVERY single was a hit. Rooney killed it too! I tried to get people to come but no takers, their loss!
I saw them on October 12th in Atlanta. AMAZING show. This was the fourth time I’ve seen them. The first time was at MTSU in 1978! My favorite songs are Rockaria and Livin’ Thing. My late husband’s favorite song was Telephone Line. I went with my son whose favorite song is Mr. Blue Sky. I was thrilled when they played all of our favorites.
I’m so grateful to see this amazing concert at MSG on 9/16. Loved every millisecond of it and got kind of depressed when it ended. Jeff Lynne is a creative, musical genius.
Steve, We travelled to New York from Troon in Scotland to the first Madison Square Garden show on September 16, best show we have ever seen in our lives. One thing to add, "Hold on tight to your dreams was a superb tune, would have loved that one.
I went to only one other concert that blew me away like ELO (Boston), and that was Steely Dan in Boston 2014. It was the night they played all the big hits. I splurged for front row seats and it was amazing. In Boston last month I got the best seats there were. Worth every penny.
Saw them in Chicago on September 28th. It was great! Also saw them there in 2019. Two of the best shows I've ever seen in my 63 years on this Earth!! Both times we scored free tickets. We have insiders at Chicago radio.
Pop music is fun! Grew up with buying the same ELO albums as you. Loved this group and covered Mr. Blue Sky in our own band. The Wembley concert is great! Awesome review!
I was also at this show. First time seeing ELO and I agree, it was the best concert I've ever seen. Been to probably 100 or so. After the show ended it hit me that this was definitely my favorite concert.
Just saw him in Atlanta the other night! Amazing show as always! Saw him in New York ni 1977 (the original spaceship tour), and 1982 (Time tour) when I was a teenager, and most recently, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, and Atlanta twice. The earlier "recent shows", he ended all of them with Roll Over Beethoven. One of my favorites he didn't sing this time was a Travelling Willbury song, Handle With Care, which he sang with Dhani Harrison. Aweome! So bummed he is done touring as I have been a huge fan almost my entire life! Thanks for the review!
Your excitement takes me back. Mid '60's through mid '70's I lived close enough to San Francisco where there were so many venues. You could see live music from major bands every night of the week. There was Winterland Ballroom, The Cow Palace, Filmore West and numerous others. We went to shows frequently and always had a great time (when we could get in as there was no Ticketron so advance tickets were normally available only at the box office.) Thanks for sharing...
Jeff Lynne is a genius and his band is amazing! Such incredible music.
I'm a 72 year old woman who's been to hundreds of concerts starting in the 60's. Lots of legends. Jeff Lynne's ELO is the absolute best concert I've been to.
I can’t wait to see them on July 10,2025 in Manchester, UK ( all the way from Sydney, Australia).
ELO and Alan Parsons, two favs. RIP Richard Tandy.
didnt realize Richard had died. Thanks. Guess he said "please turn me o-ver." Glad he made it in the R&R Hall of Fame.
ELO, Alan Parsons, and RUSH!!!
2 of us are going to see Jeff & ELO in Birmingham in July 2025. I wish it was tomorrow ...but we'll wait for it. ❤
I have a ticket to their last US show on Tuesday in Phoenix. Life long fan since 1973 and I've never got to see them love. I can't wait!!!
Jeff Lynne's my all time favorite musician. Let's not forget the Travelling Wilburys!
Tom Petty RIP and Jeff conceived the idea for Travelling Wilburys one day, after seeing each other stuck in traffic in L.A!
ELO is much more appealing
Thanks for the boost to Detroit. Jeff Lynne absolutely developed an ELO sound.

They have two concerts in Birmingham Jeff's hometown on the 5 th 6 th of July Manchester 9 th 10 th July and Hyde park London on the 13 th July next year hope you get to see them again all the best
Saw Jeff and his fabulous band in Nashville. Such a talented and joyful band. So glad I got to see Jeff again.
Saw them in Cleveland, and I agree “ Best Show Ever “ !!!!!!
I saw them in Indy and I agree! Best concert ever, and the crowd was having the time of their lives.🎶🎸🎻🎹

From listening to Steve for years, I fiqure I'm about 5 years his senior. I myself am a huge ELO fan and in envy.
Me too in both regards
Steve turned 62 in January.

Envious also. 😮
I loved listening to ELO as a kid. My dad bought their greatest hits on eight track and we listened to it frequently on long trips
Melanie Lewis-McDonald is Jeff's backup singer. She has a great voice for opera.
I bought 'Out of the Blue' when it came out back in the day. Great memories.

Agree. It was such an amazing show. Since last Friday (when I saw the show with my 20 year old daughter and who loved it), I’ve been listening to ELO and watching their videos.
Face the Music was my first ELO album purchased when I bought my turntable, receiver & speakers while in the service in the early 70’s

I was there too! Great concert!
A New World Record is such a classic that delivers. One of my first albums. Every song delivers!!
Jeff Lynne's a cool dude.
@ definitely tough. Especially in today’s world. Glad they got to have a chance playing alongside ELO.
Thanks Steve, enjoyed the vid and your perspective on the show. Looking forward to the last show of the tour at LA Forum on the 26th!
I had fun here in LA last Friday.. what an amazing time to see Jeff and the band, One More Time!
I envy you, I'm your age and never got to see ELO or Sir Paul.. They are are on my bucket list.
I have been too 50 shows this was the best bye far. Good job Jeff !!!
This guy is so on point. Saw ELO last night in Los Angeles and it was phenomenal.
Saw them a few years back and it was great
What Fun!
It's been quite some time since I've seen them.
Awesome show!
Glad you had fun!

Awesome!!!
I saw him in Vancouver. Loved the show. They didn’t play “Telephone” until the encore. My favourite as well.
Line.
I tried to get people to come but no takers, their loss!
great concert 4th time seeing them, loved all you had to say about music. the fire extinguisher
I’m seeing them tomorrow and I’m so excited. I do wish they would play Tightrope.
Lol, the memories come back like waves crashing over me - haven't heard those titles in decades!
I was there too, it was great!
Went to the concert too! Great time! Would’ve liked to hear hold on tight to your dreams
Saw them in '78 at Philly's Spectrum! Supurb then & still listening in '24!
Saw them the day before on the 27th in Chicago. Pretty damn amazing weren't they 😉
Last Train to London was played at 9-29…just like in the song!
Pop music is fun! Grew up with buying the same ELO albums as you. Loved this group and covered Mr. Blue Sky in our own band. The Wembley concert is great! Awesome review!
Saw him twice...vancouver and Seattle. Elo is what I imagine of what music I would've made...it's perfection.
Saw them in San Francisco and glad I did, what a great night!
I'm envious.
Your excitement takes me back.
Mid '60's through mid '70's I lived close enough to San Francisco where there were so many venues. You could see live music from major bands every night of the week.
There was Winterland Ballroom, The Cow Palace, Filmore West and numerous others.
We went to shows frequently and always had a great time (when we could get in as there was no Ticketron so advance tickets were normally available only at the box office.)
Thanks for sharing...
