Amber & Jack met and Jack fell in love with her when they lived in apartments across from each other. She submitted her work, and then left when she got accepted. She then lived a life without Jack & never went back, she just forgot about Jack. Jack stayed at that same apartment, and kept painting his memories of when he was in love with her. He died without ever marrying, just had cats for company. The game was about her memories coming back in pieces while seeing his work being shown after he died.
Looking back I think this is the true story too, so sad!😢😭 Who knows though, he could have lived a happy life and she was one of his muses and happy memories?
I thought of it more as of his memory of her captured in a painting. And you looking out of the painting and see him old in real life, and that's why he never talked to you because you were a painting. Then you saw him die, and everything up to the point of the gallery was memories of him and Amber together. The real Amber hearing that her friend had passed came to see his art one last time with her family that she made once she moved to New York, after she had left him behind to follow her dreams while Amber was Jack's dream. The hidden room is a nice representation of all of Jack's memories of Amber being locked up behind a door. Not to repress his memories of her but to maybe help him move on. But this is just my random theory.
My interpretation is that Jack was in love with Amber, but never said anything because he knew she would move away as soon as she finished her painting. You can see his face look a bit sad when she says she was accepted before he congratulates her. She moved and married and had children. Jack never left the apartment across the street and continued to draw her until he got ill and died. After he died, they put up a gallery of his work in a memorial and Amber returned home to visit it. I also kinda got faint vibes that Amber was perhaps struggling with dementia in her old age which is why the day kept repeating in the same routine and she didn't know who she was or recognize that she was older. Or perhaps you were in the painting in tbe beginning, trying to figure out why you had been painted. Either way, it's super sad but so cozy.
I believe we were a painting in his room, reliving the same day we had when he painted us. Thats why he would ignore us when we tried to talk to him, but we were still able to see him paint and experience the other memories from all the other paintings in his room. That would also explain why when he died and we tried to reach out to him it kinda looked like we fell forwards, because our painting fell forwards and we were looking at the floor. And then the next time we get to look out of the window it’s to the gallery. At least that makes sense to me. It’s very cute and sad 🤧i loved it tho
Great explanation! I was looking for something to explain why suddenly the windows were boarded up, and the floor being the boards explains it so well.
He was older and sick when he was painting a portrait of the love of his life at the time they met. This is the last painting he made before he passed and that's why it was so special to her and her family. And why his favorite brush was left with the painting.
Was in the middle of reading my textbook for class and wanted some music on, then I saw "uploaded 3 minutes ago" and "ghibli" could not resist. PROCRASTINATION TIME
This is why my paintings look like they do! I got the first part down, with the big splotches, but the magic second step where all the detail just appears is missing.
This was a beautiful and cozy game but I have a bad case of Gerascophobia(fear of aging, time going by too fast and skipping life). I thought maybe she had dementia and was actually old the whole time but it was a nice twist. It just triggered that extreme fear for me unfortunately. I wish time didn't go by so quickly, we are all gonna blink and be 80 years old wondering what happened to life? That is my biggest fear.
Evan and Kaitlyn: this is going to be a super chill puzzle game 5 min later: we are stuck in a time loop and we may be a vampire with memory loss and also this place is haunted
Came home to this. Been kinda stressed this week but this game is so chill and cozy and you guys never fail to make me smile. This stream was very much needed. Thank you :) Also you guys are so freaking cute together
This game really has this ghibli-esque atmosphere reminiscent of 'Whisper of the Heart' and 'From Up On Poppy Hill' I always adored this 'clutter' in studio ghibli's productions... this lived-in feel of spaces packed with memories.
For me the story is: Jack and Amber had a relationship but Amber died. Jack, in her memory kept painting what she used to paint, that is why their paintings are the same. She as a ghost does not remember anything, but is reliving her life. Also, the reason why I believe she is a ghost is the reason why the old man Jack never talks to her or interacts with her, but the cat does. And he keeps the cat as a memory from her too, as the cat is the offspring of her cat.
THANK YOU for the fun gameplay and commentary!! So cozy! Thanks for the awesome, wholesome, and fun content yall always put out!! &Not that anyone asked BUT>>> My Theory was that they fell in love and she left for NY, but we were viewing him from his wall since we were in the painting. Cat myths say that cats can interact with ghosts/souls, so the cat climbed into the painting. I think Evan was right in that Jack "captured a part of her soul". Either way, the painting was put in a bag/box and that was when we got locked in the room/fell. I think the painting was in his art room, and when he passed away his art got donated/put in a gallery. She left for NY young and when she came back with her grandkids she bought the painting from the gallery after he passed and put it in her living room. So cute UwU
Whoaaa! This animation reminds me of Spiritfarer, A really nice game. It's singleplayer but co- op is an option! If you guys wanna cry I 20/10 reccomend.
This was such a great cozy change of pace game. So curious and gentle and full of love for art and people. I think Amber has alzheimers which explains her lost days and confusion. She was able to piece things together and remember her younger days. She went to NY and led her life. Her Behind the Painting self could see/sense Jack was old and sick. She went to the gallery with her family to see the artwork. She left the paintbrush as a tribute. You wouldn't necessarily do that for a spouse when you have kids; you'd let them have the brush.
A Casual Couch Thursday could be a separate Uncut channel playlist where whatever games you play and save to that channel are noted as 'slower-paced' in releases and with either longer time periods that the game is played over (if it is a longer game), or for random games with only 1 or 2 streams/uncut videos. Would make for nice relaxed or low-pressure viewing.
Evan: Why so many puzzle boxes? Me: *Keeps all my perfume oils in puzzle boxes and is planning ways to add puzzle boxes to all my furniture* Because fun and whimsy reasons.
Could the older guy have been her son and the small children were the grandchildren? At the end at the gallery, I mean. That could explain the older man with her. She was old enough to have grown children.
Ok, well guess I needed a good cry tonight. Thanks for the chill stream and wonderful time. Seriously amazing content. Edit: I agree with gardengatesopen But I want to add. The game is called behind the frame. You ARE the picture in the beginning. Remember she said I call out but he never responds. At the end Amber is told of his death. The game is her memories of him. It's super trippy. Chill and comfy. But Trippy and saaaaad. 😭
I went to the Ghibli Museum near Tokyo. It was really amazing, it's just a shame no picture or video taking are allowed inside. Got some cool pictures around the outside part though!
Soooo I went to Steam to check this game out, and they offered me a bundle of indie games that included 'Calico'. You build a cat cafe and get cats in it, I think. Maybe it would be the game to you guys? Edit: Took a little digging, but I found your form and submitted the game. 👍
I watch every uncut stream and I would love to see you playing Breath of the Wild nice and slow. I don’t think it would be clogging up the channel at all. It doesn’t have to be fast to be entertaining. And thank you so much for posting uncut streams on RUclips! I don’t have a typical schedule and I’ve never done Twitch. You are my favorite RUclipsrs and I always love your videos no matter what the subject is.
Ok that was sad but wasn't as sad as I was expecting. I thought it would be revealed that she had dementia or Alheizmer's and she was trying to remember things by looking at her paintings or something like that.
regarding the BotW videos clogging up the uncut channel: you could still upload them but set them as unlisted. then you create a playlist for BotW videos which would be visible in that playlist (since they're linked there) but they wouldn't be visible in your normal RUclips page
I think you guys will like SpiritFarer. It's a chill cozy game with an adorable story and graphics. It's on steam and you can both play together on one device, or you can play together on two devices. (Plus one of you gets to be a cute CAAAAAT and you can hug!)
Another really chill, fun puzzle game that is two-player is Pode for the switch, i highly recommend you guys check it out, even if its just to play together in your spare time 😃
What a lovely game! I hope you guys play more puzzle games or hidden object games. They're not too long and some could be played through in one stream like this one. Maybe Nancy Drew? Edit: Also, there are a bunch of cheesy Christmas and other holiday themed ones, so maybe that could be fun as a special event kind of thing? ^^
1:16:29 That's how I feel about Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I enjoyed the story for a while but was starting to get bored. I thought I was getting near the end but I told someone where I was and he said I was only 1/4 through it. That's when I pretty much gave up.
Lovely game. From about 20 minutes on, I was thinking she was an old woman with dementia, and this was going to turn out to be like... some elaborate "50 First Dates" kind of scenario.
only a few minutes in and i already started theorizing that maybe the women and old man fell in love and then had to be apart (or maybe she lost her memory) and since they look so different they dont remember each other but through the paintings she gets her memories back. I shall see when i finish the video . I shall also not read the comments as i am so tempted to do 😂 (edit: Im crying)

@@jasminelila3942 right!
It's not very clear, I thought.
And this is just my best guess.

@@EvanandKatelynGamingUncut yes! You can be happy living alone with cats 😉

Just letting you guys know when it seemed like the building had fallen it was the painting getting put into a box to be taken to the art gallery.
Ahh that is an awesome detail!
My interpretation is that Jack was in love with Amber, but never said anything because he knew she would move away as soon as she finished her painting. No that's not it, the old man at the end is Jack and the young man is their son and the little girl is theirs son's daughter
@@NuqsStuff Jack is dead. Amber married and started a family with someone else when she moved to New York.

I noticed the final shot before the credits was Amber, painted from the old man across the street's perspective, so the old man was Jack.

Gotta get MatPat on it!! This was so sweet.... I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying.
...We're all crying.
This makes me think of the song Bus Stop by The Hollies. It has to do with rainy days and umbrellas.

I’ve always wondered if it was just a storytelling gimmick, Alzheimer’s, or a coping mechanism for her to deal with his death.
Could be the reason the old man ignores you, is that you're actually a ghost. Will have to keep watching to find out...
The player is not real Amber, but Amber in that portrait. Jack gave her spirit and memories.

Matt Pat! You have been summoned!
MAT PAT, GET ON THIS!!!
14:58 A necromancer? No, but might be a neko-mancer - HAHA - sorry for the word pun
wait so was she just an old granny and staring at the memories this entire time?

what if the older lady at the end is exactly the daughter and the galary is jack's and yours?
I also cried
Also I would love a BOTW playthrough
I KNEW IT!!!
I wonder if she was the painting...did she saw Jake died alone in his apartment
35:28 !!!! The arrows are like this ↑→↓→ now if you draw that out, And turn it to the side... It makes A QUESTION MARK ‼️
