Raul Malo is one of the best vocalists out there. Check out more from the Mavericks, like "All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down."
I agree with you. I love "All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down."
@@t.brannan6940
It sounds very close to a mariache band when the trumpets jump in , a really up-beat tune and a drinking song ....not that i need a reason to drink .
Love Raul Malo's voice.Love "What A Cryin Shame"
Had the privilege of seeing them live two years ago, one of the best shows I've seen in a while. Raul's voice is exceptional.
These guys are AMAZING. I've seen them so many times since my first show in 1993. If you can ever see them live, go and bring your dancing shoes!!!!
Awwwww I'm just wild about the Mavericks!!!! Thanks for this one!
Yes!! I just adore The Mavericks. Found 'em in the 90s and I've been hooked ever since. Raul's voice is so brilliant - please check out some of their other stuff like Dance the Night Away, The Only Question Is, What a Crying Shame, Here Comes My Baby, O What a Thrill, etc, etc.
It's hot but didn't come close to the original. Merle Haggard check his version out
100% agree
The Mavericks are so so awesome. Such good melody mixed with a classic country sound 👌
I absolutely love the Mavericks. What a great Country Band.
No the Merle Haggard version.
I agree. I love watching live performances. Thank you. This was an oldie but a newbie for me as well.
Saw them about 1 year ago and what an amazing show. Raul rules, what a voice.
If you haven't seen The Mavericks in concert , you SHOULD!!! The Mavs are simply amazing, fun, talented and definitely fan friendly. They feed off of the energy from the audience and the audience feeds off of their energy. Raul Malo has a pure beautiful voice. Eddie Perez on lead guitar will knock your socks off. Truly a great American band that can and will play all genres of music. Wear your dancing shoes because you aren't going to be sitting long.
I have been a fan of the Mavericks since the early 90's. Love Raul Malo' s voice. The and is tight, as you can see in this video. Those like the Merle Haggard version better, I can give you that. I like most original artist versions of songs too, but these guys have a habit of putting their own "touch" to a song. It's usually a little Latin/Cuban tweak. Maybe because that's Raul's heritage. I like when artists can take a well known song and make itin their own style.
Keep up the good work Ty, live what your doing here and on your other channels.
The Mavericks are incredible and you cannot pigeonhole them. I have loved them since I bought their first CD back in the early 90s and have enjoyed their journey through the roots of country mixing in Cuban flare their catalog will blow you away. I saw them live 2 years ago at the House of Blues in Dallas and I’m gonna go see them every chance I get. They are immensely talented and their concerts are a big party. And lastly, Raul Malo has some of the best pipes (vocals) in any genre (not evident in this song but please check out their other stuff)!
The mavericks concerts are the best ever!...seeing them again in the uk in June! .
Anything, original or cover by the Mavericks is good.
I had no idea the Mavericks were still around. I haven't heard anything from them since the 90's. I've always liked this song, though, ever since I first hear Merle Haggard sing it, way back when. I like the way thery kinda rock-a-billied it up.
Rah,Rah, Rah, Attack Of The Weiner man, Pants, Dirty Minds, Freak Flag. and others by the band " HERE COMES THE MUMMIES ". Great musicians and singer
Oh yeah! Seriously talented musicians, not to mention one of the funnest shows I've been to.
One of if not the best live bands performing today!
Love that swing.
I much prefer their performance of 'Dance The Night Away' at the Royal Albert Hall. I have suggested it a few times before.
AWESOME!!! I have always liked the Mavericks 👍 first time I heard this song...I enjoyed it I felt like I was at a big party dancing with everyone 😁 having a wonderful time 😊 yes Ty you are doing great things, thank God for you and your channel 👍👍👍 God bless you and yours 😇
Dance The Night Away - you have to try it out. There are so many good choices from these guys it's crazy. As Rob S says below Raul is an amazing singer. His solo stuff proves it even more.
Hello Ty The Mavericks are known worldwide
I really love this band. I really love this song (by Merle Haggard as God intended it). I do not love this band doing this song. It's just weird. It's not right. This is not a happy upbeat song.
Crowder,Crowder,Crowder! Play David Crowder ,All My Hope is in Jesus!
You should've done Merle Haggard's version.
This version is fun, and I love the Mavericks, but Merle's original is a must listen.
Keep up the great work. I love your reaction videos.
My favorites from them are "Dance the Night away" and "I've got This Feeling"
Raul has the most amazing set of pipes. He's so awesome. This wasn't the best choice for him to hear Rauls vocals. But I love Raul, he is the greatest singer in the world in my book.
I swear I saw smoke on them Ivories!
There's a reason they are called the Mavericks and this song proves it. Now the horns and accordion were good for a while but now its getting to be too routine. Rumor is they have a Spanish and country album they will be working on...fingers crossed.
Oh What A Thrill is a great one they do. Would love to see your reaction to it.
LOL, that keyboardist is another Paul Shaffer with all the head bobbing.
The best live band out there
love them
So underrated
Nice melody, good song.
I really love the Mavericks and Raul’s voice is one of the best but I wish he’d quit doing these songs so jazzy or whatever you call it, and just sing country the way it should be
Rumor mill...the Mavericks have a Spanish and a country album they will be working on. Great band and of course great vocalist. However, their last 3 albums have become mundane. Too much horns and accordion.
Please Ty, react to more of The Mavericks. My favorite of theirs that I ask you to react to is I Should Have Been True but I also ask that you react to their song All Night Long. You won’t believe how different both songs are and it gives you a glimpse of the depth of this amazing band. BTW, the parents of the lead singer, Raul Malo, escaped Cuba and you can hear Raul’s roots in just about every song, some more than others. Please listen to more of them. Raul’s a legit O.G. crooner!!!
I saw the Mavericks live back in 1998, they sang this song and they were brilliant.
Oh man, you really gotta do the Merle Haggard version. Much better, in my opinion. And if you do check out Merle, there’s so many great songs he had. Couple of faves are Mama Tried, Okie From Muskogee, I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink. I don’t like much country music, but for some reason, I’ve always loved Merle’s songs.
This is no good! You should hear Merle Haggard's version of it. It rips at your heart when he sings it! On these guys are just jamming and singing the song and that's okay but Merle Haggard really puts it into its content and gives it some soul, some country soul!
Felt like two stepping 😁. Got a good groove going, reminds me (sorta) of the Stray Cats from the 80s 🤔
I liked it ,,I hope you do David Crowder ,Eastervis coming up and all my hope is in Jesus would be a good song to review
OMG he could do album by album of Crowder and find not one bad song 🤗👍
Reminds me of the Kentucky headhunters
@MRM just a reminder to do a reaction to Dust in the Wind by Kansas
Could you react to “Stay With Me”
By Sam Smith.
And the momentum grows ,Ty please do a David Crowder song called all my hope is in Jesus or run devil run
Love Raul Malo. Love The Mavericks. This cover...not so much. Merle Haggard's original MUCH better.
I love the Mavericks, but truly, they should stay away from Merle Haggard tunes!! The true meaning and feeling of this song is lost in this rendition.
As is mentioned below, the Mavericks have PLENTY of songs that are incredibly good, but they do no service it this wonderful song.
I like the Mavericks but I have to agree with you on this particular song!
No sir, no how! Butcher music! Merle haggard is my man! They are a joke!
Raul Malo and the Mavericks ain't no joke. They are paying homage to Merle in their own style.
Live version is awesome which I believe there was no studio release of this song ? I like the sessions at West 54th (David Byrne) version better. It's a more polished version in sound and visual in my opinion. Thumbs up either way.
