I spent money on all of these DVDs when they came out and I love the fact that Maiden are now letting everyone see them for free. One of the few bands who embraced the internet's approach to content and saw that fighting it would be pointless from day one. Iron Maiden are the greatest band of all time because of the music and also because of who they are as people.
I spend money on vhs when they start....money well spend....i still own the vhs os live after death the long beach california show....and got the dvd version when came out....and i will buy it again if it come out on any other format
In 1999 Maiden sold the rights to all of their back catalog to a Chinese investor for 15 years. Explains the 2015 remasters, my point is whether or not their music was online for free they were already paid.
@Coy Leigh I can no longer find the video at least from search. But it was an interview from 1999 when Bruce and Adrian had just joined back and I recall Bruce saying each member got a few million, so I think it would be 5-10 million. He also stated in that interview that you would soon be able to download 'CD' quality audio in a matter of minutes. Which in 1999 was unbelievable due to the internet speeds at the time. So that was probably taken in consideration for the reason to sell the rights.
The reason why they're so consistent, not a bad song on any of their Albums'. Is because they're not just a metal band'. I'm not going to mention the other metal bands. They've got some patchy songs'. People think Maiden is just a metal band because they were underground and never got any airplay. @Ewolf5150 LOL, they started as like a seventies classic rock type band. Priest has some awesome songs but in my mind could never be compared to Maiden because of how they became metal is not as pure. They're not the last to do that though. Pantera was a eighties hair band at first. Very funny then all of a sudden they were hardcore. Whatever some can do it and pull it off but that's not Maiden. Maiden is a lifestyle.

So crazy how young Bruce and Adrian look, when at the time all I could think was how different they looked from the 80s! I guess 2005 was a while ago now 😅

I never forget what it takes to put on such an awesome show from stage hands to tech guys. Least of all the work of the band. I've been following Nicko for years. ( Pat Traverse "Puttin it Straight " albumn.) BUT been following this band from the first "North American Release". Clive Burr on drums. This band has progressed to the goliath band of today because of numbnut rockers like ME. Would not trade it for one second. The only two bands I've ever seen that tried to put together a broken world are you guys (God Bless) and the Scorpians. Learn from HISTORY but PROMOTE peace. Thank you IRON MAIDEN for being who you are.
Iron Maiden thank you for making such killer music all of these years. I started riding BMX in the eighties listening to your music getting me pumped up to ride hard. I still ride now and your putting out these killer songs to keep me feeling young means the world to all of us, thanks for all you do. 🤘🏻
Buy Store Too true. Maiden has always been super generous. The guys are known for pushing past their own security to talk to fans and sign their posters. Every album has had a bunch of b-sides included in the singles
I was 14 at the Newcastle show and it was my first gig with standing tickets. Me and my Dad went to a few gigs together but that one stood out more than the rest. 2 generations with the same love of Maiden. Still have my T shirt I bought on the night. Epic show by a truly epic band.
I Very much appreciate Iron Maiden . The first time i saw you was with Paul at Huddersfield Politechnic. 1980? Last time i saw you. Moto Club de Faro 2011. Im a biker. Big love to you all and many thanks for all the years. :)
In the grand scheme of things it might not make a measurable difference but I like the fact that the guys get together in the studio to work on the music. I know sending files and recording now allows music to be put together and until a tour the bands don't have to be in the same room. It appears that these guys genuinely like being together.
It's so cool. To see these guys still getting along still making music and great music at that for so many years. I love there sound. The bass always comes through. Good heart pumping metal. Bruce's voice still sounds so good. Keep it up forever fan and listener
Fan since 9 in 1990. I've tattoos and my house is a maiden shrine. At 41. People ask if I'm twenty five. Obsessed. Met the band and by far to this day the best metal band of all time. Check out Senjutsu. Superb album. Hell on Earth. My favorite on that record. All time favorite song believe it or not after 34 years is The Red and The Black , it's hard to pin point but yeah and No prayer for the Dying and Somewhere in time are my favorite albums. But all albums really. Even Blaze. I liked some of those tunes very much. Lightning Strikes Twice , man on the edge etc , etc. But Steve didn't let him do what he wanted and fur that reason blazes solo stuff is really really heavy and great
How this can be near 20 years ago is just beyond me!!! When I came to Maiden, their recording career was only 5-6 years old, their live career 10 years, but it now feels very much like it could be in its twilight. The guys all in their 60s, but Nicko hitting 70 this year, it feels like this could be their last tour.
I've listened to many bands. And all of them are excellent. Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band. Ten-fold. Maiden knows how to throw color on the palette.
Best band ever goes to Queen if you ask me. Their versatility in music was unparalleled across the board and time. And true brothers to each other. Maiden has that same mentality.
Yes, Book of Souls is a great album that needs a documentary and some b-sides. What Maiden calls not quite good enough for the album is still better than what most of the bands call the single.
22:20 and here Janick says excactly what makes Maiden stand out from the rest. UNPREDICTABILITY. When you hear a Maiden song, you seldom know what's going to happen next. Will it be a solo? A melody? Some vocals? You have know idea, and it doesn't matter what it is, you still feel surprised and amazed whether it's a new idea or something repeated. I think it's one of the major reasons why Maiden stand out from the rest for me. The reason why I never got stuck for Judas as I did with Maiden is that Judas is way more predictable. Take Firepower for example. The majority of the songs on there were very predictable. In every song it was very easy to see what's gonna come next and the songs follow a very specific, standard pattern (intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-solo-verse-chorus-outro). I'm not saying it's bad or anything, it's just very easy to read the songs, and that takes away much of the surpising moment. I seldom feel surprised when I listen to Priest, it's more like "yeah, I knew this would come", and that takes away some of the excitement. I wish Priest could be more unpredictable and push the boundaries more like Maiden do. With Maiden you'll never know what comes next, and a song can take directions you'll never expected 2 minutes before. That is one of the main reasons why I always will rank Maiden above Priest, and as the best musical act of all time. It's just so much more fun to listen to Maiden than to Priest thanks to the differences in surprises and unpredictability
To create an overall sound while still allowing for great variation and experimentation within that sound, to have a brand that gets fans excited across the decades... Steve Harris is a genius. Maiden is iconic and I've loved them as long as I've been listening to heavy music. Up the Irons! Always!
These guys were never quite like any other band. I really appreciate that about them, they feel more like old friends now, than this inaccessible, band made of gods. If it weren't such a subjective issue, I'd say they were in fact one of the hardest working bands ever. But they work hard, smart, in a way that helps instead of hurts their careers, which is an incredible achievement by itself, imo. MAIDEN!!MAIDEN!! hehe, takes me back to my teen years ^^
I saw Maiden on the Somewhere In Time Tour, they started off with Die with your boots on..then hit after hit after hit, they were all over it,every song was like listening to the album, and I was sitting in the nosebleed seats, because they were so loud I had to move back up...I heard and saw everything clearly, their truly Awesome live..!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for upload this documentary. From this tour was my first Iron Maiden concert, and my first metal concert ever, back in January 13, 2004 in Santiago de Chile. Up the Irons!!
10:02 "Is that a *sex cymbal?"* ..............................................................................."If you could get yours through *that* hole, yes!" That's why I love Nicko, best sense of humor of any drummer 😂
Nicko in my thinking is one of the best drummers still working. Saw maiden Aug. 2019 Nashville. Nicko was awesome , maiden was fucking outstanding awesome🍀
I like the fact that when you see the Death on the Road documentary after the Flight 666 and behind the beast you see so many familiar faces meaning that the crew enjoy it and the band.
So crazy when you hear stuff like " I came up with the little intro riff, showed it to Steve. He wrote pages of lyrics, and by the end of the day we pretty much had the song. And the song was Paschendale" That is crazy to think of.
I hope ur kids take over when you Heavy Metal Warriors have gone to another world but not too soon yet and the Iron Maiden Heavy Metal music will never die.
The biggest take-away from this rockumentary is that they're just a great bunch of guys. No airs or graces. Six guys who just get along. 16yrs later and they're still doing it, bigger and better...
Bruce is the kindest, hardest working, incredibly gifted frontman in all of rock/metal. The man flies emergency missions all over the world for free to deliver drugs and food during crisis situations. Why can’t the bastard in power take a page from his book. World would be a better place.
Adrian "We'll be around for a while yet" Me, just still spinning from the concert in Adelaide, South Australia, a few weeks ago in 2024.........boys have announced the 50th anniversary, fuck yeah, I'll be there. A little saddened by the news of Paul Diano's passing today. Thanks for your part in the development of Maiden, RIP Paul. Up the Irons!!!
NICKO!!! he'd appreciate that😜 Edit: forget all you've learned from Maiden: History of 1,2&3, Nicko was born, Nicko joined the band before Piece Of Mind & it's been his band ever since! We love you Nicko!
Went to see them in 83' at Glasgow Apollo theatre, no longer there but they rocked the place sweat running down the walls and serious power coming from Steves bass and energy from Bruce, always think of Maiden at there best up till Powerslaves ... musically they changed after then but could still bring out tunes of their own original sound.
I adore Dave, but he looks a lot different. He used to be scrawny with the long blonde hair. The rest of the guys look the same...just a little older. Still all aging pretty well.
Generally yes, but when people begin approaching 60 , the years coming rushing up , physically speaking. That said everyone still looks great, Bruce , however, looks considerably older but I would venture to say that has a lot to do with the cancer treatment he went through a few years ago. When meds fuck with your hormonal balances and organs/tissues , it can have very obvious effects on your physical appearance. Regardless, there are very few - VERY FEW! - bands that even come close to the same level of Iron Maiden. UP THE IRONS !!!
Some friend gave me the Dance Of Death when I was 11yo. It was everything I wanted I didn't knew it. I still remember the first time I put it on. Listening track by track, reading the lyrics and picturing those stories. I love the 80s albums, but this one hit me different. It's my favorite ever since.

These guys started it all for me, been listening to them since i was a kid and they still rock my socks \m/
Miss MetalHead Same here I can remember getting my pocket money and going to the shop and buying fear of the dark album x
Mandy money well spent : )
I've been trying to think how old I was when I first heard maiden, number of the beast. which got me into rock and metal to this day, I would like to think it was with number of the beast but I was 6 when that came out, I can't have been that young lol.
@@mandy5313 I can remember buying the first album with my paper round money.. When it was first released :/
Powerslave was my first concert, and they far exceeded my expectations. Class act. Top shelf.
I saw that tour, 6 days after Kiss' Animalizie and they almost out did Kiss. Both fantastic.
Yeah me too. 1984 I think. It put me on the road to be a lifelong metalhead 🤘
I love the way Nicko speaks, you hear that dude talk and he's always having a good time or a good laugh!
So crazy how young Bruce and Adrian look, when at the time all I could think was how different they looked from the 80s! I guess 2005 was a while ago now 😅
yeah, and Bruce looks like Gollum these days
Bruce 45 here
62 and still love Iron Maiden
Thebes ,way to go! I’ll be 62 in July , wife too 5 days later! We were born for each other, if this fucking China made virus is gone snoop and Maiden tours again we WILL be there! Two hour drive, 200.00 dollar tickets, we will be there! UP THE IRONS🍀🍀🍀🍀🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍀
❤️❤️❤️
51 here, and not stopping yet!!!!!!!!!
..loved them from the beginning and still LOVING them today...fantastic band WITH fantastic, good, descent people in it..great humble guys all of them..🙏🤘🙏...
"Is that a sex cymbal?"
"...if you get yours through it, yes!"
Cracked me up, up the irons! \m/
Iron Maiden thank you for making such killer music all of these years. I started riding BMX in the eighties listening to your music getting me pumped up to ride hard. I still ride now and your putting out these killer songs to keep me feeling young means the world to all of us, thanks for all you do. 🤘🏻
Ill never understand the somewhat low public perception of dance of death. I love this album .
All DVD's content for free. Who else does something like that? Thank you!! #UptheIrons
Buy Store Too true. Maiden has always been super generous. The guys are known for pushing past their own security to talk to fans and sign their posters. Every album has had a bunch of b-sides included in the singles
Only they
UP THE IRONS!!!!
Also Alestorm
Tyler the creator does pretty much the same thing.
Not sure if Metallica’s official channel have released them or not but there’s the making of their albums on RUclips too
You are certainly privileged to be In the studio when Iron Maiden is creating and recording .Maiden Fan since 1981.
As always anything "MAIDEN" is awesome
@@grimreaper2773 oh shut up
I was 14 at the Newcastle show and it was my first gig with standing tickets. Me and my Dad went to a few gigs together but that one stood out more than the rest. 2 generations with the same love of Maiden. Still have my T shirt I bought on the night. Epic show by a truly epic band.
Great memory to have with your dad. My first concert was Deep Purple 1984 with my Dad.
"Montségur" is a fuckin' masterpiece.
Fucking Hostile Shame they never played it live
Totally agree, one of the best song on "Dance of Death" for sure.
I love the riffs of that song.
Paschendale too, however they did spell it wrong
@@mekelpekelekel1298 ❤️
The guys all in their 60s, but Nicko hitting 70 this year, it feels like this could be their last tour.
always my number one band on earth.....football & metal fans surely will love Maiden
The ONLY 80's metal band still on top of their game!
rayze 101 bullshit their last album was shitty but the cover was cool...and preist is still on top with firepower
you talking about The Book of souls?
don't forget the SCORPIONS!
Judas priest are still on top but there from the 70s right
@Rob M Ozzy? Lol
I´ve been a Maiden fan since the early 80´s and now 2022 almost 23 i still listen to my favorite band every day. Best band of my lifetime
I've listened to many bands. And all of them are excellent. Iron Maiden is my favorite metal band. Ten-fold. Maiden knows how to throw color on the palette.
The Best Band Ever. UP THE IRONS!!!
Best band ever goes to Queen if you ask me. Their versatility in music was unparalleled across the board and time. And true brothers to each other. Maiden has that same mentality.
so amazing!! now give me same documentary for book of souls!!
Agreed! 'Book of Souls' needs a documentary!
Yes, Book of Souls is a great album that needs a documentary and some b-sides. What Maiden calls not quite good enough for the album is still better than what most of the bands call the single.
iamjesper xxlmmmmm
Mmmmmm
i'll never have friends like these guys are to each other :(
I'd honestly enjoy watching a five hour documentary solely about the stage set up
22:20 and here Janick says excactly what makes Maiden stand out from the rest.
Always!
Teamwork makes the dream work. Go Maiden!!
They did not play DWYBO during Somewhere In Time tour.
I was there on somewhere on tour, indeed they played ”boots on” ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for upload this documentary. From this tour was my first Iron Maiden concert, and my first metal concert ever, back in January 13, 2004 in Santiago de Chile.
Up the Irons!!
Love it. Never leave us Iron Maiden.
Fan since 1980. Saw them in 1984, at Wurzburg, Germany. Planning to see them again this November when they roll into San Antonio. Up the Irons!
Fave bit: Adrian quoting Spinal Tap at 5.28...life imitating art right there.
One of their best IMO, I guess there is just that magic when you get a group like Maiden in the studio
53:33 this girl is EVERYWHERE the band goes! Jees! Almost every maiden live show I see she is there. Hats off.
So interesting to see this sort of stuff, and thanks to a group of guys who are willing to make it available to fans at no charge!
This makes me miss my army buddies. We loved their concert in Germany in 88, Monsters of Rock
I hope ur kids take over when you Heavy Metal Warriors have gone to another world but not too soon yet and the Iron Maiden Heavy Metal music will never die.
My friday just became 10 times better!
Zec Gaming Fuck yeah!! I work nights at a hospital and I know I'm not doing shit tonight but watching all this content
Holy shit today im watching this at 8:37 pm on Friday
Whoa! Dance of death is a really good album. Now, I hope they release the Book of souls tour- documentary. That will be great. Up the Irons!
Aidan Bouw care to explain why?
The biggest take-away from this rockumentary is that they're just a great bunch of guys. No airs or graces. Six guys who just get along. 16yrs later and they're still doing it, bigger and better...
Right! Because they love playing, not the adulation. It’s the music!❤
Bruce is the kindest, hardest working, incredibly gifted frontman in all of rock/metal. The man flies emergency missions all over the world for free to deliver drugs and food during crisis situations. Why can’t the bastard in power take a page from his book. World would be a better place.
Holy shit, this was unexpected
Absolute grafters these lads, great band
Awesome to see how it is all put together, love the reverse Spinal Tap reference @29:27
And love Maiden!
Adrian "We'll be around for a while yet"
Me, just still spinning from the concert in Adelaide, South Australia, a few weeks ago in 2024.........boys have announced the 50th anniversary, fuck yeah, I'll be there. A little saddened by the news of Paul Diano's passing today. Thanks for your part in the development of Maiden, RIP Paul. Up the Irons!!!
Definitely put on memorable shows. Never forget Bruce slaying the dragon.
Piece of mind, the best album. Its Maiden defined.
The sustain on that... 😂🎸🤘
My favourite bit on that album is the very start of Adrian's guitar solo on the title track. That tone 🎸🎸🎸😎🥰🥰🥰
A nicer bunch of Rock gods you couldn’t hope to find absolute quality every time they take to the stage
thanks for posting this. Such an amazing journey this band has had. I've been a fan since the Maiden Japan EP. Up the irons!!
Bought Dance of Death in 03 when it came out, can't believe it's been 18 years already.
Great Maiden album❤️
Truly the best story telling band ever.
NICKO!!! he'd appreciate that😜 Edit: forget all you've learned from Maiden: History of 1,2&3, Nicko was born, Nicko joined the band before Piece Of Mind & it's been his band ever since! We love you Nicko!
Legacy of the Beast Monday in Charlotte - F A N T A S T I C!!!!! Maiden getting better each tour.
Janick: "most bands put down a click track"
Nicko: "eh?"
What's that?!?!
My Dad saw them at the old Marquee club in London 1978. I wish I could've seen that.
Legends...no other word for them
Maideeeeeeeennnn 😈 I can't believe they made all that magical music in just 8 weeks
5:30. Geez, all those guitars, just to "play" with. 😮😍👍
Has anybody notice that the Iron Maiden guys never age. They look almost the same 25 years ago. That's one of the power's Iron Maiden have. Awesome.
The BGM in the video 🥺🥺UFFF WHAT AN Emotion 🤘legendary Iron forever!
