Incredible. I've been in the stone countertop arena for about 12 years now. This was an incredibly interesting video to me. It would be cool to have a piece of that marble all polished up as a paperweight or something. The quarry that the Empire State building lobby marble came from? Just awesome, man.
This is right near where I grew up. Tons of History in this area; you'd be amazed at the number of factories and mills that were all over Westfield, Springfield, Chicopee and all up and down the CT river. Tools, Guns, Machinery, Silverware, Periscopes you name it was probably made there.
The Springfield Armory Museum showcases a lot of firearms manufacturing history in New England. I learned that Rolls Royce build cars in Springfield, MA during the 20’s. This was due to the large engineering and labor workforce that stemmed from The Springfield Armory.
This is so wild, amazing history you stumbled upon. I'm sitting here trying to imagine all the workers hustling about and the machines making all the noise.
Woah, this is sooo cool. I love your racing stuff, but this is just out of this world. I wish I could tag along in the adventures you go on !! Thanks for atleast getting some video of it !!
I really like anything old like that. Lots of Quarries in RI, CT, and Mass. My mom's family was famous for the grandfather having a monument company, and carved many of the stones for the Gettysburg battlefields. I always dream about making them operational again. You were within an hour of my shop. Wish I had known you were going to be up this way, we would have had you and Logan over for dinner!
What a find! Like in the race shops, be nice to find any relatives of former quarry workers to tell the history and stories. And the views!!! Outstanding!
I wonder how much of this kind of stuff is out there. It looks so ordinary from the satellite view on Google maps. Weird how you moved to the Nascar mecca, but found the right Nascar project far, far away. Somehow that lead to finding a surprising shop in the middle of the woods, one of the most spectacular mountain top views you could have found anywhere, and a bottomless historic marble quarry. Magic.
That's Wild. While watching the main video I was thinking "man I would love to live in a place like that, out in the woods, bunch of race car history". Small world. I grew up in Westfield. It was a great place to grow up too. It used to have a dirt short track. City wanted the land and didn't want to renew the owners lease so they bought him out. It has a small fair grounds that still does demo derby, truck pulls and has a bmx track. Next town over had a oval/figure 8 track. Mike Joy started his career announcing there way back in the day. I "raced" there once as a kid. They would do a thing where kids could bring their power wheel, big wheel, bikes ect. and race from the starting line to the end of turn 1. Unfortunately it was attached to a theme park that Six flags bought. They tore it down for the superman ride. There was a ton of car shows. Even a yearly one at the high school sponsored by the D.A.R.E program lol They used to close off the streets downtown for "the taste of the world". basically a big fair with live music, and a TON of food stalls all down the main street. They don't do that anymore. Good times while it lasted.
My dad was stationed at Stoneybrook Air Force Station, a few miles to the east, adjacent to Westover AFB. It was a depot for nuclear weapons in the '50s.
I'd love to see you hit Barre Vermont Rock of Ages and Thunder road if you're still back there. Ken Squier got his start there when he worked for WDEV.
interesting video I almost forgot about the quarry days I haven't been on you tube much lately so I'm glad I bumped into your channel again I mean I've been subed for a couple years just forgot about alot of ya cause of time away .so I need go watch your vids and get upto date on what has changed excetra
Lol come to New England for a race car and end up exploring outdoors! So cool you were in my backyard. Everytime I feel like Ive had enough of this area, I end up in the mountains hiking or hunting and randomly stumble upon something incredible. Nothing like stumbling upon a 40s/50s car miles into the mountains without a road or trail in sight and wondering how the hell it got there 😂 Gets even crazier when you find a wrecked airplane or helicopter.
nice yea ya should take a waterproof either 360 camera and light and a long ass rope or so and send one down and see what's there cause there could be like stepped cuts underwater and may or could be something stuck part way down and I know in Sanford Maine there is a old abandoned quarry and when I was younger friends and me use to go there once in a while drink or hang wit the lady friends but enough of that but I know there are cars down there and it is way deep as well but the like trail type road leads right to the edge and cars have drove right off it for sure
You are literally 35 miles or less from my house. I heard Westfield and I started thinking maybe they’re in Westfield MA but I wasn’t sure. Once I saw Harold’s crane, I knew you definitely were there and then you mentioned or he mentioned Springfield and stuff. A friend of mine owns 100 acres on the top of a mountain in Russell and built his house there in Agawam mass. There is now a six flags amusement park there before that it was called Riverside Park and there was a small 5th mile then later quarter-mile race track there, it was an original NASCAR track that opened in 1948. Hopefully you and Logan will be back sometime in this area.
I would like to walk around with a metal detector I bet you could find some cool stuff thanks for sharing tht view wow amazing I would sit there for hours every day never get old just beautiful thanks
The piece of wood that is holding up that rock that hasn't rotted is more than likely a piece of cedar. Cedar is rot resistant. I have pictures of a culvert that is @110 years old made of cedar that is still 2+" thick and completely solid.
That's the type of view I have. I can see the light from Redding and chico/paradise. Then I have the view of the Mendocino National Forest. Then it's dark enough to see the Milky Way at night. `
Maybe there's an underwater drone service that could provide images he seeks cheaper than buying one his self. Especially not knowing how to operate one. That would suck if it got lost down there 😮
I'm so curious what's at the bottomless pit LoL... That would be a badass project. Imagine finding a rare race car or something.... Probably bodies and s*** 😳😅
Check out the main video!

He's proud of that view from the back deck, and rightfully so!
How do we get LG as a sponsor on this race car? 😂
Most randomly placed RUclips comment award right here.
But also very correct.

I live in MA and there are quarries that are hundreds of feet deep and tons of cars were dumped in those quarries.

I came here from your other channel , What an amazing property the guy has , Definitely need some magnet fishing in that place.
Seeing those North East Mountains, wow what a view!

Masshole, Lanesville quary. I've heard stories they cleaned it w divers and crane, over 12 cars and a 10 wheel dump truck came out.

Just think a lot of those big rocks probably weigh about 10 ton and they were moving them by hand!
This is so cool!
What a joint!
Great video
This is crazy! Almost going to Dale Jr's boneyard. The spot were wrecked race cars go to die.
Fascinating stuff.
What kind of saws did this work, where are they now!
Good question!
Hey I know that place I worked for Jeff years ago doing concrete resurfacing 👍🤘 tell Jeff sell me his dirt bikes 😂
All that rock gotta be worth some money still to this day ..
Great content thanks for sharing

Absolutely

Mitchell if you lived on top of a mountain, you would end up being a road racer. Where on your drives home you could practice for Pikes Peak.
Backroads of Pennsylvania growing up basically made me that way growing up 😂

Definitely some more good content
And don't forget about that metal detector
Damn I’m on the other side of Mass on the NH boarder
Glorious
My Father in law would tell me stories of that place back in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s
That’s awesome
Went to college at UMass Amherst not too far from here
That would be awesome to stock with fish and have your own private fishing spot
Those same mountains are not far from where you live now in NC!
I'd 100% pump out the water and see what's down there.
Beautiful I'd love that
Good area for hardcore band photo
Album cover material 😂

I’ve seen that house from the Pike
That's a grate place 👍👍
All that exposed rock looks like the sour soil burial place from the movie pet semitary
