You don’t become a millionaire through saving. Most millionaires say that’s the biggest myth. You become a millionaire through sales of a product or service or investing. Selling items in your closet won’t produce a lot of money unless you have thousands of pounds worth of designer outfits and you use that money to reinvest into something.

Yeah true agree, tho lot of successful personalities buys lot of cheaper things,
Wisely thinking, depends of "the actual usage as well as the durability of that cheaper thing".
Doesn't mean your reach means it is wise and would help you grow by buying expensive brands, status symbol.
Summray: Lexus Vs Mercedes. (Longevity vs Fancy Short term usage)

I totally agree with the first advice. I recently invested in a Herman Miller Aeron chair, specially because I have spine issues (I got a disk operated two years ago), but also because I was always looking for better options than I had. I bought a 250$ chair, and the next month I wanted a 300$ one cause it has headrest. When I bought the HM Aeron for 1500$, I have never felt stressed again by getting the best option available and this chair is going to stay with me a life time.

My parents are extremely wealthy but didn´t teach me how to create wealth. To this date, I am just discovering it by myself. Also even when we are wealthy, my dad would have a scarcity mindset and my mother would be an over-spender who never actually invested. My dad is a very clever businessman, so I decided to help him with the business, learn, and then apply that knowledge to my own businesses. They definitely don't invest and I think that´s why we are wealthy but not rich. Also, they believe that the government is always looking to keep their money. So for my life, I want to apply the business mindset from my dad, but add investing.
I do enjoy spending on things that bring value to my life, and I notice that whenever I deeply desire something, like traveling to another city for the weekend to go to a concert, my internal critic will judge it. And then I would not do it. I definitely learnt that from home and I am changing it thanks to your video.

Marina, I grew up in Cupertino to a blue color family with parents that lived through the great depression. We shopped at J.C. Penny's, and Sear. My parents didn't know about investing and it was in the 1970s after I graduated from high school that IRAs and 401K became a thing. Because of this, I didn't learn about investing. I'm lucky in that I have bought houses that have appreciated in Santa Clara County. Between my military and government careers, I will have a good retirement.

Only by the age of 30 I started to learn how different own finances can be approached. That you can revise your habits and invest. That work doesn't have to be exchanging your time for paycheck with a ceiling you cannot jump over. My mother came from a very poor background and my father came from an old money family that had lost its money in his parent's generation, so my parents had very different feelings about money. I ended up studying economics in college, and that really opened my eyes to strategies for creating wealth.
My mother always tried to buy the cheapest possible things. My father tried to find a sale price on a heritage brand for most things and then used them until they were completely unrepairable.
I have more of my father's mindset, though like you, it's easier than ever to sell things before they become completely devalued, so I do try to do that.
Like your LV bags, I have made money on cars I've bought. I know everyone says cars are bad investments, but.... I have 2 advantages in the marketplace over others: 1. I work from home, so I can take the time to take my cars to specialty shops, where care is better but timelines are longer, and 2. My fiance knows how to evaluate cars (because he loves them) and can do a great job of evaluating that craigslist cars potential problems.
We have doubled our investment in 1 classic car and are on track to do it for another. We've also made modest profits on several others. It's all about buying low mileage cars off craigslist individual buyers, and buying cars as they are abour to increase in popularity. We buy older cars - our youngest is 25.

My parents were immigrants from Colombia. They were always looking to cut corners to save money. They were suspicious of investments outside of real estate, but that was the 1970s.
I am still careful with purchases, but I don't allow myself to be cheap. The real breakthrough came when I bought a very small book of financial advice when I was a teenager. I don't recall the exact quote, but I really took this advice and ran with it, (paraphrased from the original quote): "Your power to save is finite. Your power to earn is infinite." ...That said, I should have really, really capitalized on compound interest. Still, I am happy to be alive, well, and financially comfortable.

I'm an BTS army & I collect Merch so of course I need money, hence I save money & I still get pocket money fingers cross 🤞🏻🤞🏻. But everytime I buy new Merch ,they drop more Merch & I get urge to buy more, in first half year I was new & crazy like get my hand on whatever I could but now I buy stuff wisely with help of wishlist, priolist & financial schedule. And literally buy what I think I really want or need, never like before 😅.
+I got inspired by you so also I'll start an RUclips channel & start unboxing Merch so I can earn & buy Merch, when my new house will be constructed completely. As you said its not bout perfectionism it's bout starting.

These are great habits, but it won't make anyone a millionaire. The best it would help you save for retirement & not ended up in debt. To become a millionaire, you actually have to have large amounts of capital and invest most of them in high-value assets. To get those capitals, you either need to grind in high-income jobs, or be a trust fund kid, or win the lottery. It's not a realistic reality for most people.

I also come from a family where saving was important and finding something at a cheap price was like a little victory. But I can't complain, I was lucky and I had a nice life and I also got some 'start' capital from my parents when entering adulthood. My father actually gifted me some gold coins after graduating high school. As I didn't know better, I spent most of it on concert tickets and enjoying life. Oh what I would do differently as my now wiser self :D
The concept of investing to grow assets in order have more freedom in life came a few years later. But thinking back to my childhood, investing was not as accessible as it is today, at least for regular people. And there was also very little information. It has only been during the last 5+ years, that I have seen a huge rise in teaching the young and the old about handling and growing money. And it is awesome as investing has become somewhat a new national sport for Estonians (where I am from) along with ice dipping :D

Hi Marina, I'm also in the Bay Area and have been watching your videos since moving here. Which coffee machine did you buy? I've been looking for a good one for a while....

I love how you think about the life. Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate every point because this is the real way to improve and build and empire. Don’t worry about bad comments, they are just the percentage of people who pretend and don’t have the real value of this game. Thank you again.
