You know, my father died from an accident in October. In November a wallet my father gave me while on a trip to Ohio broke. It was a big deal because my father only made one trip in his life and he bought me that wallet. A month ago something just broke inside me too. My father was a cabinet-maker. I myself am not at all good with manual labor. I started looking for a wallet on youtube and fell upon your channel. It was one of the videos where you say nothing and just work. Just having that background noise remembered my father and I started crying... a lot and it was much needed. I often listen to your video in the background while I work and sometimes just to relax when I feel the world is crazy and I just feel like throwing up. Thanks for your work, for the peace you bring me, and for not giving up. We may never meet as I am in Quebec but I wish you a good day. Don't give up and thanks again for some peace of mind.
My comment is nothing like the previous guys, (i wish him the best) i have bad insomnia that comes and goes in cycles. Your videos are something that i can watch and listen to and usually get to sleep. It doesnt sound like much but your videos have made a part of my life better and im sure there is a ripple effect, better sleep means a better human means handling life better and spreading more positivity. Keep up the great work. THANK YOU.

I have been subscribed for a long time and haven’t been recommended one of your videos in a bit either. Funny that the first one in forever is one that is the most relevant to what I have going on right now.
I appreciate you making the video. Watching videos like yours, Stock & Barrel, and plenty of other leathercrafting videos had pushed me from a backseat dreamer to spending hours enjoying my new favorite hobby. I went from spending my free time playing video games and watching tv shows to leathercrafting and listening/reading books. It’s a change which has given me perspective and is unfathomably more rewarding. From a simple single stitch line wallet to bags and trinkets for family members.... I love what I’ve accomplished and look forward to what I’ll do next. And you’ve been a part of that journey for me. So thank you, I truly do appreciate it.

I’m starting my own leather company, and you were one of my inspirations, along with Corter Leather and Dieselpunk. I have already sold 3 bags and a few smaller trinkets to coworkers and family, and they love them. It’s not the money that entices me (although selling a bag for $300 made my day), it’s the process. Experimenting with designs, seeing the amazed look on people’s faces when I tell them that I made my bag, wallet, belt, and hat myself. Ryan, I am 63 years old and got laid off from my job as a Client Services Rep in the financial industry in 2020. You know what came next? I bought the TechSew 2750 Pro after watching your videos on RUclips, moved my 4 little Janomes into a corner (sorry babies) and got me some leather hides :) Sewing has always been a passion/hobby of mine but I never took it to the next level when I was young, regretfully, for all the reasons and struggles you just talked so candidly about in your video. Now I'm having fun, and if I can sell a wallet here and there, that will be okay with me. I am so happy for you that you have your family's support and that you did not quit. Keep up your awesome work. Wishing you a healthy and happy new year. I just love ya.. Cheers to 2021!!

You are a good inspiration. Been leather crafting for a year now while working a full time job. It's a hobby that I can do until I retire in a short few years. Then I go full time leather crafting.
Thank you for this. This has been the hardest year of my life. I won’t get into my problems but leather craft been a godsend. Hopefully some day it will be a full time job. Until then I love it as a hobby. I feel like an artist and craftsman had been trying to get out for years and I finally found my outlet.
Wow, how timely! Thank you for your story. I have been struggling and on verge of quitting. Always we have our own reasons and challenges and issues. Among mine are thinking nothing I make is good enough...and that is so self-defeating. When I throw it in a drawer and come back later I marvel at how good it looks. I hear your perfection and angst. I am glad you persevered. Powerful message! Wishes for a beautiful 2021.

I totally relate Ryan! I've been doing this craft for over 20 years and still struggle to turn this into a business that is both personally and financially rewarding. I've tried several times to go full-time at it when everyone was telling me "it's just a hobby! You need a proper job to pay the bills". We've also been living with my parents after our return from Japan. Thanks to your message here, I have renewed my commitment to do this for good. Thank you for the encouragement!
Hi Ryan, thank you for not quitting and giving up, and most of all being so real, about your journey so far. The very first video that I saw of yours was the leather envelope video and to date, and it blew my mind and made me appreciate what good quality leather goods should look like, and how you were teaching others how to do it. All the very best, keep fighting the good fight and keep doing what you love and enjoy. Sending you good vibes all the way from Sri Lanka.
Thanks Ryan for hanging in there and glad you did not quit. I am glad I found you through Peter McKinnon‘s channel and I love the scribe that I bought from you. Quality work my man. Now, about how you wear that hat, just kidding. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

I wish you and your family all the best for Christmas and the New Year,. Please keep doing the work you do and the videos you create to inspire people like myself.

Now I'm having fun, and if I can sell a wallet here and there, that will be okay with me. I am so happy for you that you have your family's support and that you did not quit. Keep up your awesome work. Wishing you a healthy and happy new year. I just love ya.. Cheers to 2021!!
Thank you so much for sharing this story. Not only this but also because when I started crafting as a hobby and just made a card holder that was not even looking like one but it was your comment on it as an encouragement that kept me going. Even upto this day it means a lot. So thanks for all those lessons.
Thanks for sharing. The grit and determination, of accepting the support of others so that you could see where this goes - such a beautiful story. Thank you for not giving in to the urge to quit, both in the past, and when it comes again unexpectedly.
I have to say, your gentle faith is very beautiful. You are one of my main video mentors, and I've learned so much from you. I'm glad you stayed steady. Thank you for showing us your vunirable side.
I keep learning from your leather craft videos, Ryan. You inspired my leather craft hobby, now I started to buying tools to begin the venture. Stay safe and well. Merry Christmas!
I came across your channel when looking for how I should start and I can only say Thank You, Thank you for being honest and genuine.
I am glad you are sticking this out. You are so talented and inspire me with your work. Your video do more than show your good work, you inspire, teach, and entertain. I am a huge fan. Thank you
Wow that is a great message. Amazing. Thank you for sharing your struggle. Not so many people do that. This is very inspiring.
You’re very humble and giving. Very blessed. Very fortunate to have an accepting and helpful family. Bless them too.
I appreciate the honesty that you presented in this video. This is the problem with social...we only present the good stuff, and it can become so discouraging. I am so excited to see what you can do in the future with your brand and youtube. Keep up your amazing work!!!
Watching this in 2021 and it's still so current. I've watched a couple of motivational videos in my time, and I've rarely been this inspired by something so simple. You're a great dude Ryan, I really appreciate this video!
This is very powerful and exactly what I needed to hear right now. Thank you for your videos and for your honesty! You are quickly moving up my list of favorite RUclips contributors! God bless you.
Thank you. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing and being so authentic.

Man, great videos!
Love the stuff you craft. And it is inspiring to watch you crafting.
Wish you luck and all the best in what you do!
I never watched one of your videos before until this moment 1/17/21. I enjoyed your video, I felt you and I know you are telling the truth 100% in my heart. You started a few years ago working with leather and I can see the amazing human being you are through your art/work. I started my own leatherworking journey in October 1996, more than 20 years ago, and still learning and loving my craft. "Leatherworking is a very long-term game". I just want to say congratulations and thank you for honoring who are and share it with those who can benefit from your wisdom. I wish you the best in 2021!!!!!
Thank you for pouring your heart out. You truly have the passion and your craftsmanship reflects that! I enjoying doing leatherwork as an art and your videos have inspired me. I pray our 2021 will be much better. God Bless
Thanks for the encouragement. Glad you hung in there and Congratulations on your 3rd child.
Best, best, BEST 2020 wrap-up video I've seen. Very glad that you put this out, sir. It truly encouraged me. Blessings on you and your family and congratulations on your expected new arrival. God is good.
Rayn, Your honesty, humility and heartfelt message were beautiful and very inspiring. Thank you for sharing. Very glad you found happiness in the proper places within your relationships and living a life with meaning. You are a true craftsman and your children will be lucky to have a dad like you. Happy New Year.
That was a very inspirational kick in my ass! Thanks huge! Nothing but the best in life for you and yours!
Great message. This hits home. I was laid off in May and just got hired by a great company. God has a plan we just need to listen.
My uncle is a retired lineman. God bless those that keep our power going year round! I’m 3 years into leather working and and trying to find my style. So this is VERY relatable. Thanks for sharing Ryan. Happy New Years! (Good riddance 2020). My wife is my rock and encourages me to keep going with the leather working.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Keep up the great work, may Adonai continue to bless you and your family. You set the bar for leather working that I hope to reach someday. All the best.
Thank you, good sir. For the reminder. First time i took interest in leathercraft i was watching one of your video and you just inspired me into leathercraft. And once again, you inspire me to not give up and reminded me why i'm took interest in leathercraft. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your journey Ryan! It's been great following you through your ups and downs, and I'm so glad you didn't decide to quit!
I am a new subscriber to your channel, and a new crafter. This was probably the best video I’ve seen yet. You have no idea how much I needed to here that. Thank you. I am praying for you as well.
Glad I saw this video. I launched my print-on-demand online shirts and accessories Nov 2020. You're a very sincere person. God bless you and your family, and your business. Thank you for the encouragement and honest view in life. Great products!
Very inspiring! I needed to hear this. Congratulations on your new baby!!
Thank you for talking about the uninflated truth about the journey of success. I needed to hear this message - I am at the same crossroads as you were.
when I started down my leather craft journey your videos were the first ones I watched. you have been a huge inspiration for me to keep going. thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us..
thanks ryan! i too have felt like quitting. keep plugging along. learned a lot from your videos!
Your message is very inspirational during these difficult times. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful Video! Felt it so much! I've only been actively in leatherwork for 6 weeks but your video and story inspired me months before I took the first step! Videoing the process is 100x harder than it looks too! Congrats on your business!
Thanks for keeping it real. You are very brave and I can relate to this so much, sticking it out with what you love even when it's tough.
THANK YOU!!! for this encouragement for us starting in leathercraft! I've watched your videos since before i got my first leathercraft toolsq =) thank you, wish u the best for 2021!!!
Ryan! Dont even think about quitting anymore please! You are such a big inspiration for me and for all of us. I hope you will do what you love till the end. Merry Christmas and happy new year. Hope 2021 will be much less complicated then 2020. Good luck in every thing you do!
I live in England and I really respect your channel and I have been following your videos for a long time. I had the fortune a year ago to get a trainee role as an upholster and as a bonus I was allowed to take home discarded leather and other fabric. I am slowly educated myself (again at 48 years old) to learn a new interest in making things from scrap. I found your channel and it has given me direction and desire to follow a new path. I wish you and your family all the best for Christmas and the New Year,. Please keep doing the work you do and the videos you create to inspire people like myself.
Peace be with you! Merry Christmas! And I'm glad you didn't quit! May the Lord bless you with many successes in everything you do!
God bless you brother, thank you for such an open and honest look into who you are and your life struggles. Helps us all
I totally can relate to everything he had been trough. The job, the sales, the everything.
I’m not there yet, but i believe i will.
Thank you for these amazing words of wisdom. I’ve forwarded this video to my young adult kids, as they seem to be going through similar moments in their lives. I love your work. You are a perfectionist. I find it comforting to just watch you videos. Please don’t stop. All the best.
Glad you're still here, making videos and sharing your passion with us. After 20 years, I just got back into the hobby, in large part, because I found your channel. God bless and Merry Christmas!
Now look at you...being the one that I and many others look up to! Thank you for all the tips, tricks, and encouragement. God Bless!
This was very nice and much appreciated video. Thank you so much for sharing it and for the continued inspiration. Best to you and your family.
I understand where you are coming from Ryan. I used to strive for perfection but now I strive for excellence. This made all the difference in my business and my life. My excellence far exceeds any clients idea of expected quality. This made me 15% faster which in turn brought down my stress levels and still made my clients very happy. All the best in your future endeavors.
Merry Christmas to you all as well. Thank you for your honest heart felt video. Its so true. I am so glad you found your calling when you were young.
I needed to hear this, thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to talk to all of us from the heart. Your heart is reflected in all you do and speaks volumes for who you have become. You are an example of honorable manhood for your family, your community and this world.
Thank you!
Really appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. Thanks for sharing all of that. You’ve become one of those people I admire and lookup to in the craft. The way you share like this is part of it.
Merry Christmas to you and yours too and congratulations for the one on the way!
I'm an IT worker right now, and looking at possibly starting a new phase in life. Not sure that it'll be leather craft, but I do feel like I need a change, or at least an outlet. Your videos and your story has been very inspiring to me personally. Thank you.
I don’t even know how I came across your videos but after I watched your first video I had this feeling you were a believer. I love the look of rugged rustic leather especially when paired with elegance. I never considered leather crafting but your videos have inspired me. May the Lord bless you, your family, business and ministry in abundance.
I have tears in my eyes. This is the most honest video from a strong, diligent man, who deserves all the appreciation after going through on all that years. Listening you, I had deja vu... I have two grown up sons, two grandsons, and watching your video I found so much similarities in your and in my sons' lives... So much struggle even though the final results of their work and art always make people think, they're the lucky ones. No, they're not. You guys work so hard for everything, you have! Thank you for sharing your experience, your thoughts and your good wishes. I wish you all the best the future can offer! You deserve it! Merry Christmas to you, to your wife who encouraged you to keep going, to your children, who deserve a nice future based on your hard work! Merry Christmas to your dear parents, who're always there for you! From the bottom of my heart
Thank you for sharing!! All the best for Christmas and the new year!!
Great video brother. I'm riding my stitching pony learning to make product as a side hustle while binge watching your videos. Hold fast, keep the faith. Merry Christmas.
This is so so on point Ryan, this is what I am going through now everything you say is exactly what I am going through. Mine is shoemaking though, I love this shoemaking with my life. You are so so correct. Thanks for the encouragement. I won't give up
Wow! This is so good, thanks for sharing and honesty. Good luck with your craft!
Thank you for your testimony! I t was inspiring and re-assuring! Pray for success, health and strength in the future.
Thank you for sharing. I'm been there before and somehow I feel I'm back again. I always thought you were a full time leather craftsman, you're really good and I think you should persist. God bless you
I perfectly understand you, Ryan. I'm doing leathercrafting for about 10 years and was ready to quit a lot of times. 2020 almost kill my business, actually i thinking to get a part-time job, if this madness will continue one more year. But still hold the lines... Merry Christmas!
