In this video Patrick Hall of Fstoppers takes a look at the new Falcon Eyes DM2 Fresnel LED Light. This powerful 200 watt focusable video light can easily adjust from 2800K all the way to 10,000K giving you full control over the white balance in your scene. The RGB and HSI modes allow any color under the rainbow to be created which means you can completely change the background of your shoot or add interesting lighting effects to any scene. Compared to the $3000 Arri L5-C, the Falcon Eyes DM2 is nearly 30% the cost at just over $1000.

I really want to get a speedring or octabox to soften this up but I've just been blasting the whole scene with a hard light far away and the results are pretty cool. Broad hard light from far away looks awesome but most studio spaces don't have 10+ foot ceilings and 20 feet of depth to play around with....even this space still feels small sometimes. -P

Great video as always! Although I have to point out that the lightstand you're using is woefully too flimsy for light that size of light, and could potentially be an accident waiting to happen. That light needs at least a C-stand or a combo stand. Just saying!

agree, its already looking wobbly. Soon it will collapse. and its a bit too heavy to carry around i think. only for big sets with a lot of people

Ha, I used this light stand just so I could place it close to me by the couch. All the other more substantial light stands were too far off the ground. -P

Your lighting for this video is exceptionally nice. What lights/setup are you using?

We are still building up the lighting for this set so at the moment it is kind of makeshift. Behind me and to the right of the frame we have 2 Fiilex 360 Leds as backlights/furniture lighting. For the key light, I just threw up a westcott Peter Hurley light (the old ones that were 5000k) and added a CTO gel to it. Then the room has a lot of overhead 3200k LED bulbs and I mixed those in just a bit to give some fill. -P

Always love your videos bro but, this light looks hella bulky and it’s too heavy for what it really puts out. There are better lights that are more portable and affordable.

@@FStoppers you have shown better lights, less bulky and with great color control. I don’t have specific ones that I like but, this is just to hefty and big for what it can do. And let’s be honest, those extra color settings are significant enough to say it’s a great feature.
