    I don't think Patrick gets enough credit for how good of a photographer he actually is. Great stuff! (Lee rolling his eyes as he reads this. LOL )

    I really liked the images in the end. Although you're using 5 lights, I think the mods gave it a good look for the background.

    Funny, I subbed to James' channel just a couple days ago after seeing one of his pics on the community. To your point of a 'soft box conspiracy', I remember buying an umbrella (from Westcott, I think) and the size of it was measure by its curvature when opened, not across the opening itself. Wildly misleading when comparing a 5' umbrella to other brands.

      Yeah his channel is pretty awesome. He's rockin and rollin right now in his career. -P

    ..... or just go to your nearest art supply store and get sheets of black paper and cut out the holes, then a roll of masking tape to fit in front of the softbox

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  2 года назад +3

      He did this but the issue is it’s really a one time use thing. It’s tough getting perfectly circular holes cut and then getting them to not fray after using them a few times. Honestly all that effort would cost $20 and a lot of time. $90 to get one made right that is useable forever…def worth it! -P

      Thin foam board would work well.

    What do you have your spare light stands hanging from on the wall in the background?

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  2 года назад +3

      It’s a manfrotto hanger. I’m going to do a new studio hacks video that outlines all of the little tools I found to make my studio more organized. -P

    There are only so many times you could use this, but I love the thinking outside the (soft)box. Did you like what I did there? 🤪

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  2 года назад +1

      It just depends. Probably don't want your entire portfolio to have this lighting but if you shoot senior portraits or are hired for team portraits, you definitely go do this over and over and over again. It might just be one setup you offer throughout the shoot but you def could have clients demand this time and time again. -P

    The soft box you have in your link doesn't fit the 3x3. I just got it in & its to small for the 3x3

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  Год назад

      That's strange, I pulled the products straight from the ProLightMod's website. www.prolightmods.com/general-6 Can you measure them? Are they 3x3 feet? -P

    • @moorewhitney1979
      @moorewhitney1979 Год назад

      @@FStoppers When you click your link for the 3x3 it offer you the 23 x 35 box. It's actually the 35 x 35 box you need for the 3x3. I'd see if you can have your link go that one box because I got first box assuming that was the right one.

    • @moorewhitney1979
      @moorewhitney1979 Год назад

      @@FStoppers Their website has the sizes but the way your link is set up it's giving one size (which is wrong) & an option of others sizes. It's cool, great video just check your links.

    Not intending to be argumentative, but the title “Every Photographer needs---“. How much use would the average/hobbyist photographer really get out of these and they aren’t cheap? If someone is cranking out sportsperson portraits day in day out fine, but then how quickly do the results end being rather a cliched ‘all the same ‘ look and one has to move on to something else. Another question, for me, is that the fixed size aperture gives a fixed perspective, in a real stadium the lights are further away and a sense of place and environment gives opportunity for much more realistic results especially using different focal lengths. A smaller diameter ‘mask set’ would be a good option the give the impression of space.

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  2 года назад +1

      I don't think the images created with these are ever supposed to truly give the "faked stadium" light look. It's more over the top than that and meant to be an aesthetic all it's own. -P

    these circles are bad AF! why didn't they stabilized the cutout with metal rings inside or something like that?...
