I was thinking that if you want to see how well it holds up? Look around for playgrounds that’s had in down for a few years.
I’m going to be slowly switching over to rubber a couple hundred square feet at a time. I’ve got a little over 1000 square feet just in my front yard. Probably between $3000-$4000 for both my front and back yard. But I’m spending $800-$1200 a year as it is already.

I found that you really don't need weed block fabric when using rubber mulch, at least for the first few years. In one bed in the back yard where there was not much shade cover, I had an absolute jungle and after rubber mulch was put down without weed block I had no weeds for years. Only in the last year or two when the mulch had broken down did I start to see weeds again. The mulch that was put down probably kept the weeds away for at least 6 years or more.

I read that the fabric is more to prevent rubber mulch from sinking into the ground than for weed block. So I will put it down just for that reason.

Thank you for the content! It looks great! I watched this video while researching to replace the wood mulch around my son’s play set with rubber mulch. This video was very helpful! I started shoveling away my wood mulch then thought…I wonder can I 1) leave the existing wood mulch 2) cover that with weed barrier 3) put the rubber mulch over step 1 and 2 🤔.

Where did you get the mulch at that price? I'm seeing $700-$1000 for it

The mulch we put out in this video is rubber much which is basically just shredded tires and rubber stuff like that. It’s very nice stuff and very durable. But it’s also more expensive. Wood mulch is less expensive but will need replacing each year. It all equals out to be about the same price wise. My personal opinion the rubber mulch looks better but is only practical for small areas. It really comes down to what your willing to pay upfront or down the road. Thanks for watching!

I have bark mulch that blows out of my garden everytime the wind blows. We are constantly cleaning bark out of grass. We are looking to replace the wood bark. We are investigating rubber mulch and need to know if rubber mulch blows away on windy days.

This rubber mulch probably weighs a little more then the bark mulch and should hold in place better then bark mulch I would think. Rubber mulch will definitely last longer though!
      Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi I want to put this in a small space in my front yard. I have flowers so for the first time before you put the weed cloth do you add more soil? Thank you in advance.

Hey! It is hard to say without looking at it. But it won’t hurt anything to go ahead and add some potting soil or something similar to help with nutrients for the flowers before putting the weed prevention down.

Why would you put ground up car tires in the garden? You are turning the yard into a dump.
