Sawdust flock recipe: 59mL craft paint, 180g saw dust, 120ml water (rinse the paint pot out to get the last bit of the paint out of the tube). Mix it all up in a steel bowl, spread on parchment paper and put in an oven to dry at its lowest temp (usually a few hours or so). Then sift it through a wire mesh basket.

Those hole-punched rivets from plastic is a neat tip I'm gonna have to try sometime! I started accumulating other forms of rivets for my 40K Ork builds: the colored diamonds from the sticky diamond crafts, miniature specialty beads from the craft store jewelry section (Czech beads, if I recall correctly; they come in a thin plastic tube), the nipped ends of cross stitching mesh lengths, and tiny pearl pasta. I've also seen people make molds for rivets.
I suppose there's more than one way to make a rivet. :P

tell you what else looks great when your doing the round hits in the armour, is once you have made your gouge (hit) put a small bit of acrylic filler/putty in the hole and use the end of a paint brush and press it in softly it will push the putty out round the sides of the hole and give that melted look rim around the hit mark's you have made makes it look very realistic

On top of that, when watching creative people at work on youtube there's always a focus on making everything look like it's perfect at the first try, when in reality the whole creative process is filled with mistakes, doubts, backtracking etc, i think it's important to show the journey, not just the result.

You can DIY superglue activator/accelerator. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda dissolved into 150ml water. Put it in a spritz bottle and apply a light mist to one surface and glue to the other.
CA glue needs moisture to set, and humidity in the air is usually where that comes from. A light mist of water can speed up the process especially when the air is dry. CA glue is also acid stabilized, so the baking soda neutralizes that acid and causes the glue to set more rapidly.
You can substitute isopropyl alcohol for the water since that still has water in it, and you only need a tiny amount of moisture. The benefit is the IPA will dry/evaporate faster, but being a solvent it might discolor or damage some surfaces.

    Hi Bill!
My boyfriend recently introduced me to your channel and I absolutely love it. Your videos have become a regular part of our lazy evenings on the couch.
The build looks lovely by the way!

Great build, as usual. Instead of aerosol superglue activator try using bicarb diluted in water, put into a spray bottle. I don't know who told me that, a scratchbuilder guru I think... Anyway he's not as good as you.

There is one other thing we can do besides give like, subscribe and comment on a video, which is to favorite the channel and put in the inspirations folder. It's all done! Love the cat! 🤯

Hi Bill. Love the video. Not sure if someone has mentioned it before but the black textured rectangles you use are spacers used for laying laminate flooring

I've been pretty sick lately, and your videos are the perfect easy watching content that I love. It's so cool to watch your process, and it helps me burn away the time I'd otherwise spend just lying around. I'll always be eagerly awaiting your next upload! :D

I stumbled upon your channel only yesterday, but I think this is like the 17th video of yours I’ve watched since then, so… it’s riveting, I guess… Love the build, makes me wanna try my own.

I really like this one. At one point I thought it was too much, but after the (second) paint job it ... happened. I love it when a plan comes together! 😀 Greetings from Switzerland - Andrew 🍁☕️

Good luck with answering! :) I also was curious if you could do a more bold-colored paint job at some point? You do tend to like the gritty (which looks great). I'd be curious how it would look bright colored and then grittified? billified?

I tend to paint my pieces to fit with each other aesthetically... of the same world. So they can sit on the same tabletop.

I really like it, the paint job was so much better the second time. Reminded me of something out of Red Dwarf. Maybe that will be a good future build, a build inspired by the ships of Red Dwarf.

This was the first video I've seen of yours and you've earned a new subscriber! The ship is wonderful and the editing is just as whimsical, meticulous, and artistic.

It would be so amazing if you started a 'space ship series'
...building famous space ships...from Final Space, Rick and Morty, Futurama... to a DeLorean, a TARDIS😍 (maybe too simple for you!?🤔 But I would definitely try building my own with a fun video from you🧡) and all the other ships from shows, movies and books.
(Not mentioning all the Star Wars thingies on purpose. Too mainstream and probably overdone already...🙈
...The ship from Firefly or whatnot would be way more awesome.)
It would be great to watch your take on those😍
PS.: Obviously...I love your creativity and sense of humour. Don't stop making videos 🧡
PS 2.: Since you said you'll read all of those...I have to use that opportunity.
Could/Would you make a yellow submarine (video) too?😍😍

the rivets out of a butter container are such a great idea, they're so small you could get a bajillion of them out of one container!

I used to be wedded to the idea that I had to use model kit parts for detailing scratchbuilds. Since the cost of buying model kits for parts skyrocketed I , like you , discovered the incredible pieces to be found in recycling bins and inside plastic bottles and old appliances. Once you start looking for this stuff you start seeing it everywhere. I never even think of buying model kits for parts anymore.

Hey Bill, challenge for you, one I used to do with my dad when I was a kid: a full on trash bash: no poundstore, no gifted bits, no old industrial strenght deodorants caps, just material foraged in streets and trashes. I actually used to dream of doing that full time, you lucky bastard! Much love
