    Car dealerships need to go, they are so terrible. The sales people are also the worst, I never met slimier people then a new car dealer. Surprisingly used car dealers not as slimy.

      Used car dealers save you the hassle of looking through different models and meeting many different owners by representing them in one place, by buying their cars. New car dealerships are nothing but governmentally endorsed Mafia; they want to have a cut in something they never contributed to and are protected by the law.

      you also get the really awesome used car dealers. there is one guy near me that if he doesn't have what you are looking for on the lot, just write down what you are looking for and he'll find it. might take a month or two but if you want an electric pink Ford F-150 4x4 two door with a lime green neon kit, he'll find it.

    I hate the idea of haggling for a price on a car. I think we should be able to purchase a car much like we can purchase a tv or a coffee maker and if we don't like it we should be able to return it within 30 days. This will put the car for sale at an even cheaper price which is great for someone who wants one at a discount or one that is refurbished. Millions of drivers get fucked over in the buying process every year and nothing is being done about it to improve it in the customer's favor.

    • @joeljeffrey9139
      @joeljeffrey9139 6 лет назад +7

      Well some places in the U.S. don't haggle at all. They state the price you see is the price you get (EX: Carmax, Porsche, etc). Carmax at least allows you to return a car within 5 days as long as the condition of the car is the same as when you purchased it. The only issue is that they charge new car prices for used ones, maybe being $1000 or $2000 less, which isn't a substantial discount in my opinion.
      It's a double edge sword. If the middle man is cut, buying straight from the manufacturer would be cheaper, but most dealerships wouldn't be needed. Costing jobs.

    • @TheythinkimNinja
      @TheythinkimNinja 6 лет назад +55

    • @suiton20
      @suiton20 6 лет назад +4

      Joel Jeffrey it wouldn’t really cost jobs. The dealer would still be there for people who wants to test drive the car and don’t want to wait for their car to be built. It would open up so many customization options on cars that are only on low end or high end trims such as manual gearbox(treated as both theses days). Let’s say you want to buy a Hyundai Accent. You go and test drive some. One with manual the lowest trim one because it’s exclusive to it and the highest trim one that comes with 4 disc brakes and has lighter wheels, but is only automatic. The dealer isn’t currently carrying your ideal configuration and your more willing to have one custom built. So you go to the Hyundai website, go order it and your done. This would give people an option to either have leather or cloth in there car and get an option for manual transmission if the car somewhere in the world is made that way

    • @PrydeWater901
      @PrydeWater901 6 лет назад +9

      There are some that would potentially take advantage of that system. If you have a 30 day return window, why not just try a new car every 29 days?

    • @suiton20
      @suiton20 6 лет назад +7

      This is how it can work out. You can go to the dealer to test drive the car you have interest in, then buy it online to further customize it. The dealer would be still there for those that don’t want to wait for their car to be made. Just like you can buy computers from the store or have a customized one online. It would open up car models and trims so you could have even possibly have a jdm car. You may have to pay extra for it to be built because of shipping some parts. Dealers will be more like a store. If direct sales were that bad, Best Buy and frys would be out of business

Now he is capitalizing on tech from more than a century ago (electric vehicles that is) and using his personal profit to explore space or more specifically Earth's moon and Mars. Everyone seems to think this is to further human progress but I believe he is actually interested in mining rare elements from asteroids that have impacted the moon and Mars due to their lack of atmosphere. Another interesting fact is that many of Earth's precious metal mines are the sites of meteorites that have made it through Earth's atmosphere.

      If a dealer is withholding rebate/incentive money on you, and claiming it, it is illegal. We had a Ford dealership in our area have to send out over $800,000 in checks to previous customers after they were caught by an audit. There should be zero worry when purchasing a brand new vehicle, but you should always do your research, go to the manufacturer’s website, and see current incentives. If you pay anything over that you are a fucking idiot, and should never go back to that dealer again. Plus maybe, idk report it to the manufacturer? MSRP is listed, and if you pay over it (unless it is a brand new model year, and the only thing that puts your total over is state tax, doc fee, reg/title fee) you should have the word idiot tattooed across your forehead.

    Great video. You missed 2 things: the fact that OEMs love having a buffer between them and the end user and the service departments. OEMs like having dealers who will hold inventory so the OEM can keep production steady. Dealers make a lot of money from manufacturers to do the work of managing inventory levels. Dealers absorb some cost when inventory gets too high, but in the long run they make a lot of money and the manufacturer doesn’t have to keep tons of inventory on their balance sheet. Also, dealers are equally important as service departments as they are for sales. They are the only ones that can do warranty work and they sell the manufacturer’s official parts. Good dealers will help a customer throughout their ownership experience from purchase, servicing and eventual trade-in. That takes a lot of people and process that the manufacturers frankly might not do as well as the dealers, since they’re not integrated into the local community.

    • @nicholasfield6127
      @nicholasfield6127 4 года назад

      The manufacturer doesn't care what the dealership does as long as they do what they're supposedly supposed to do. I had a warranty issue on a car and the dealership wasn't helping. So I called another and same thing. So I called the manufacturer and they basically told me tough shit, they have no control over the warranty repairs and the dealership said they did what they were supposed to do, which they obviously didn't.

    • @zacharytracy3797
      @zacharytracy3797 4 года назад +2

      A "Trade In" is basically when a person doesn't want to deal with their car anymore (because, let's face it: modern American cars are products of planned obsolescence that are broken and worthless at the end of a 7-year payment plan) so they go back to the dealer "trade in" their car for a measly amount of money which then applies towards the sale (or let's be real: a minimum down payment for financing) for a new car. Americans don't view cars as something that can be repaired or rebuilt and stay on the road for a long time. That's partly because many manufacturers intentionally design their vehicles to be costly to repair simple things. When they see a $2,100 plus repair bill and a 15 hour job for something as simple as air conditioning after 60,000 miles, that makes them want to get a new car because "who knows how long it'll be before something else breaks and costs alot of money, might as well get new" failing to realise what's really going on and buy a new car from the same goddamn manufacturers as soon as they're done paying off their previous car.

      For example, i went to Italy to the Ferrari HQ in Maranello, and was able to directly design my 812, from the stitching on the seats to the exterior finish, from A to Z.
      No bullshit dealers to mark up the price, or try to bullshit me into buying a car from them with "unique" or "extra features" that come standard on pretty much every car since 2010.
      Although it took 9 months to get it built and shipped, i'm still very pleased with it, and use it every weekend.

    I'm a car salesman, I have a deep knowledge of my product and I make a good living for my family. Anything can be done with a computer and if we all decided to do everything through the internet alot of us wouldn't have jobs. "Haggling" for car prices is something people do and dont care that it makes my life miserable and that I'm trying to make money for my family, meanwhile they work at a hospital or attorney's office or whatever their profession is and their customers cant haggle their prices. It's not like dealerships have excessive markup in their vehicles(and when we do it's for a rare vehicle that's called supply and demand) and we make deals that loose money because the manufacturer needs us to make a quota. It's the only business that's wrong for wanting to make a profit. Try going to a restaurant and haggling the price of your dinner. You can't, and you could go grocery shopping and make your own dinner but it wont have the service and other people making your food for you so you can relax and enjoy your meal. You want to build your own car go ahead. It's going to take you a long time and you may even get accomplishment for doing it. But it will take a lot of time and effort but hey it will be cheaper!
    P.S. love this channel and will stay subscribed this is probably the only video I dislike. Keep up the good work!

Dealerships aren't obsolete but they are overly antiquated and far too restrictive.

    Car dealers serve several functions that are vital to health of the industry as a whole. First and foremost they stabilize the production chain, in order to begin production on a new product you need to have enough sales of that product booked to pay for the tooling changes on the production line necessary to build that product. You can't do that with direct sales. You need someone to buy the product to warehouse it for eventual sale to a end customer. That is where the car dealer comes in. You also need a massive network of local service centers to maintain the fleet. If you have 30 million units on the road, you can't have them shipped back to factory for service and warranty repair. That would create a massive bottleneck and people would be waiting weeks to get their car serviced, you need that local dealer network to perform service and warranty repair on the cars efficiently.

      your logic is off. Aluminum and Aluminium are SPELLED differently. If Tesla is named after the man, I doubt he pronounced his name like a burger-chomping Kansan. Musk gets to call it what he wants to, and that's the way it's said.

    As someone in Michigan my heart just sank. I've always seen a lot of Tesla related videos online and they look amazing, I'd like to have one in the future. I hope electric cars become mainstream.

      You can get Tesla’s, you just have to buy it out of state. I pass 2-3 a day around metro Detroit.
