  • In this continuation from Part 3 : The Excavated Site, John demonstrates how he models the proposed site, including backfilling around the house for the proposed grade, and adding the driveway all per the site plan. Ultimately he is able to determine the amount of excess soils that will need to be hauled offsite.

Thank you for the most valuable information I have found on the process of creating a site excavation. Thanks also for exposing all the troubles we all run into when modeling, it is very useful to see how you help on how to solve the issues.

Thank you so much for your authenticity. I truly appreciate the unfiltered effort you put into creating the mesh. I only wish this video had been available two years ago, as it outlines the exact workflow I had to piece together myself from various other videos and forum posts on SketchUp. You're absolutely right that the time investment is worth it in the end. Solid Inspector is a life saver!

John, I feel your pain, but thanks for figuring out these processes. It's tragic that Trimble / SU havent been able to automate any of this by now.

Thanks! I have thought about ways to automate it, but can't afford to develop another extension right now!

Hi! I don’t use Revit, so don’t know. Doubt it’s much easier, and it’s sure a lot more expensive!
