Gosh this makes me yearn for fall/winter time, when you're all done shopping for the holidays and you decide to get a hot coffee at your favorite bar before you go home to have dinner. When you open the door, being all wet from the rain, you feel the warmth of the fire, you smell the aroma of fresh coffee and old wood and you see a bunch of friendly faces at the bar. I love it when you get those little stolen hours with friends where you really feel safe and loved and the world isn't any bigger than that room in that moment. This video and sound perfectly captures that for me. 9.8/10 ;-) (The only tiny thing is that the rain drops on the window are too big to look very realistic, but otherwise it's perfect)
Such a warm and thoughtful comment! Thank you, Eva! You painted the scene perfectly (and actually got me missing the holidays too, ha!). The smell of 'old wood' and coffee evokes such nostalgia for me. I do love popping into a good pub in the middle of winter or autumn so much more than in the summer. 💛 P.S. My videos aren't meant to be perfectly realistic; if I have an asset I want to use and can't scale it to size, I don't mind. Many people would probably frown if I said that pubs mean part of my childhood but it's true. As a kid, we went on a bike a lot, as well as roller-skating and mainly rafting. Since Czech culture is connected a lot with beer, these sports are too because most of the time, the destination was a pub or pub in a camp we went to. While the adults sat in the pub drinking beer and chatting, we kids were usually outside the pub doing all sort of mischiefs. :D Now in my adult years, the pub is a symbol of meeting with friends for one beer (or two, Czechs never drink just one, lol) to catch up and just have a good time. And this ambience fits it absolutely perfectly. Now this particular pub reminds of me two pubs in my life. One is still in operation, the other one is closed. The first is in Zlatá Koruna (nearby Český Krumlov), a small pub we occassionaly stopped by at while rafting on the Vltava River. The other one was then a frequent destination on weekends since it was a couple of kilometres away from my home (and about an hour bike ride) on a private aerodrome called Točná. Unfortunately, the pub is no longer opened but the memories stay. :)
I just loved the pubs in Prague that I visited; you can't find places like that here (the decor, the beer, the prices, the ambience)! I never visited Zlatá Koruna and now I wish I had.
