When I was a child, whenever it rained my mum would wake my brother, sister and me up (my dad worked night),turn off all the lights and turn the sofa to face the windows. We would all sit there with hot chocolate and listen to the storm while waiting to see the lightning, we lived on a hill and could see for miles. We all grew up to absolutely love thunderstorms and do similar things with our children. I found out recently that my mum hated them and was terrified but by waking us up and pretending she loved them she found she could cope.

Minus the cabin, that looks exactly like my old place outside of Victoria BC. Australia is fantastic but the vibe here is so different. After a rainy night the air smells so clean. When I try sleeping I have to have something like this rain to sleep by. I also keep a fan running to listen too. My dad thinks I'm crazy bc of the fan.
Back when I was in primary school, I came to associate the rain for a no-school day, meaning I could relax at home and play games. That left a lasting impact on me, even to this very day, so this gives me a lot of catharsis. Thank you.

I only just found out about these videos from my cousin Rochelle, and shed tells me their so calming, that she can actually go to sleep to them, I know it helps me with my anxiety to come down off an attack, I love the sound of rain on a rainy night anyway, especially if it's a hard rain like this is, plus, for shits and giggles, i sometimes add static from a websdr app that I have for listening to shortwave radio, and it makes it all the more calming. radio static, and a good thunderstorm go hand in hand.

When I was a child, whenever it rained my mum would wake my brother, sister and me up (my dad worked night),turn off all the lights and turn the sofa to face the windows. We would all sit there with hot chocolate and listen to the storm while waiting to see the lightning, we lived on a hill and could see for miles. We all grew up to absolutely love thunderstorms and do similar things with our children. I found out recently that my mum hated them and was terrified but by waking us up and pretending she loved them she found she could cope.
