    Audrey, you Tease 😂😂😂. Definitely, DO NOT give or show your address..... Safety First! Hope we do get a tour before and after you've moved in. I'd ❤❤❤ to see how you girls make it your Own and a Home 🤔😁. Great video. It certainly seemed like a very frustrating and overwhelming process 😅. Til the next one. Take care 😘.

    I have a question about the salary requirements. If you need to make 40x the annual rent, and conservatively speaking, you need 5K a month, does that mean you need to make 2,400,000 a year collectively to get the apartment? Because that would mean each of you would need to make over a million dollars in your last tax return as proof of income, and that seems pretty steep for recent college students. So I'm curious how that works.

    • @simaogoncalves07
      @simaogoncalves07 4 месяца назад +5

      its 40x the monthly rent not the annual rent

    • @kevinli9488
      @kevinli9488 3 месяца назад +3

      So in your example, if the rent for an apartment was 5K a month, the broker/landlord would be looking for you and your roommates to make 5K * 40 = 200K a year in combined total income. If y'all couldn't meet that, you could opt for a guarantor (parents, family, friends etc.) but they would need to make 5K * 80 = 400K a year in combined total income.

      It’s not. It’s gross, not net. For 4,000/month they each need to make 80,000 a year. After taxes, benefits etc, that’s a under 60k net. So your take home is under 5k a month. They’re going to pay 1/2 of their take home on rent and utilities.

    FYI to anyone watching this - "Good Faith Deposits" are illegal in NYC and cannot be requested by the landlord nor can a broker accept one. Even if they are refundable.

    are you sure it's 40 times the yearly rent? that would mean you'd have to make 100000 dollars a month. It makes more sense if it's 40 times the monthly rent in a year

    "kinda bad karma to put down a deposit if you're not serious." there's literally nothing u can do that would bring you bad karma when it comes to apartment hunting in nyc. the landlords and companies who are charging what they charge are the ones with bad karma

    This video is super helpful. I move there to start my corporate job and I need something for August move-in. My roommate luckily is working in the same place but we’re both recent grads and I’m from Houston while he’s in Arizona 😭. Hopefully when we go then mid-July, the options are a bit better. I just want light and laundry honestly

    I think you mean 4 times the yearly rent or 40 times the monthly rent ( so around $160k -200k salary combine). Bc 4,000 a month is 48k a year and 40 times of that is $1.92million so each person $960k yearly income?

    NY needs to gtfo with all of these unrealistic requirements they have for these low quality shoe box homes. Never moving back there. Staying in Atl. 40x the yearly rent is insane. So between you and your friend you guys make 2 mil? That’s an insane request for the average person.
