I was there opening night 1989. I will be there opening night 2019. Unless I get hit by an Orinco. (I did go opening night--although the first showing this time was around noon. I thought it was a serviceable version, but I haven't bothered to watch it again since.)

It was mostly campy/scary, but there were a few genuine scares also. It was just really fun going opening night--everyone was a fan in one way or another, and many of us had read the book. I remember when Gage said, "No fair. No fair no fair!" a black guy in front of me exclaimed, "This show is wild!" There is a documentary on amazon prime called "Unearthed and Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary". I thought I knew a lot about the film...but I didn't.

Lol his role in that movie is what i remember him the most for... And Raising Cain but that movie just isn't as good as Twilight Zone.
I loved him in Dexter Season 4 and Trial & Error Season 1.
Jason Clarke is Killing it.. Finally a role i approve of for him.. He just has that face that shows fear and anxiety.. Fits well for this character he's portraying..
I don't agree. I think he's good in everything I've seen... especially Lawless. There's plenty more to come from him yet though.

Lol my mom told me that this movie wasn't that scary. I told her that my aunt had us watch pet sematary(1989) when she babysit me amd my sister. The Zelda scene fuck me up as a kid, To this day it still does and now come to think of it yeah.. Now I'm scared shitless for the remake of Zelda appearance in the movie. That's good for them not showing Zelda's face in the movie trailers.

Stephen King has seen this remake and not only liked it, but is supportive of the changes made to the original story. The rationale for the main change was that that it allowed for more dialogue, exploration and action from the point of view the character that returns. That is to say; a 9 year old can essentially deliver a more robust performance than a little toddler. I loved the book and I understand why some people have not been receptive to the change. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. King has been notoriously savage against projects based on his work in the past. If he actually approves of this new take on his story, then that's enough reason for me to check it out.
It wasn't that great, I liked it fine, but its like a 6/10 I like to think of it as part 3 in the series. They changed way more stuff than who get run Over
John Salander i think it was a great Movie and also pretty scary.
A lot of the movies King likes are kind of shitty though. He hated the Kubrick adaptation of The Shining (which I thought was awesome and spooky) and liked the 2017 remake of It (which wasn't scary or eerie in the slightest).

I agree this more of a part 3 if they would've changed the names. I was already annoyed with the cat not being grey like the OG...but ugh they changed too much and not for the better! This is a whole lump of burning poop on my front porch just like A nightmare on Elm street 2010!
The directors said part of the horror of Ellie becoming undead is because of her being the curious inquisitive child always asking those hard questions. So it's like the evil is messing with Louis by having her continue to ask even though she already knows, she's just asking rhetorically
They just want to have a spooky little girl. So cliche, the change from Gage to Ellie is a terrible choice.
Agreed. Also the tired "creepy kids in masks" trope. Like I hope I'm wrong but this looks like it's going to be pretty bad.
Also if you have read the books then you would get why Ellie changes this time, her and Church always had a connection. Why Stephen King chose Gage never made sense besides having a killer toddler? This change actually makes sense.
@@goodluckchuck8616 stephen king's son almost got hit by a truck, that's what inspired him to write the book, and I think it was a really bad choice to switch the kids... And all the other changes sucks too. I think I'll wait for the next reboot
I don't mind that they made Ellie the one who dies (either way Louis loses a child), I just hate that they didn't save it as a surprising twist.

The 1st was good but if there's one thing Hollywood do well these days its cranking out generic, predictable crap with jumpscares that idiots panic at.
True horror = Alien. build up... atmosphere. Not jumpscares.

Nice touch with The Girl with All The Gifts music for this trailer, always thought the music in that movie was crazy eerie.
Please treat all animals correctly. My beautiful foster son was adopted a few months ago. Looks just like the cat in the trailer. I hope wherever my boy is that he is safe, loved and protected. I couldn't keep him, though I wanted to with all my heart. I'll always love him. Giving him up will always be a regret of mine so wherever my boy is, I hope he's happy. I love you, Rocket.

I feel like the truck scene is going to be a lot darker and could possibly show Ellie getting hit by the truck. With today’s graphics, they could definitely pull it off. I feel like that scene will be so disturbing and will stick with the whole audience for days
Samuel’s Piano Covers they showed Charlie getting killed in hereditary pretty graphically so I wouldn’t doubt it at all that they go very graphic and gruesome with it.

Samuel’s Piano Covers well the thing is the death hereditary was at dark and the actual moment was quite quick, clean and cut. This I feel would be way, way worse but I hope they atleast show the aftermath which it looks like they will atleast show partially with her reanimated corpse, just like they did in the book.
@@dirinc3478 i doubt they would do that. Remember Ellie doesn't get pulverise by the truck. The staples in her head is from the morgue. They have to sew up their dead after they clean their insides.

I don't understand people who are upset that Ellie is going to die rather than Gage. An older actor (in this case actress) will be able to do so much for for the story. I mean, in the 89 version it was obvious that it some scenes they were using a doll in the place of Gage. I think it is a change that will make the movie better.

Just got back from the theater watching this movie and I gotta say that this new version is every bit as good or better than the original version. The father and son from this new version looks alot like the father and son from the original version, particularly the son. A must see movie.
