  • Jeff visits the grave of Dack Rambo, whose career ranged from western TV shows to the popular CBS TV series Dallas to daytime soap operas. Buried next to him is his twin brother, Dirk, who died in a tragic 1967 car crash just as his acting career was taking off.
The brothers are buried in Delano, Calif., not far from their hometown of Earlimart where they were raised in a farming family.

Jeff, this was so interesting. The brothers were very handsome. That is really tragic about Dirk. Dack seems like he was a very nice person. Their poor Mom outlived two of her children. 🙏😢🙏

That is SO SAD that this LADY outlived 1/2 of her children. My GRANDMA & GRANDPA also lost a son to a hunting accident in 1981. Then my GRANDMA went through it AGAIN when my mom died of a heart attack in 2003. My GRANDMA died 2 months later from grief (she also outlived 2 of her 4 children--2 sons). MRS RAMBO must have been so HEARTBROKEN over the loss of her twin sons who were VERY HANDSOME, YOUNG & TALENTED. I remember MR DACK RAMBO in alot of TV shows, but I don't think I remember his twin MR DIRK RAMBO. RIP RAMBO FAMILY.

I would watch Dallas as a young girl, and the first time I saw Dack Rambo playing Jack Ewing, I thought he was so handsome. I really enjoyed watching him play Jack on Dallas. It was later on I found out he was a twin. So sad his twin was killed so young by a drunk driver. My 21 yr old daughter was killed in May 2018 by a drunk driver. I, myself, am a twin, so I understand the twin connection. It must have been devastating to Dack to lose Dirk so young.

People were so afraid of AIDS in the '90's and for him to be so open about it and to quit working because of it shows his compassion for others. James being a well known gunfighter sometimes hinders their search.

Covid is reminding me of that time period. Anyone with aids was treated so horribly. Then Princess Diana walked into an active AIDS patient ward, and without wearing gloves or a mask or gown... she shocked the entire planet when she hugged someone sick with AIDS. Then she subtly told everyone off for their lack of humanity and reminded them that sick people shouldn’t be isolated from their community and needed hugs to help them get better. Remember that? Now it’s 2021, and it’s the same kind of conditions. But there’s no Princess Diana. Just a flock of sheep walking straight off a cliff... and they’re trying to take everything else with them. 🙇🏻‍♀️

@@keetahbrough I really had a crush on Dack in The guns of Will Sonnet..yes those are horrible times seeing our brothers and sisters whittle away during the first two decades of this Aids crisis. We lost so many loved ones friends and strangers I would see who looked so fragile while l was living in Chelsea in NYC, I still live there today. Became an AIDS activist in early '80s. Well I was still in my 30s. And I just came out back in the middle '70s. And 7 years later the age crisis came of a stealth gay cancer according to New York Times. That really put a serious depression in all of us seeing younger folks getting so sick and dying so young..That time this disease was very much like the sword of Damocles over our various communities. Gay and bisexual folks were the untouchables at that time. They were treated pretty much like outkasts, lepersby our own brothers and by the staff at the hospitals and nursing homes and every other place that try to treat people with AIDS. Pretty much what's happening today.. it's hard to shake off these depressions of the past and currently with covid. So we should ask that" God bless the world and not just bless America. We can't think selfishly at these times in the whole world is falling apart.. oh my God help protect us and educate us to look after each other humanely without prejudice

I was in San Francisco, when I learned Dack Rambo had Aids. Remembering when he and his twin brother were active in television, I wrote him a letter; but not mentioning his disease. To my great surprise, he sent a large, autographed picture, and asked me to write him and send a picture to add to his fan collection. I held out hope that a miracle would happen and he could stay with us. I admired very much how he handled everything about his fatal illness. I remember him saying that when he finally reunited with his twin brother, they would have a whooping and hollering party. (I'm paraphrasing!)

My father watched three soap operas back in the 50s, The Edge of Night, Search for Tomorrow and As the World Turns. As a UK fan of 'Dallas', I found Dack's work in his role as Jack Ewing interesting and impressive. I think it's a great shame he wasn't given a better story-arc in the '85/6 season as he made such an impact in the previous season episodes running-up to Bobby's death, but I guess by the '85/6 mid-season point, the powers-that-be must have realized that Pat Duffy might come back 'somehow', and adjusted the season-ends of all the cast story-arcs accordingly. And sadly, Jack's character was allowed to drift into the background during the first part of the '86/7 season; I guess his comments when interviewed here in the UK around that time: "We don't want him [Duffy] back...(!)" on the Terry Wogan chat show (Terry was a good friend of Larry Hagman, which helped in no small-way, the initial 'take-off' of 'Dallas' popularity here in the UK) probably didn't do much for his off-screen relationship with Larry, and that's a shame as the 'sparks' flowed nicely between Dack and Ken (Cliff Barnes) Kercheval on-screen during the '85/6 season, and it would have been interesting to have seen what the producers and script-writers might have done with 'four-sided sparks' flying freely between Larry, Patrick, Steve, and 'cousin' Dack's characters. Nice video. Thank you.

Thank you for this. It's like getting to go see his grave, but I am disabled and can't travel easily. This means a lot. I was nuts about Dack Rambo in Sword of Justice. I couldn't believe anyone could be so handsome! LOL! Perfect features and eyes. I still remember some of the phrases reference the club and the spade. "The club is a sign of vengeance, it holds no man as friend." & "The spade is the sword of justice, it's rapier marks the end." There is one for the diamond as well, but that one I forgot.

Dack was on All My Children for more than 7 episodes (If you got the info from IMDB, they are notorious for being inaccurate for the # of episodes soap actors appear in). I think he was on 1982-3 and was part of a major love triangle. btw I'm a guy who watched soaps for years - there are a lot of us out there.

One thing mentioned here was an error. Dack’s older brother William “Bill” Rambo is not buried in this cemetery. He was laid to rest in Tipton-Pixley Cemetery. Also, Dack’s sister Beverly’s ashes were interred in his plot. There is now a headstone placed for her below his.

I remember Dack Rambo from an earlier soap opera geared for teens called "Never Too Young." It was short lived in the middle 1960's, and it also starred Tony Dow and Tommy Rettig, both stars from earlier TV shows.

Hi, love your channel. If your still in Kern County why don’t you take a trip to Wofford Heights where there is a pioneer cemetery. Wofford Heights is up Kern Canyon highway 178. Also in the same area is the town named Kernville. Kernville looks like an old western town where a lot of movies were made. There is museum there also. Hope you check it out.

I never followed "Dallas" but I was a fan of "Dirty Sally," where Dack played a former outlaw accompanying a cranky old woman across the old west to California. It was a fun show, but it didn't click with TV audiences. Later on, when he was cast on "Dallas," Dack claimed that Larry Hagman gave him a lot of grief over Dack's personal sex life. By the way, Dack might have had a few dalliances with women, but as with so many gay men back then (e.g. Elton John, Gore Vidal) it was far easier to claim that you were bisexual than gay. And sorry, but Dack was gay through and through, and I suspect the stress of having to live a lie in order to sustain a career in show business had a lot to do with his dependency on alcohol. I am glad he found solace in religion at the end.

Thank you for the interesting visit to Dack Rambo's grave and all the informationn on his life.
I used to be a huge Dallas fan way back when, and I definitely enjoyed his short stay on the show.
And I do remember the media rumours in 1985/86 surrounding his bisexuality and alleged hiv infection. Then there was the rumour that there were no kissing scenes between Priscilla Presley and him in during the Dallas dream season because she was afraid.
Imagine my surprise some 25 years when I decided to buy and watch the DVDs, as there were even no such scenes with Dack's second partner, actress Merete van Kamp.
So unfortunately something was going on behind the scenes, what with the new leaiding man at the time having no kissing scenes at all with any of his onscreen partners.
And Rock Hudson had only just recently died, after his back then much debated onscreen kiss with Linda Evans on Dynasty. I guess the hysteria was on its peak back then.
RIP Dack Rambo. Hope you had a good life as was mentioned here.

    God forgives when you ask.
