Thank you Daniela! If you have any questions or would like any topics covered in future videos, please let me know! Good luck in your search. I am sure you will find a wonderful family. Just as I am particular about the Au pairs we host, be particular in picking a family!!! You pick the family just as much as they pick you. Ask lots of questions and make sure it is a good family. 🤗
Hi Ratchel, thanks for your tips. At this moment I am in the process to be an AuPair, I have a small doubt, sometimes in the interview, due to nerves I forget the answers or the words to say, and I feel that I look unprofessional or insecure, I practice my answers with pronunciation and listening, but I'm very shy. Do you have any tip the families don't feel like I don't know my job?
Hi @the aupair host mom great tips, love the excel sheet. I do something similar with notes. I also love knowing yourself and family really well, choose your top 3 criteria and search broadly after that! Another great tip for families is that you and your spouse need to understand your family well and align on these criteria.
Really being honest with yourself is the key, you are correct. It is not about being judgmental of the au pair candidates. it is about knowing our needs and completing our due diligence to ensure the best possibility of a great match for both us and the au pair. We are VERY picky from beginning to end. When sorting through applicants, we identify 10+ different aspects of their profile that we deem essential for our compatibility. We may interview a candidate that doesn't check one or two of our boxes, but we move on if its not immediately apparent that their other strengths more than compensate. Do not waiver one bit, search and wait for the right candidate. I really think this is why we have had such a great experience with this program. We do not compromise and do not settle. Start early so that you have plenty of time and don't feel rushed. We typically start looking at applicants about 6 months prior to their expected arrival! Using two of the big agencies has given us a very large pool to pull from. In my opinion, compromising during the selection process has been one of the key factors in many of the situations that we have witnessed with unhappy au pair's or hosts that typically result in a rematch. Thanks for watching, and keep the good tips coming!
I'm watching from Saudi Arabia on you tube channel, your videos are so informative, looking forward to working on USA or Paris am learning French on my own, but the challenge is the age am 40 years how can you help me getting an au pair Job or any other job thanks
So for the united states, the Au Pair age limit is 26 years old. But I do believe there are other countries that do not have an age limit. I cannot speak with any knowledge on other country's au pair programs. I am so impressed that you have learned English and French. Sadly I speak only English and a little bit of Spanish. Best of luck! Cheers!
I really love your videos! Are very interested and useful to Au Pairs and Host Families. I'm a future Au Pair and I hope to find a good family!
